  1. I know what you mean cowabree, I had a friend who was kept gundogs, he'd had pointers and curly coated retrievers and took terrific care of them and trained them well. But if the dog turned out to be "no good" (his words) a bullet would be allocated to it. One day while we were camping up at the Murray River he went off fora few hours and came back with a lovely Brittany Spaniel bitch, about 15 months old. The bitch and I spent the next few days bonding and I told him if she didn't work out he was to bring her to Melbourne to me. He promised. I saw him a year later and asked how the bitch was doing, he told me he'd given her a bullet, I paid out on him and told him he'd promised me but he said really, Liz the bitch was stupid and I was doing you a favour. He is a remarkable dog trainer, and his dogs will do whatever he says, to the point of fetching their own dinner bowls at feed time, but I guess he has the mindset of an old day farmer. I know he is a friend, my I think if he was that good a trainer he would have done 2 things, firstly realised he needed to change his training for the Brittany, (usually it is not the dog that is stupid), and No 2 he would have realised that Brittanys are not necessarily going to have any maturity at that age and to persist - we have all heard that saying about if you dog makes a mess inside, get a newspaper, roll it up and hit yourself on the head. ETA - This is why I am reluctant to sell to hunters. I even had a quote done from a tradie, and the girl talked about her relative who would give a dog the bullet if it didn't retrieve something - I didn't even bring dogs into the conversation, she did.
  2. Hi, I have lots of great images, but would expect a royalty as the photos do take time and money to produce
  3. Fantastic, I love that youtube clip of the Labrador doing that, I could watch it 100 times and still laugh, so I got a good chuckle from the photos too. I like the second best at was my favourite part and is so cute
  4. Maybe build a 2nd dam for some lotus flowers
  5. Day 37 - Bella - now I have a matching photo of Bella, Tilly and Chazer Day 38 - Bella met this 6 month old Great Dane on our walk, he was very sweet and playful. 7th February 2012 Day 39 - Wonder if this thing still works, looks a bit rusty Day 40 - Chazer had his first Rally-O class. I took this photo while we were waiting for a go, he is with Kia an English Springer Spaniel in the class he took an instant liking to. 9th February, 2012 Day 41 - A quick mobile shot looking out a window, using retrocamera android app Day 42 - I went shopping, this is the view from the car park. 11 February 2012 Day 43 - This is my photo for the 52 weeks of dogs challenge, something red, a scarf and something made of paper. The wall I love, the scarf is so she didn't have to sit on the gravel ;-) and the heart is made from paper, I made a heart because her birthday is on valentines day, she will be 10 in 2 days.

  9. gorgeous photos, love the colours, and the rain looks great falling down
  10. I still have my Canon 350D, still works like a dream, so they can last, but I reckon if you stick to Canon or Nikon you can't go wrong If you want to do macro then you will need a macro lens, but combined with a body that might cost more than $1000, but to be honest I haven't looked much into macro lenses, the only one I have looked at is close enough to $1000. If you can't afford a macro lens you could always save up for one later.
  11. fantastic, looks like you had a heap of fun there
  12. Love this, I have been thinking of doing the same thing with Chazer and a friend's dogs he loves to walk with
  13. Everyone likes different things in photography, it sure does make a difference though, with/without flash. For me the flash image has more punch, no shadows and more details
  14. Gila - the selfie on this page is great. Pixie meg, I love that first photo on this page too
  15. The cats had better ideas LOL I just had the flash on ETLL, about 1/2 strength
  16. This is Tilly's week 5 photo, the beach is becoming a regular haunt for Tilly's photos, but it is summer so may as well enjoy it I will just share other photos I took at the same time, I used it for my project 365 but thought you might be interested: Day 35 - I did a flash photography workshop (on and off camera) quite a while ago now, but have not put it to use too much yet. The instructor near the end came and talked to me and the friend I went with, and because we are from Geelong made a point of saying to take the flash and practice on the beach, it is the perfect place for flash photography. I finally took his advice today, and now I wonder why it took so long. The photos below are with flash and then without flash. I tried to match the histogram as best as I could on the photos in lightroom, then they were given exactly the same treatment in PSE. ETA - I have not shown the metadata on these photos on Flickr as I left 1/2 of my brain behind, I did make a bad mistake with my settings but got lucky (too fast on the shutter speed), but will be sure not to do it again LOL With flash no flash
  17. Snook - Justice is sitting there so proud of himself, cheeky boy LOL Ktig, that is so cute, you can tell he is enjoying himself there, love the feet in the photo Stonecutter - they are great photos of you together. The bottom two are funny, you have your eyes closed in the 2nd one, then Ziva has her eyes closed in the 3rd one, it is like you are taking turns :) KumaAkita - that is really lovely, such a big smile for the camera, happy doggie

  19. Thanks Huga. Funny thing about that seagull image is that I pulled up wondering what the heck I was going to take a photo of, because it had to be quick, and they guy in the car must have read my mind. Don't know if he thought I was mad taking photos of the seagulls or not LOL I have managed to last 10 times longer than last year, mainly because I enjoyed looking through your finished set so much, and your words that you were too subburn to give up have stuck in the back of my mind MavericksMission - what a classic, I have never seen a cat do that before Newfsie - love the light shining through the web
