  1. If only we had access to a rental library like that it would be heavenly
  2. I think the most difficult ones to train depend on the dog. I found for Zero, the toughest one is the "back up 3 steps, dog stays in heel position" sign but he's incredibly uncoordinated so that doesn't surprise me. I have heard of people who have dogs who do it easily. I know people who have problems doing a moving stand - Z's is solid and always has been. Techincally the hardest ones should be the ones that are only used in the Excellent class but as i said, i think it's up to the individual dog. As for the where to perform the exercise, it depends on the sign. For example, a left or right turn is performed before the sign, but a moving side step is after or you risk hitting the sign. here is a good video for you Shell http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup#p/search/0/k4LoPU1g310
  3. haha Tassie. if you want a list of different tricks/videos look at this site http://www.dogmantics.com - we had to pick a trick from that website, a friend of instructor demonstrated a few tricks including this one and as soon as I saw it I knew that was what I wanted to teach Chazer. He had never done any foot targeting before so it was a big learning curve. ETA - now he thinks any targeting should be done with his feet, not with his nose
  4. Wow, some aweful stories there. It is true about the editing time too. AIPP - It is a guide to choose a photogrpaher, but not all good photographers are members of the AIPP, so I would say let the photos talk. The photographer I admire most here in Geelong has been in the game for 20 years and has never been a member of the AIPP, has no interest in them, but takes brilliant photos, commercial, portait and wedding.
  5. I saw that. Every time Dogs Victoria wrote something about Dogs Big Day Out on facebook they were attacked by rescue people - and we were told our purebred dogs are all badly behaved, useless, poorly bred dogs. Put a very sour taste in my mouth about rescue. Is this the general attitude of rescue groups?
  6. and another version for bigger dogs
  7. Thanks Dandybrush. Here are a couple of videos that show how to teach the trick small dogs:
  8. That is fantastic Love the accidental breakthrough. Was interesting that she wanted to target with her foot at the start, Chazer is like this because we have been doing so many foot targeting tricks - might add this to my list of tricks to teach Chazer
  9. We have been doing a tricks class, this is Chazer's best trick he has learnt, also I think the hardest thing I have taught a dog before. Richard Curtis does it in his crufts routine from this year where he was a painter
  10. cute. You could stop for a while, rub some shampoo in, then keep going for the rinse, he wouldn't even realise he has had bath LOL
  11. You will have to start calling him Clever Chester Great stuff and he looks so happy
  12. haha, Chazer is not fussy, he goes to anyone for pats Most people think he is after food but what he really wants is pats. Santa didn't do much talking otherwise the dogs might have relaxed a little bit - looks like it isn't rare for some dogs to be a bit scared, I was really surprised.
  13. We had our training class tonight and down the end of the shed there were santa photos. The instructor's dog started barking when he saw Santa, so the instructor thought we could all go and socalise our dogs with Santa. Of course Chazer went right up to Santa tail wagging for pats and attention, with his usual charm, but all the other dogs were too scared to go near him, the instructor's dog finally went up to him after watching Chazer get pats from him for a while, but the other dogs didn't want anything to do with him, and except for one they are not generally scared/timid dogs Anyone have dogs that love/hate Santa?
  14. It is so funny the things they do. My dogs always come up to me tail wagging for a pat as soon as they have finished eating, it is like they are saying thanks for the lovely food :D
  15. Here is one, little Jack In The Box
  16. If it was me I would choose the one closest to home
  17. Some of these are easier than others Group 1 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Australian Silky Terrier Griffon Bruxellois Group 2 Airedale Terrier Welsh Terrier Fox Terrier (either type) Group 3 Brittany English Springer Spaniel Irish Setter Group 4 PBGV Borzoi Whippet Group 5 Australian Shepherd Briard Finnish Lapphund Group 6 Portuguese Water Dog Dogue de Bordeaux Boxer Group 7 Poodle (standard or mini) Keeshond German Spitz ETA - how on earth did I miss including Samoyeds?
  18. Tiggy - you have good taste :D All the pups have fantastic outgoing personalities, but that one was particularly sweet. A friend came along too to see the pups and she put this one down and it just came back to her looking at her for more attention, a real adorable puppy, would be my pick
  19. They were so funny, I was laughing so much, but managed to get all but 2 in focus, have now idea how
  20. it all looks very easy, but this is what happened in between, I don't know how I got the photos I was laughing so much - how funny are they, the box was just a big toy, but at least we got them to sit there for a bit .
  21. Riverreed Brittanys asked me to take cute photos of their latest litter, so the new owners could have a lovely surprise photo of their puppies. The object was to take some cute photos of them sitting in a basket, like this:
  22. I just wish I had time to surf blogs and find some I like LOL. I do love seeing photos on Ange's facebook page, and I think it links to a blog, but not sure https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Angela-Solling-Photography/164353410285866
