  1. What sort of photos do you want to take
  2. Congratulations on the title Prodigybxr And yes, I can't wait for the pups, luckily they will be born later in January (all going well). The father has more than half of the pedigree filled with working dogs (mainly field champions), a dual champion and plenty of show champions too. Bella has a few titles herself, a dual champion and a CD dog in her pedigree so hope to produce some special pups. The dad to be had his first free run since arriving in Australia today and really enjoyed himself and still came when he was called. They did some training and a field trial with him in US so it has paid off.
  3. Congratulations to all who have had successes recently and way to go FHR with the pups win. A sort of brag for me. Bella (Ch BIS Wameika Dentelle ADX JDX CD SPD GD S-NCC O-NAC O-NJC) is hopefully going to have her 2nd and last litter soon. Father is a new import from USA. He has made a great field trial debut at 7 months of age, winning 2nd in Open Puppy at Ringneck Brittany Club and since coming to Australia has won a few class in groups at show so am hoping to get some brilliant working and show pups
  4. I'm still on the bench or probably would have gone. Went a couple of years ago and it was great. Camped ringside, snooze on the sunday lunch break in the tent They got a camp fire going on the Saturday night so everyone sat around together socialising. You will enjoy yourself for sure
  5. I would use a flash for the people shots to take out some of the shadows on their faces
  6. If you speak to Challenge Dog Supplies I saw a 3 way arm they sell and is great for the safety aspect of dog grooming as it is difficult for the dog to turn its head around and bite, it was demonstrated at an expo recently. Over the weekend a lady from NSW had a call to say one of her staff had received serious bites to her face from a dog they have been grooming for years and had always been well behaved so if I was grooming I would be looking carefully at products like this.
  7. Here is a good site to compare cameras - http://www.dpreview.com/
  8. Huge congratulations to Dogdue and Bridgiecat
  9. I can recommend Helen Read (Clever Canines) from this link - http://www.deltasocietyaustralia.com.au/cgc/cgc_victoria.htm
  10. With all the rain since yesterday Geelong Obedience dog club grounds are under water again, luckily there is no trial this time. We sure need the rain though
  11. You could try a couple of more times, use some nice food to lure her without pulling on the lead at all If this fails get a normal flat collar and lead and let her drag it around the house (under supervision) so she is more used to wearing the collar and lead, then start picking the lead up while she is walking Just remember, make it fun This exercise should help your dog accept being handled by the judge in the show ring - http://azcentral.pets911.com/programs/nati...e.php?num=11028
  12. If you think now is a good time then why not. If you both work I think your dog will appreciate the company during the day. I would suggest going to a show and looking at some of the dog breeds and see what you like
  13. naughty Gamby, hopefully he will pull out a big one next time
  14. I could be the lens is not fast enough. It might also help to up the ISO to get a faster shutter speed
  15. Just found a good link for you http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/raw-vs-jpeg/
  16. Raw photos are not altered by the camera in any way, you need to do that yourself on the computer. JPEG photos are altered in the camera, ie shadows, contrast, brightness etc. With raw you have some ability to adjust exposure if the photo is under/over exposed slightly. Raw is also a larger file so you can fit less on a memory card and on your hard drive. Raw processes also allow you to manually adjust things like brightness, shadows, contrast to get to the final point with no loss of detail. JPEG is not bad to store but evey time you edit and save a JPEG file on your computer is looses quality. If you are making any adjustments use TIFF or PSD (don't think TIFF will save layers) I normally use RAW but you cannot use point and shoot modes with raw - with my camera at least. You cannot print directly from a memory card at a shop if you have used RAW format, they only take JPEG
  17. just discovered this thread again, some dogs have been storming along. A big of an achiement for Tilly. We stopped obedience classes a few years ago because she was simply too scared/shy and wan't happy unless our 2 GSD friends were there and we were in between them. She would never do a group stay even though she could stay and she would follow me if I moved away simply due to fear Anyway she is much more confident these days so I decided to take her back for another go to improve our teamwork and she was great, did a perfect stay even though the lady next to us had to go back to her dog plenty of times and was growling etc. It would have sent her scurrying back to me in the past but now she her confidence has grown she just stayed perfectly. Not a great achievement for most dogs but huge for her
  18. Sounds like a great idea I would really love to see Rally-O up and running in Australia. You can gain titles for Rally in USA now
  19. My last obedience trial in novice when we got to off lead heeling the judge said remove your lead. I took the collar off too out of habit and the judge nearly had heart failure LOL. I had to put the collar back on.
  20. If you walk a strategic pairs course you will see obvious breaks in parts of the couse, ie no 5 might be on one side of the couse and no 6 might be on the opposite side of the course, so that is the leg where the dogs will change. There has to be I think at least 2 dog changes in the course. The judge simply watches the next obstacle so if somone misses an obstacle the judge will just keep watching the next obstacle, not where the active dog is going. If a weave pole is missed, a bar is knocked down or a contact is missed the whistle blows and the other dog has to come and complete that obstacle. Once a mistake is made time does start running out quickly, although there is plenty of time in novice. I find pairs much easier if you can heel you dog between legs and get them to sit and wait (if there is time) as you can see as soon as the other dog has finished and start quickly
  21. LOL, why else would the judge be standing over the dog walk except to visit her Thanks everyone and too bad I didn't get to see feralpup as I have not been entering jumping so have not been watching.
