  1. Fantastic news Charlieandoops His owners are going to be very happy with their new boy Iltby - Rosie is a real beauty - a kind word to her and she is your friend forever
  2. You were spot on about your assessment of Brittanys. Bella my eldest was my first agility/obedience/show dog and she did really well but that was just a bonus due to her beautiful nature. I also looked at Welsh Springer Spaniels and English Springer spaniels, but preferred the Brittany for intelligence and ease of grooming in comparison. Also the Welsh Springer Spaniels are generally not as outgoing as a Brittany. The owner of one of the pups from my last litter is doing agility for the first time and they are doing a great job and having a ball, and he is still quite young. You can't miss too many walks when they are younger (but you could probably say that about most dogs), but as they settle down and mature you can get away with a bit more.
  3. Over time I have seen on the forum here what the PACERS have achieved from the start and been amazed, they fill a big hole as there is no other charity quite like it (to the best of my knowledge), a great effort by all and a great cause. I found out today though just what it takes to get a charity off the ground from an idea (non dog related in this case, http://www.wombatswish.org.au/ but just like PACERS it was a dedicated soul who saw a need and did something about it), I think it takes a very special person to get the ball rolling so hats off to all those who founded PACERS. Amazing what a few people achieve
  4. That is just amazing. Saving Saving LOL
  5. They look great I love the fact you can buy calendars any time now and start them at whatever month you like. I did some for myself and friends in about March so we missed a few months, but now you can do that and start the calendar whenever you like ETA I am also in love with their calendars, the quality is great
  6. They don't look that yellow to me. If you don't mind paying postage (unless you live close by) a great place is http://www.digitalworks.net.au - if you monitor is calibrated then the photos will turn out great
  7. I use a Spyder, where did you get your photos printed?
  8. Thanks Helen, but that won't be necessary. There are 4 dogs in HP right that that would suit me perfectly (and that's just 4 of the ones we have tested so far). When the time comes for us to add another dog, I will have plenty to choose from & no need to go looking outside of my own pound. Oh well worth a try LOL
  9. Thanks. I hear there has been some interest in a few of the dogs so that is great news.
  10. aaah how to choose, they are all so good, it will be the best issue ever
  11. Jed so sorry to hear about you and your beautiful dogs and cat, I hope you get well very soon
  12. I charge the same and certainly don't breed for the money, if I charged based on the money I spend on the litter and the hours spent caring and socialising for the litter they would cost much more. The way I see it though is that they all cost the same amount to raise the pups and I spend as much time with any of them, and I wouldn't feel comfortable charging more to a person just because they want to show.
  13. Thanks. And I can say for sure that if I was one dog less that Rosie would have come home with me, I really can't understand why she has had 2 homes already, she is so lovely - the Shar Peis are great too, just that Rosie sucked me in big time
  14. Easy as pie. Next time a Brittany comes up in rescue I will let you know
  15. Not easy, there are too many great dogs Brittany Finnish Lapphund Standard Poodle Staffy Samoyed English Springer Spaniel Cocker Spaniel (either type) Collie Irish Setter Dogue De Bordeaux
  16. My girl Bella had a Boxer friend about the same age and they were in puppy class together. When they were young they were the naughty pups of the class but they are the two dogs who went through and both got obedience and agility titles. The Boxer did a wonderful job, so if it is a breed that appeals to you you could certainly train it.
  17. And last but not least is George, a beautiful and affectionate boy who has just come in and is still in quarantine so not available for adoption yet, another cuddly boy
  18. This is Arizona, a lovely girl who was left in the shelter after having a litter and is now with Shar Pei Rescue looking for a home - http://sharpeirescue.com.au/2010/04/arizona/
  19. Next is Yoshi, another Shar Pei who also just happens love love pats, see more about Yoshi here - http://sharpeirescue.com.au/2010/04/yoshi/ - he didn't have a great start to life but he is just great
  20. OK, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier they have rescued called Rosie. Rosie is a real sweetie and I wanted to take her home, she is great around the house but I took out the squeeky toy and she was ready for a game and a bit of fun, you can see more about her here http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/71928 - she reminds me of a puppyhood friend of my girl Bella and Bella would have loved to meet her
  21. This is Roland, a lovely boy who really loves attention and pats as you can see from the photo, more info here - http://sharpeirescue.com.au/2010/05/roland-2/ This is all he really wants Love the wrinkles The dignified Roland His serious look
  22. I went to Shar Pei Rescue Inc and met their beautiful dogs and took photos for them. There are some lovely dogs looking for homes for anyone who is interested, this is their website - http://www.sharpeirescue.com.au First up is Merlin, a stunning Shar Pei boy, you can see more information about him here http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/72232 and from his page - Ahhhhh, this would be Heaven. My manners are pretty good, obviously I am house trained and I walk pretty well on the lead. And as all good dogs should, I will sit for my meals. .
  23. They are very cute, I vote you have the one in the 2nd photo with its tongue sticking out
  24. OK, if you dog will do this it works like a charm (it will send some dogs nuts and some will stand like a statue) 1- get firm old of dog via collar 2 - throw food/toy out in front of the dog so the dog is watching thrown object, not too close or head will be too far down 3 - release and let the dog get the thrown object Once dog knows reward is coming for standing then add in moving and stacking the dog while it stands still, if dog looks away from object and doesn't stand game over. This worked like a charm with one of my girls and a friend is doing this with her young pup and it is working really well, and a nice positive way to train if you have a dog who will do it,
