First Time Puppy Owner replied to PandaGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming

Mega Oil - A little more expensive than fish oil caps but much more effective for allergies and coat condition IMHO. I just can't get over what a difference it has made to my GR, his coat was like straw and now it is soft to touch and still getting better. I gave him at the beginning 50 mla day and now about 30 mls and he has been on it for about 5 mts and his itching has almost stopped completely! WooHoo! Here is what it contains INGREDIENTS: Flaxseed oil Soybean seed oil Evening Primrose oil Borage oil (15ml GLA) Safflower seed oil Sunflower seed oil Sesame seed oil Pumpkin seed oil Oil ratio 2:1:1 of Omega 3, 6 and 9 Suggested Use: Children 1-15: 1ml per age up to 15ml per day 16 and over: 1 table spoon 1-2 times per day.

Do you mean the The Grange in Brisbane? If so you are not far from them - they are in Wooloowin! -
:D I had a feeling that might occur as your little fella sounds like such a fussy one!
-
Mega Oil! I swear by it!!!
-
That is sooo cool - he is a great guy Loving that there is now one closer to home!
-
When did he open up the shop? Cause the last time I looked at his website it was only the sthside store.
-
Awesome thank guys! So Canine Country in Woodridge and this place in Burpengary are owned by the same guy? That's excellent that I can now get it on the nthside cause that bl**dy gateway is getting more and more expensive by the day
-
If you have a phone number that would be awesome thank you, will try to goggle it too!

That sounds promising!! Can I ask what the Mega oil is? An omega combo? I have a Lhasa who is a poor itchy girl Ok Mega Oil is a combo of all sorts of natural oils - here is the list INGREDIENTS: Flaxseed oil Soybean seed oil Evening Primrose oil Borage oil (15ml GLA) Safflower seed oil Sunflower seed oil Sesame seed oil Pumpkin seed oil Oil ratio 2:1:1 of Omega 3, 6 and 9 it however is not cheap and my homeopathic vet said to give 50 mls a day - so we are now on 6th or 7th bottle in the last 4 to 5 mths! There's a shop in Caboolture which sells it but it might be too far for you? Which shop in Caboolture?

bag quotes for that size with a less active dog 2 1/2 cups a day while an active dog gets 3 3/4 cups. I'm feeding my 2 gsd's about 1 3/4 cups plus a chicken wing or a couple of necks etc a day and they're looking great My GR is around 2 cups (some goes into his treat toys so might not make it into the gut) and a bone a day and he has actually lost a few more kilos and is nice an lean - so I am not going through a bag a mth more like almost 2 and a half mths

http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=protein+much Oh man I can be :D sometimes, it was called the protein debate D'OH! Here it is hope it helps you! :D
-
There was a really good thread a little while back with great info and articles - but do you think I can find it now
-
There are many that still support the idea to much protein can be harmful for large breed puppy yet there is a great deal of research showing there is no relation to protein rather the calcium : phosphrous balance etc. I am sure some one with come a long for the link for the thread about the research into this B&B!

Benson adores Orijen! :D I changed from EP around 4 1/2 mths ago too now and we are on our second bag for one dog (GR) and maybe just over half way through. I have him on Mega Oil, Dr Brusce Health Booster and Biotin as well during this same period of time due to incredible allergies problems where he was developing hot spot after hot spot and literally tore the skin off his head with his hind feet. His overall condition had inproved incredibly he is much more energetic - before incredibly lathergic, his coat has transformed from coarse straw like texture to soft and thick, the itching and lick is still reducing each week and his poos are fantastic. He seems like a completely different dog from 5 mths ago! I know it's not exclusively the food in our situation but I believe this combination has been what has turned Benson around from a miserable itchy boy to a dog that is really beginning to resemble a Golden Retriever again!

Hi BDL Ok we have just been having a discussion on the GR thread re brushes and Goldielover kindly posted these two informative sites! http://www.dog-supplies-advisor.com/dog-brushes.html#brush1 http://www.raisingspot.com/health_care/how_to_brush_dog.php Also there was a great link posted on the GF thread in the last few most re a (if I remember correctly) Swedish Breeder and they have an awesome section on proper grooming - but do you think I can find it now :p Hope this helps a little a least! -
Yep! We love it sooo much - well Benson does he could be asleep on the bed (where he is not allowed grrr) and hear the bin open and not he comes running! I get from canine country as I have friends and fam on that side of town - but I understand that they do deliver if you purchase a fair amount - give them a buzz!
