Agility is my favorite. When I had a miniature Poodle he was trained to do flyball and was really fast. We never competed though, just did some demos.
-
Not going but you should love it, I know others who have gone in the past and thought she was fantatic. Have Gina O'Keefe next weekend so am looking forward to that.

Thanks, love the new avatar We got a 3rd in excellent strategic pairs, no quali (our worst SP run ever) but at least we won some Advance dog food. Chanel 7 was filming us and the camera man said they might put Bella on the news because she looked best on camera but not sure if we made it on or not. Excellent gamblers she did a fantastic job, but I was no where near where we wanted to be when the bell rang so we wasted too much time starting the gamble. I panicked and Bella started sniffing the ground at the start of the gamble but she was fine and got going once I relaxed. In our first run the snooker we were clear until the last obtstacle (weavers). The crowd seemed to be more into it yesterday and the atmosphere from last year had returned so it was a really enjoyable day.

Bella had 2 runs, did well but didn't get any qualies. She did the distance in the open courses but I messed up the easy bits Bella sure enjoyed herself though. She wasn't on in the afternoon at all, I wish I had put her in jumping as she was going really well. Tilly had 2 runs too but she was more interested in seeing if there was any food on the ground as she was finding plenty of dropped food in the assembly area ;) She needs a bit of work I think but we haven't been able to train this year at all due to the club trying to get the grounds back in to shape. She is one one you met. Bella is back on Sunday for agility games so hopefully we will have some luck there.

Good question, I think I have been wonder too as Bella is 8 in December. A few weeks ago I mentioned to a few people who have been doing obedience, agility, etc for years (3 generations) that I might retire Bella from agility soon and they thought I was mad. Even though Bella is approaching 8 her enthusiasm just keeps improving and she is loving it so much I have to agree with them and will continue for now. I was definately going to retire her a while ago though as she had really slowed down. I took her to a local tracking trial that had a massage lady there and she was great, after a few massages she was better than ever. I can't imagine Bella ever being sick of walks though, being a gundog there is nothing she likes better than a walk around the neighbourhood taking in all the smells on the ground.

I was told the area is 30 X 30 so definately small but Sue managed to work the space very well with the courses she did.

More agility on Sunday for anyone who missed out on the fun

I do use luring but recently saw someone who made very good use of targeting too which I was very impress with.

Looking For Strategic Pairs Partner
helen replied to Silvawilow's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
thanks. The way I figure as long as we don't look totally bad it will be OK as there is always lots of people watching. A pass will be a bonus as we haven't quite got that masters worked out yet LOL. -
Congratulations. Hope you do well in the finals

Ptolomy - how do you keep up with them all

Looking For Strategic Pairs Partner
helen replied to Silvawilow's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Silvawillow, I could do with the occasional partner in excellent. Are you going to the royal we could catch up then - I did novice with Bella with a Border collie who is now retired due to her age. Tilly did 2 runs with an English Springer Spaniel and one with a Portugese Water Dog. I am doing some runs with the Springer but we aren't always at the same trials, I doubt very much if they will be at Ballarat, when does it close?. The PWD doesn't have her novice title yet so we are waiting for her to get the last pass too. -
Can't imagine a dog getting bored with agility Have you tried flyball?

Agility Trial... Hastings Tomorrow Sat 15th Sept

Good luck everyone. Too far for me too although I really wanted to go so I could do a snooker trial with a different judge (have 2 passes under the same judge) but never mind. -
There are plenty of instructors who from personal experience have seen behaviours from entire male dogs that may not have happened otherwise and believe that it is practically impossible to get through with a dog entire without getting into trouble. Then there are other males who have gone all the way through as entire males, probably not so many as most obedience dogs have been desexed. I may be more of a comment of their personal beliefs rather than a personal comment on your dog if that makes sense. A couple of people at the top of the game were having a conversation not too long ago stating that you can't expect miracles trialling with an entire dog. I will be putting this to the test eventually. I hope to prove them wrong

jjb - I feed one of my dogs 2 cups of optimum a day, one about 2 1/2 cups a day and one somewhere inbetween. They are larger dogs than yours are, about 16-17 kg, I have never read the pack.
