Puppy Returned As Owners Can't Have A Dog Where They Live
wintacove replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
yes well it looks like i have secured another home for this little girl, this time someone that can fully commit themselves, plus they also have another older cavalier, so she will be happy to have a friend to play with. I will be refunding them the purchase price but as far as the vet bills go i think they can go jump, as they are the ones that have stuffed me around. God i hate puppy buyers sometimes -
Puppy Returned As Owners Can't Have A Dog Where They Live
wintacove replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
In Nrth QLD it isn't complusory to microchip until jan 2011, as stated in the rules with Dog QLD, I usually do have all my pups chipped before they leave but in this instance the people wanted to collect her before i had a chance to get it done, as i don't let my cav's go until they are 10 weeks, but in this instance as they had travelled down from townsville to collect her she was 2 days off 10 weeks, i said to them that microchipping is included in the purchase price, but as i hadn't got it done myself i would deduct that price off the purchase price as they were getting it done themselves. I have the puppy here with me now, she was returned yesterday, i just wanted to get some views on what people do, as i have never had this happen to me ever -
Ok here is the scenario, i sold a pup 2 weeks ago to what seemed like a lovely couple, i asked them all the right questions, they told me that they lived in a retirement village, i had asked them on many occassions before selling them the pup were they allowed to have a puppy where they lived, they reassured me that they were and there would be no problem. So yes i went through with the sale,, now yesterday they have had to return the puppy to me as the management have said there is a no dogs policy in place. While they had the puppy they had if vacc and microchipped, this was it's 2nd vacc that they did. Should or would you refund the purchase price of the pup as well as the cost for the vacc, microchip etc or just refund the purchase price, penalising them for the stuff around, meaning that you are now leaving them out of pocket for the vacc, microchip etc. Anyones thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I don't usually let my cav bubs leave until 10 weeks, as i think they are still too young and small to let go at 8 weeks, so if you are worried at all about any of the health of the babies hold off until you are sure that they are fine

I use drontal suspension for the first few wormings and then drontal tablets when they are about 6 weeks, i put the tablet in a piece of mince so they don't know what they are eating, but with the drontal syrup they usually hate the taste so i mix abit of honey in each dose to mask the flavour

Hi Was just wondering if anyone knows who won in QLD on the weekend???

Cavaliers are prone to have MVD heart problems, (murmors) Well she just phoned to say that the pup had an autopsy and the findings were, twisted bowel, his heart was fine, but the vet said that the twisted bowel should have shown up earlier than this, also they found a tumor on the brain which had a blood clot around it which looks to have burst, so that is what killed it quickly. But i am still concerned that even if the pup did have a twisted bowel wouldn't it have died from this earlier. As she is only new to breeding this has set her back quite alot and said that it is really turning her off ever breeding again. But i told her that we can't save every pup that is born, even though we do try, but these things are out of our hands and we just have to move on. All she need to know is that she did her best and be thankful that she does have 2 other healthy pups that are thriving.

Yes the pup had been wormed regularly, no he hadn't had his vacc yet, he had been eating solids for 2.5 weeks and was pooing properly prior to his dieing, but 3 days up until he died he had become quite loose with his poos.

Just got a phone call from a new cavalier breeder in NSW that is at a lose and i have never had it happen to me so i can't give her answers hope someone else can. have told her to do an autopsy but here is the scenario she had a healthy litter of 3 pups, 6 weeks ago, but after 2 days after birth she noticed that one little boy pup wasn't doing well, always looked dehydrated, but was putting on weight but still had that wrinkled skin look. After 2 weeks he had picked up and looked liked he was going to survive.. Now after opening his eyes and getting better by the day, he still didn't grow much, but was happy and healthy. Once this little boy was up and running around he looked fine, but was still way too small... He was eating solid food like the other 2 bubs in the litter but never grew still, he was still as small as a 3 week old puppy, that being after he turned 5 weeks. Now today this little guy decided that he didn't want to feed anymore and just give up, he died tonight in his sleep after her taking him to the vet and they said it could be worms, but they were worried that it could be neurological and he could have something wrong inside or head wise. Has anyone lost a pup at this age and if so did you get an answer to it, i am at a lose and can't give her reason, all i say is that he wan't to be. Thoughts please so i can try and put her mind at ease.

Can You Export Pups From A Sire And Dam Marked Not For Export
wintacove replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
Just contacted Dogs QLD and they said that you can export pups from a litter where the sire and dam are marked not for export, but they did say that it was brought up awhile back about exporting semen from a male marked not for export that they had a meeting and found that you should not be aloud to do this. But honestly i really don't see the difference in exporting pups from that sire or exporting his semen, his prodgeny is still being exported either way. -
Can You Export Pups From A Sire And Dam Marked Not For Export
wintacove replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
ok well that makes it very clear. But what about exporting semen then from a male marked as not for export??? what is the rules there, was what i was told true or is that something that isn't in any rules either??? -
Can You Export Pups From A Sire And Dam Marked Not For Export
wintacove replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
yeah i said the same about contacting the breeder also of both dam and sire as they probably did have a reason for having there dogs put on not for export. I was also told that say if a sire is marked not for export then his semen isn't to be exported, not sure if that is true either. If that is the case then wouldn't it be made that any live pups bred by him shouldn't be exported too??? i'm so glad i haven't got this problem with my guys, not that i export anyway, but it is something that i'm curious about as i know people wanting to do this with a litter at the moment, so more thoughts be good guys -
I have been asked lately by quite a few people wondering can you export a puppy overseas if the mother and father of the litter are marked in australia as not for export. Looking at all rule books in QLD & NSW nothing states that this is not allowed. If both sire and dam are not to be exported that is fine, but does anyone know if it is ok to export a puppy from there litter?? I believe myself that it could be allowed, but not sure. So does anyone know if you can or cannot, also can you point out the rule where it isn't allowed, that is if it isn't.

last time i flew a dog, it was with qantas going from mackay to sydney, when i booked with qantas over the internet it said that if a dog was going as baggage i had to ring qantas after making the booking and lodge it with them. Did all that, then when i got to AAE in mackay to put the dog on as baggage they said that was fine, but i still had to pay $55 for there time, so i got ripped, so much for it being free, other people i know up here have had the same happen even if they had no other checked baggage, so yep i think it is up to AAE what they do, whether to charge you or not.
