Thanks everyone :D He got grabbed by a dog (not one of ours) and the fur was taken off and there's a bit of swelling (looked worse yesterday - he's moving around fine, just want to make sure he doesn't get an infection). Cleaned him up with some salty water and did use Bepanthen last night (no replies ). Mum happened to buy the Manuka Honey (the medicinal one) last week and will use some on him now
-
Hi, Just wondering if Bepanthen is safe to use on a raw wound? Bit weepy, doesn't need stitches, but would like to put something on it to help. (Out of doggy antiseptic ) He's fine Still walking around and playing with the others and will have full supervision until all healed Thanks! EFS

Hi there, dog sports are great fun and it depends on your dog and your handling and training skills. For me training Nina in agility was easy because she was bold and had alot of drive. But once you get there and feel that excitment rush through you it worth it! OK, I will need to have alot of practise especially for Dante (9 month old Iggy) he has no self control, whatsoever Storm (whippet) should be easier, just show him the ball ;) plus (I make, makeshift jumps) he loves to jump, I taught him when he was young, now he jumps on the benches :p :p apparently its my fault (sorry OT :p ) Storm is pretty responsive though I need a garden to practise though we only have a balcony, pretty big mind you... ETA: I would take him to agilty training, but we live half an hour - 45min away, and the only class is at 7.30pm, so a bit far for my mum to take me thats a shame it's so far where abouts are you? i have a small backyard too and before I got some equipment i used brooms and stuff too (ah good times.. lol) If you have a park or something nearby then i suggest you get this Agility in A Bag thing from AfforableAgility.com thats what i have and it doesn't take up alot of room, it does cost a bit of money but if u can't train at a club then it's great practise If ur not too far maybe we could train together idk my MSN is [email protected] if ur interested but thats up to ur parents. I live near Hornsby I do the same, but we have 4 dogs, and we don't have anywhere where we can lock up three otherwise they go nuts, and Storm gets narky with the others Yeah, I'd have to ask my mum for that shes a DOLer though, so she may stumble across this thread lol

Hi, I don't do any sport with my dog, but hopefully will do agility when we move (in about 2 - 5 months) and would love to find out how easy it is, to do it? I am going to use either my IG or my mums Whippet (my CC is too scared to do sport with and I don't want to make him really scared) Thanks

No trimming here either, as the whippets and cresty are pretty lean at the best of time.

How Can I Get "heel" Through To Him
Tahini replied to Snoozie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi Snoozie, I took me a long time to teach Nemo to heel... The only way I could get Nemo to get the idea was every time he pulled I would stop, I would pull him back to me on the lead (not yank), and say uh uh. Then I would start walking again but when he pulled again, I stoped, pull him back to me (not yank), and say uh uh. When he didn't pull I gave him a treat, he soon got the picture... I don't know the difference between competition style heel or loose leash walking, but I am guessing that Nemo does loose lead walking... Nemo, too, didn't work for treats out of the garden  I don't know if this helps -Nemo  -
Does he wear a jacket when he rugs against the furniture? If so, and it is pola fleece his little hairs could be stuck in it and cause him to become itchy and he can't scratch himself all over (by himself) so this is the best way to scratch! If he doesn't I agree that it could be a skin irritation or an allergy. Please keep us updated ;) -Nemo Edited cause I can't spell
-
Until he finds his forever home (or finishes eating our home contents ) which ever comes first :p He too has a fetish for toys and has to leave them in a million pieces, plus he also hogs the toys, luckily though the whippets are faster and can sneak in like a flash and steal them back. And this is from a 10 year old Dachshund..... ;) Maybe you can feed him some shin bones? To keep him away from the lounge? Good going Whippys 10 years old So is he is 10 turning 2?? :p ;) -Nemo

I don't know if there is anything wrong with your GSD it may just be a "phase". Nemo sometimes gets greeny "stuff" in his eyes but it passes... It could be the same as what you have with your dog, hopefully it will be just a thing that will pass with time... Don't know if this helps. -Nemo

Nemo was desexed at 12 weeks and he still cocks his leg. I don't think that desexing him will stop him cocking, Nemo learnt to do it I don't know if it affects growth -Nemo
