8 Months & Still Has Baby Teeth.
First Time Puppy Owner replied to Melbomb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I personally would get it checked out as the adult teeth might be imbedded in the jaw and could cause several issues, but then again I am not expert -
I use Epi-Otic Ear Cleaner on make up removal pads as well (highly recommended) Makes it nice and easy and you don't actually get the wax on your fingers then!
-
GL - told me that this stuff is great Epi-Otic Ear Cleaner for Dogs & Cats and I agree I like it - Benson not so much but hey! You know those cotton make up removal pads you can get from the shops that you pour your own cleansers onto, I use those to clean out the gunk! (the round ones) If it get gross in a week of doing his ears that's when I would probably go to the vet.

Hi All Just wondering for those that have decided to change over to feeding Orijen, how are you liking it, do the dogs seem to like it, for allergy dogs is there any changes that you have noticed since changing etc??? No need to comment if you have not tried your dogs on it. Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences!

Homeopathic Vaccines
First Time Puppy Owner replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ok Odette please help. He had his last (vaccine) injection at 14 weeks previously he did not get a lump on his back from it. Vet also put in microchip - but it was definitely from the vaccine as they were done in different spots and she shaved a little to put the microchip in. He was born on the 18/02/07 and was fine up until the 20th of Nov 07 mind you his coat was never great but now is dreadful even though he gets fish oil, ep oil and flaxseed oil. I have done absolutely everything to stop him from scratching and biting himself, flea treated the yard even. He just keep scratching and biting himself. -
Homeopathic Vaccines
First Time Puppy Owner replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Odette have you ever used them personally? Nope, and don't intend to. I think "homeopathic" is a scam. Im speaking from a human medicine background, medicine or treatment labelled "homeopathic" doesn't undergo the same level of testing, scrutiny or regulation that traditional medicine does - it doesn't even need to show efficacy like traditional medicine does. I can't imagine that animal medicine would be any different. Quite simply - I don't think it is any different to a placebo. In fact, I find the whole premise ridiculous, and think it is a waste of money (not to mention dangerous when used in place of traditional, proven medicine). Odette evidently you are in the medical industry - thus you must be familiar with the extreme side effects of keeping any living being on cortisone for extended periods of time and it cumulative effects on bones? So do you propose that I continue you to administer cortisone to a dog that is 1 yr and 3 weeks old periodically for the rest of it's life? How long do you think I would foreseeably have with my dog before his body caved in and he had to be put to sleep? I respect your opinion as everyone is entitled to theirs ok. Yet this is not a question of whether or not you believe in conventional or unconventional medicines (ps I am as skeptical as the next person) but more over seeking suggestions and advice in respect to alternatives. Thank you Anissa - I think you are probably the most learnered here regarding homeopathic remedies. We are currently seeing a homeopathic vet - I didn't have much of a chance to talk to him about the vaccination process you see, so was not quite sure of what it involved, administration etc (was going to speak to him more on the next visit about it). We are seeing him about allergies and his low immune sytem and he is trying to correct this in Benson. He did offer the idea of homeopathic remedies over vaccination - yet I am leaning towards getting him vaccinated one more time and then titre testing there afterward. -
I love mine too!!! Direct from Mars - she is QLD and postage is very reasonable and quite quick - also she will advise which is the best to suit you Giant Fluffies!!! www.marsgroomingproducts.com.au

Homeopathic Vaccines
First Time Puppy Owner replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Even with a different vaccine Tess - last one was the only one he reacted to, which was a c5. Just so you know his immune system is severally compromised as he has a lot of problems with his skin - itching, scratching, biting, hot spots etc. -

Homeopathic Vaccines
First Time Puppy Owner replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sorry he just said that instead of vaccine he could do it homeopathically - I just assumed it was a shot too Ok the problem I have is that my friend is my vet and I know she bought an entire bottle of C5 to do for family and friend's dogs and I didn't want him to have this one again as it caused a massive lump to form on his back and I would prefer maybe a c3 or c4 instead. -
Hi Everyone I am just hoping to find out if anyone has ever had their dog / cat vaccinate with a homeopathic vaccine over that of the common C3, 4 or 5 vaccines commonly used by vets and what their experiences have been?!?! Thank you in advance for your sharing your experiences!

I found this worked really really well for my Goldie - watered down betadine, weak tea in colour to clean (I use those round cotton makeup removal pads, others use cotton buds) then pad dry until paper towel comes away clean and dry and then shake a curash powder on to it. Don't worry if a heap comes out it will fall away. Curash is zinc oxide powder and dryes out the wound. Edit - chemist, around $5-$7 and use can use it too!

Titer Test In Brisbane?
First Time Puppy Owner replied to laffi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I am going to have a chat to our Homeopathic Vet this Saturday to see if does this or understands it - etc. -
Everything crossed for you and your boy! ;)
-
The homeopathic vet we have began to see explained that the allergies initially start in the paws and then travel up into the body and that is the same way that they leave the body once the immune system is beginning to work properly. Honestly I am very much a skeptic of anything new or faddish or alternative, but everything he said to us at the clinic is occuring so I do believe it is working. I mean he isn't fixed yet but if in 6 mths he is itch free and remains that way for life I will most certainly be recommending to absolutely everyone I know. I do hope that he gets better but if you would like his number rizenstar, even just to have a chat let me know. He is a vet first and foremost and does all the normal vet things like vaccinations etc.
-
I had not thought of vit c & e! Rizenstar - I too have been at my wits end and appreciate what you are going through - Goldie here. I have my boy on EP holistic duck formula, but am going to change him or orijen as it has no grains at all, i am changing from tabs of oils soon to Mega oil soon (health food shop sell it) and I have him on zinc and kelp daily, plus wash him in EPO shampoo weekly. Have started him on homeopathic therapy through a homeopathic vet and will let you know how we are travelling after our second visit on the 8th of March. See the solution he made up for Benson has increased his itchiness, but he said that is quite normal as the cortisone and antihistamines have covered the allergies and suppressed the immune system for some time. Sorry I am not the best at explaining how he said it but I certain;y have seen his energy levels increase and he said that would occur so I am being quitely optomistic about the doc actually repairing his immune system!
