  1. Love the Tern Chick, beautiful photos
  2. I allow my dogs at the dog beach as often as I can, time to have fun and just be a dog - it is their favorite place - when they are gone I think their ashes will end up on a dog beach somewhere (we don;t have dog parks here) I have never seen it affect their performance except in a positive way by getting great exercise
  3. How awful, sorry to hear the sad news
  4. This is my tree photo I am cheating a bit as it is not brand new but I just re-discovered it and haven't got time for photos or to go anywhere like this
  5. hehehe, you should have made a batch and invitied us all around so you couldn't do it again. PPS - your tree photo is too cute some great photos everyone else
  6. For action I prefer to use shutter speed priority - can choose to freeze or blur motion
  7. Why not. Bella turned 9 last year so I have decided to stop agility with her. We have been doing open obedience training as she is still very keen to do a job and is loving it so I may even trial her this year (she did CD about 5 years ago). When I was training a pup she let me know how keen she was to do some work, a bit like your dog
  8. Sorry, can't help. My gundogs were easy to train and are good dogs - they do obedience and agility. I did train Bella to do flyball in about 2 easy lessons even though she is not ball mad, she did it because she loved the row of jumps. Didn't continue though as it is not my thing.
  9. Was sad to hear about poor Scotty, he was such a lovely dog.
  10. I don't have any of my photos on the wall (and have had comments like why not ) My sister has photos of my niece I have taken framed though. What I do have is a beautiful pastel painting of one of the pups from my first litter, painted by his owner, and a canvas of Chazer taken by a photographer friend. I would love to get a painting of Bella I would also love to get a photo book made if anyone has suggestions of good places

  12. Great photos everyone. OK, I am joining, better late than never LOL. I have hardly taken a photo for 12 months so it is about time to pull my finger out. I have dragged out my little old camera which I will probably use for most of the challenge as it fits into a bag, a point and shoot, a Pentax Optio 750Z, I am even changing to a slightly bigger handbag for the challenge . This camera does have one feature that is special, a swivel screen so you can even sit the camera on the ground and point up with the screen swivelled around so you can see what you are taking, it is priceless. Here is my photo from yesterday - wanted to add Smorgies (a local landmark) in the photo as a place reference. I had the camera just above the ground looking upwards. and a photo taken 11 Jan before I officially entered the challenge
  13. I agree, Geelong waterfront is a great spot to socialise. I had a pup here for a little while beginning of last year and that was one of my favorite spots to socialise him, especially when there are events on. You can also teach them to behave at coffee shops at a few places (eg Sheraton and Sailors Rest)

  15. I think you should go ETA if K9 at KCC park is easier to get to switch when you can get in
  16. I had the Ozito and replaced them with a Dremmel, much better. If you get one you have to be careful not to get any hair caught. Also don't leave it on the nail too long as the nail will get very hot.
  17. Ah yes, good old "No-nail tremors". Highly debilitating disease that one. Also affects Staffordshire Bull Terriers who start to cry and shake uncontrollably at the mere sight of the nail clippers. LOL - now I have a name for the condition
  18. He is a bit of a girl. I think it started when he got a pink tracking harness
  19. You have been trained just like me Chazer took to yelping when I clipped his nails so I started using a dremmel. Then Chazer started yelping when I dremmeled his nails. Chazer taught me to be terrified of clipping dogs nails. Someone else clipped Chazer's nails for me at Geelong show, he just lay there legs up in the air, no worries in the world - apparently it only hurts Brittanys when their owner clips their nails, not when someone else does it
  20. Here is the info for you I actually will be flying into Melbourne and staying a couple hours away, so easy enough to get there and run a seminar and courses. My thoughts are train the trainers mostly, but anyone is more than welcome to attend. My basic seminar runs a day and a half...first day...no dogs...technical stuff, rules, signs and what they are. How to mark, why the marks are the way they are. Everything from how to run a match, to how to train the ring stewards and what works in a trial and what doesn't, and why. I'm a very hands on person..so people will be up on their feet and moving a lot as we discuss signs and what they mean. next day (if this is the way folks want to go, as about 4-5 hours on day one is plenty and exhausting) Dogs...courses set up....handlers walk through, dogs go through...we analyze each team and talk about not really what's wrong, but the technique and how to improve it. answer questions that will have come up since the main lecture the first day. There are fifty signs with CKC rally, so there is a lot to cover. Most of this is strictly the novice level, but if desired, will go over the various signs for the upper levels and explain them thoroughly. My day and a half course price per person is $50 each. this is for the full experience. People are welcome to attend the second day for $10 (if they can't make the first day, or are not interested in running trials or are teachers) which allows them to run through courses and do actual trialling situations. I usually try to run at least four courses and it usually takes about two hours. There are no materials required to buy, however I'm going to try to bring with me the CKC rule books and if there are clubs that want them, they will be able to take one for reference. I also have the signs electronically which I'll bring with me to pass out to interested parties. Hope this answers some questions....time frame is late February at this point. I am hoping to tie in some of the areas to existing shows and get a captive audience.
  21. Here is some info on your camera from a great website http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Cano...on_eos1000d.asp
