If you don't want to wait Olympus PEN cameras are a great option, a mirrorless camera like TLC mentioned. Panasonic and Olympus developed these together. If you are in Sydney, are you anywhere near Digital Camera Warehouse, their staff are great and very knowledgeable. you can read about the different cameras here: http://www.dpreview.com Nothing personal LOL. It is for anyone reading, it just cracks me up walking through some stores (not necessarily camera stores) with the staff saying this camera takes good pictures

This is the first photo I remember taking. It is my brother and sister. I told my sister to jump like she is grabbing him, the motion blur wasn't intened, but just makes it so funny

Firstly, it is the user that makes a good photo, the camera just helps :) This is what I want - http://www.canon.com.au/For-You/Digital-Cameras/G1X-Camera I just pickup up a 2nd hand G10, which is a much older version of this, and it is a great camera except for the noise. This new model looks brilliant, and noise problem solved

Day 20 - Popped into the Friday night market before I went home. If I was ever going to get a tatt it would have to be one of these, airbrushed and temporary, I don't like needles or pain, and it isn't my look :-) 20 January 2012.

Mavericks Mission, love the photos, especially the cob webs Impatients - great photo, it is almost like 2 photos in 1 Beth - very clever, did you make that? Misteri, love it. Will be looking forward to seeing them. Day 19 - I took a photo for the theme chaos, which also happens to be a self portrait :-). Tilly is always causing chaos by getting into food that she isn't supposed to :-) Taken with my little G10, I am enjoying it. I have to fix the date and time, I did take this on the 19th, but the data says 18th, I think it is still in USA time :-) January 19, 2012.

It is hot, hot, hot today so I filled the clan shell pool for the dogs while I was out. I don't think they ever use it, but I feel better knowing it is there LOL

No worries. If you ever have camera gear you don't want put it on ebay, people pay amazingly good prices for used gear there. I have been watching/bidding on a few decent cameras as I want something small and portable for my project 365, and have been outbid plenty of times I went to B & H Photo and Video and they have a used store. I purchased myself a Canon G10, about $100 cheaper then they are selling for on ebay, so now am waiting for it to come in the mail. There were a few Olympus PEN cameras that were very tempting too, but for my purposes the G10 was more practical, I can use my speedlight on it. Might sell it on ebay at the end of the year Then I can get the new one Canon just announced - Canon Powershot G1 X - how is this for a great feature: "Another interesting feature is the Movie Digest which allows you to create a video of highlights from a day of shooting. When Movie Digest is on the camera will automatically record a short video clip (up to 4 seconds) every time you shoot a still image. The entire day's worth of clips will be automatically combined into a single video. Of course, the High Dynamic Range shooting mode takes a number of shots to ensure you'll get a photo that works - one underexposed, one overexposed, and one normal. All three are combined for an image that is balanced and evenly detailed with flattering shadows and highlights."
