How many of you have watched the puppy puzzle DVD by Pat Hastings. talks about chosing puppies from sound confirmation and how important good confirmation is needed for performance dogs. As well as what is already mentioned dogs can be naturally more sure footed than other dogs and can naturally judge jump heights etc better than other - a bit like someone with excellent hand/eye coordination

Exactly, do a google on rule of thirds, is usually better to have the main subject off centre - If you compare the 2 photos the 2nd is more appealing ETA I do love this photo, so cute

Her dogs do a great job don't they. The thing that is most interesting for me is the way she is nearly always in front of her dogs. I have found with Brittanys it is better to be behind them, being in front slows them down, don't know why, but it seems to reduce their drive.

You have captured the moment as they say with the expression on the cat's face, what a classic. I would crop out the left hand side of grass a bit for better composure

His tongue is hanging out LOL Seriously though, I love the location with the bridge, so those are my favorites, where are they taken? I also love the photoshop work on those photos. I prefer the original of him running with the ball in his mouth, I think with the vingette (or however it is spelt) distracts from a background that works perfectly for the photo with the trees framing the dog

Great original idea

I think poor Colliewood just wanted a comparison,

There is more information inside the pack in a leaflet

Bella was always better the later she went in the ring, so maybe it could work in your favour fingers crossed And on the bright side, at least there is only one chance of the dog next door moving in the stays if you are last in

"the Truth About Clicker Training"
helen replied to Jigsaw's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Adam Katz - never heard of him -
I found many of them came to just under my dogs eyes, enough to be annoying, except the Halti which you can now purchase from Coles Supermarkets, the design keeps the nose strap away from eyes and is excellent

"the Truth About Clicker Training"
helen replied to Jigsaw's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hit the nail on the head. In the first couple of sentences that was obvious \ He doesn't know the difference between reward and bribe He doesn't realise obedience is nothing but a lot of tricks (for the dog at least - you are just putting a cue to an action you want the dog to perform, exactly as you do for a trick) -
Sin Binning - Does It Work?
helen replied to WildatHeart's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would tend to agree that it doesn't work normally and usually would not do it, but it did work wonders for me once - Bella was going nuts in an agility run, not listening to me and going wild doing the obstacles she wanted. I simply grabed her, put the lead on and lead her straight out of the ring and into the car without a word. Took her out for her next run and she was perfect -
Training A New Puppy With The 'clicker'
helen replied to all the fun stuff's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Have you done socialising and getter her used to being handled all over etc? http://www.k9events.com has loads of training and clicker training ideas, and lots of info on socialisation -
There was a Rottie trained to growl etc on command that was on Kath & Kim.

For times when he is to be sitting quietly and the instructor is talking a really good chew toy works wonders

Chazer's First Agility Pass At His First Trial
helen replied to helen's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks everyone, and Bella sure was having a ball, although Chazer was pretty pleased with himself too and came off the courses with big smiles. Just hanging out for the Ballarat NADAC trial now. Can anyone tell me what CC is in the schedule for Ballarat, is it chances? -
Here are some good links for you to consider, I think the main point is they need to do things separately and not be together for everything http://home.att.net/~pvee/dbltrbl.html http://www.vonfalconer.com/twopuppies.html http://www.cleardogtraining.com/index.php?...t&Itemid=12

Chazer's First Agility Pass At His First Trial
helen replied to helen's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks - as you can see she didn't even come so close to the color, and the big smile on her face says it all - I think it was one jump onto the black and then one flying leap to the ground -
Chazer's First Agility Pass At His First Trial
helen replied to helen's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
He certainly outdid his mum Bella. She is in veterans now and is supposed to be calm and collected but I forgot to tell her. She hasn't been to a trial for a while and when we went in the ring and she saw the equipment she reared up like a thoroughbred :p Started off well and flew through the weaves then we got to the 2nd last obstacle, the dog walk, with only 1 jump after that - well all know what can happen with contacts when the dog walk is the 2nd last obstacle Doing well so far but she spots the last jump and figures it is her job to do it as quickly as possible so builds up speed Then ooops....... Think she is telling me she still loves agility LOL -
Chazer had his first agility trial recently and got a pass, was over the moon as I didn't expect one really. I only entered him because it was a local trial and I thought I would see how he would go in a trial situation. Got some photos of the big event to show off :p Out of one tunnel And off we go And in the next tunnel And one jumping
