Lensbaby And Buying Lenses From The United States
helen replied to carebear's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
When buying anything you have an option of US warranty which any Canon importer in Australia will cover. You can buy a slightly cheaper grey market item which you need to return to B & H for repair http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/USGrey.jsp I purchased a lens there recently, but wondered if it is too risky with a camera and the potential for damage. -

Where Can I Find A Good Short Lead?
helen replied to Aequus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Black Dog will also make leads any length you want, you can also ask for double thickness, you just need to put though a special order request. -
Riley is all decked out

So by Chrismassy do you mean you already have the tree up?? Maybe that would inspire me also putting the tree up?? Cant wait to see everyones photos, this month will be fun I think!! Tree is up, wreath is on the front door, yard is decorated with christmas lights (we have a competition going in my street!) and Zero and Mow (my cat) have been chased mercilessly by me with a camera while wearing assorted christmas outfits. I've also ordered my 50mm 1.4 and I'm picking it up tomorrow... I think I will have a festive photo by tomorrow night lol. Just read this post LOL

People Wonder Why I'm Scared Of Spiders...
helen replied to Leithy's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I don't know if it's true, but someone told me that huntsmen drop down off the roof so being up high doesn't mean you're safe I can't stand having a spider up above my head after being told that (I vacuum them up too!) Huntsman can jump too, straight from the face of the dog that is playing with it right on to the leg of the poor unsuspecting person who happens to walk outside at just the wrong moment -

Can Anyone Help Me Find These Books?
helen replied to Grey's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Airdogs - http://www.airdogs.com.au have Reaching The Animal Mind and Click To Calm - I just bought Reaching the animal mind recently and they were the cheapest in Australia and I wanted it quickly, they always post immediately -
That is fantastic. Our obedience club has the DVD in the library and I know someone who has used it very well with a hound

Overly Shy 8 Month Old Field Spaniel
helen replied to poochmad's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have just been reading a book by Karen Pryor called 'Reaching The Animal Mind', a great book that also has information on fearful dogs and suggestions for dealing with it, might be worth getting a copy -
Karen Pryor's new book Reaching The Animal Mind is priceless - I would say if you can only get one book get this If you can still get it the Idiot's Guide To Positive Training is also an excellent book If you are interested in agility Clean Run magazine is great

I definately agree with Nekhbet. A good place to begin looking for a good puppy school is these two sites http://www.apdt.com.au/ http://www.deltasocietyaustralia.com.au/cg...ctors_index.htm Also there is loads of great information on raising puppies can be found here http://www.k9events.com/pups.html The k9events link also has loads of valuable info for breeders

The worst stays I have seen was when a Toller broke, said hello and made every dog get up along the way, my dog was one of the few in the other direction to where the Toller went. IMO a dog who can;t be trusted with other dogs if approached in the stay shouldn;t be in the trial as it will happen eventually

Wish I was in sydney, love having someone else taking photos of my dogs

Bella only ever dropped in a sit stay once, but from my own experience it would be a rarity to have no dogs fail the stays
