  1. There are a couple of great food here in australia now - artemis and orijen are at the top of the list of great foods, with many dog now getting super excited about meal time - good luck though at the vets I hope it's just that he doesn't like hills. Also most shops take food back if it's not palitable for the dog.
  2. http://www.pawzazzpetz.com.au/gpage3.html There are some great treats on this website that are 100% natural! Hope it helps!
  3. I have heard its around the beginning of next year - is that still the ETA Sags?
  4. Haven't read all the recentt posts but Harold I just want to let you know that my GR skin and coat have significantly improved since I started him on Orijen and a omega oil blend called Mega Oil. Both are not cheap but to see him happier, less and less itchy and no hot spots for over 5 mths now I am so increidbly stoked and don't care that I haven't bought myself clothes in ages
  5. Ok I had troubles too when I got my pup and I was told to kinda hold him from underneath - sounds a little weird but you put your hand between their hind legs and hold the tummy - no need to collar or lead then, cause you are kind of taking their hind leg use away from them if that makes sense? Ps the person that explained it to me said it sooooo much better, but I hope you get the idea
  6. Yeah I give my boy a blend of omega 3, 6, 9 Oil called mega oil, cause he otherwise rips his hair out and his skin off - it has helped so much. Also just by the woollies home brand 3 packs - way cheaper but a fantastic and natural way to control you boy's itching!
  7. Just keep feeding sardines! They are an excellent source of omega oil and these oils aid people and even dogs with skin conditions that make the skin dry, flaky and itchy. If you are after what the cause could be to this - there are several as there are in the human world - dermatitis atopic or inhalent, dandruff etc, etc. The main thing is that the sardines help you gorgeous BC so just keep feeding him them 3 times a wk!
  8. Hmmm - my car is off the road at the moment so I am relying on him to drive me to and from work, but once that's over .....
  9. Agreed Ok well we got cream for us humans and will be washing the kids tonight and then again on the weekend after I can full disinfect the house from top tp toe. Bella does not appear to have any lesions on her, Benson would not co-operate - so it will by force tonight that we check him over. But here's the corker - I was going to make a doc appoint for this week about my little lesions (that appeared last week), but OH's is a massive one and we got to talking about it last night and he tells me he has had his for 2-3 mths. I said why didn't you tell me or get it checked out? Answer = I don't know... So it maybe that the fur kids don't even have it cause I am the one that grooms them and I have not noticed anything of the sort on them, but to be on the safe side I am going to bath them in Malseab anyway.
  10. Start by checking their tummies for any obvious ones. Cool, thank you! Man this totally sucks - I hate house work at the best of times and now I have to do it during the week
  11. Ok so I will comb back both their hair this arvo to check if either have lesions - I have had mine for just over a wk cause I wasn't sure what it was and was going to see a doc but OH mother (nurse) said ringworm straight away when she saw the massive one on OH underarm that is over 3 cms wide - mine are less than one centimetre but I have lots of little ones. Should we also see a doctor or just get something over the counter??? Also can you avoid getting ringworm?
  12. Mine is on my stomach and upper thighs and my OH only has one under his arm. Honestly I can't think of having touched any one elses animals lately and Bella did get out for the night within the last two weeks.
  13. Do you think we could have caught it from somewhere else and they might not have it??? Sorry I just don't know much about this at all
  14. Thank you for your help in advance. Well I don't know which animals has ringworm or whether my OH have contracted it from somewhere else, but we both have it. Should I just begin treating us with medication from the chemist and washing everything - including Bella and Benson or should I take both to the vet for a check up and see if they can go on antibiotic straight away??? God i feel like such a knob cause I thought cause I worm them every mth that they could contract ringworm and then I did a search here and found out it was a fungus. But I guess my main confusion is which one has it, or do they both cause i have not seen any lesions on them - just us
  15. Mega Oil has been amazing for my boy, I can not recommend it more highly and after two bottles there was a dramatic difference not only in itching, but coat quality too! Here are the ingredients Flaxseed Oil, Soybean Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Borage Oil (15ml GLA) Safflower Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Pumpkinseed Oil. If you read up about Evening Primrose and Borage Oils you will see the 15Mm GLA is excellent. Yes it is a little on the expensive side, I now get mine from a health food shop for $27 for 500 mls and give 50ml daily. Also use Dr Bruce's Health Booster.
  16. Just thought I would let all the Brisbanites know, that when I went to Canine Country yesterday to get more Orijen, the owner let me know that he is getting in Orijen Senior next week! :D
  17. Brisket, Lamb flaps, Chicken Frames, Chicken Necks, Turkey Necks, Soap Bones. I always give bones to my GR frozen so that it takes him longer to devour it or swallow chicken necks whole! Hope that helps
  18. How old is your pup? And was the breeder feeding this to the pups? See I would more likely change your shampoo to Aloveen and check you yard of things like wandering jew or other itchy plants before jumping the gun on changing foods! I've heard of Aloveen, but can't remember what. My pup is 9.5 weeks old and he was being fed Optimun, but the breeder said Advance was better. Could he be allergic to grass as he lies on the grass a lot? See it could be any number of things - what shampoo did you use? Aloveen is a shampoo for sensitive skin dogs - then if a medicated shampoo is required there are a few the vet can suggest. You can buy Aloveen at the vet or really good pet shops or online, I would go down that avenue first! Also remember pups have sensitive tummies as well and changing food too quick is not go for them k! Also why was the breeder feeding them Optimum and suggesting you change to Advance??? Sorry that's a little confusing?
  19. Hey Lola! I have heard this mob has postage for $5 http://www.pookinuk.com.au/pet-products.asp?categoryID=90

  21. http://www.championpetfoods.com/orijen/products/cat.aspx No there is a cat food made by orijen too! see above
  22. I have actually found that my boy lost a little weight since starting on it and is at a nice even weight now! ed4s
  23. Yes you can use fish oils for humans, yes there are different dog oils - flaxseed, omega oil etc and there are blend oils that you can buy from health food shops like mega oil. But the question is what purose is it for? Has your pup got a condition you are trying to treat or are you just wanting to induce hair growth etc???
