You know the real fruit squirts can you use it over a couple of days??? Like I can't imagine you would put it all into one serve right? Plus the passionfruit one - does it really make the natural yoghurt taste like passionfruit yoghurt? -

The unit is about $20, but it will pay for itself in no time. I get the plain powder. It's been ages since I've priced yogurt, but it costs me about $1.50 to make a litre of yogurt. What's the price of a litre of commercial yogurt these days ?? It was around $4 when I started to make my own. Closing in on $6 unless it's on special - so going to go get one this week!!! Thank you! -
I do virtually the same thing with Pyohex and Benson doesn't seem to care that I am treating a hot spot anymore, where as when I used Betadine he use to flintch like it was stinging like crazy.

If you make your own yoghurt, it's even cheaper to feed them. You can get the container & powder from Big W. It's called "EasiYo". I have 3 dogs & they get a big dollop on their breakfast every morning along with their oils. I have never even heard off it - must go investigate - thank you guys!!! -

Yep Europeans are much more into offal - mum use to feed us fried livers as kids - eeewww (I have lived in Finland twice and they eat all kinds of weird crap but I guess when meat is as expensive as it is over there you eat the whole animals rather than just the rump!). So I went on my shopping spree on Saturday and then parceled everything up last night - which took 3 hours! Ocean - I now know how you feel!!! ;) So Jack Purcells were out of turkey wings so I substituted for marylands, and bought the following which is a 2 wks minimum for my two Golden boys - plus a lot of extra's that extend in to weeks 3 & 4 as they were not sold in smaller packages. So this is what I bought from Jack's for $58.20 8 Chicken marylands 2.6 kgs of Mince Chicken Frames 5 kgs of minced Roo ($24.30 - which works out at $4.86 a kilo and will last 4 wks) 1.4kg of Pig Tongues 700 of Lamb Hearts 1.1 kgs of Lamb Kidneys 700grams of Lamb's Fry 2kg of Lamb Flaps (never buying again as I had throw so much out that was just fat!) 1.5kg bag of lamb off cuts Woolies - $15.00 4 Salmon Heads ($3.99 a kilo) 8 Tins of Pink Salmon for $10 And I had Sardines and Yoghurt at home and bought veggies the week before for about $2 (to make up a week's worth of feeding) So I have rounded it off and I would say feeding my boys is going to be approx $15 each a week - not bad IMO as Artemis was about $14 dollars a week and plus I gave the boys yoghurt and a bone every second day! Edit- the boys the morning were hilarious - Benson was like what the heck when is my kibble but being a Golden Retreiver his stomach got the better of him, but Lughie though he was in heaven and scoofed it all down (all the while his tail wags from side to side like a pendulum - so happy when he gets his grub ) -

Well done - I am heading over there in the morning to shop for 2 wks worth of food! Hey question - do your two like sardines? If so why no mince up the offal really fine and then mush up the sardines with a fork and mix the thoroughly together! Sardines smell more so they might just go bugger it I want sardines so I guess i have to eat the rest of the crap in here too! :D -

Yeah that's what I was thinking too Even when I tried to defrost chicken for myself it seemed to cook on the edges - so I do the warm water for defrosting mince etc if I have forgotten to the day before! -

You to Gretel?!?! I just said to temp staffer we have in today 'I swear some days I feel like I am working on planet looney tunes!' (I wish I knew what some of my colleagues use cause I double dose to feel like I wasn't the freak amongst the weirdos ). Ok one last stupid question peoples - do you defrozst the day before feeding (in the fridge) and if so what if you forget, can you zap it in the microwave??? :D -

No worries! :p I'm just a silly worry wart is all! I agree - I mean that is why I have fed Orijin and now currently Artemis Maximal Dog as he is allergic wheat and oats and I have a funny feeling (though this can only be proved through elimination) that he is allergic to beef as well, even if only mildly, so I can not wait to start feeding raw! -

Yes it certainly does But you did give me a fright cause I was thinking oh crap shouldn't I feed Benson raw due to his allergies (Atopy) but then realised that this is not sickness as such *phew* Love 'man colds' :p And that is so cute about Benson picking off the kiev pieces -

They do and especially at that angle I think - makes the ears look really long! Aahhh yes I think if I lived in an apartment the only way I would feed bones is in a crate and that's it! -

Benson's the same - took him 3 minutes to eat his fresh chicken maryland - but Lughie shocked the hell out of me - in the mouth chop, chop, choip, chop swallow (30 bl**dy seconds ) I almost had a heart attack just watching him!!! -

You know I thought your boy in your avatar was a Dane ;) I just re read that you have been speaking to other wiemie owners in Germany - god I'm a dork Perhaps it is a common concern with weim's - see I know Golden have guts of steal so feel comfortable feeding brisket bones, chicken marylands/frames and turkey wings/necks without any worry - I am however a little relucant to feed chicken necks or wings as I think my new boy Lughie would inhale them -

How do you mean immunosuppresssed? What illiness exactly? I agree! I take a calculated risk every morning, five day a week when getting out of bed and going to work, I mean just you never know who I will want to choke! (Sorry couldn't help myself ;) ) -

Well said Laffi! Bones are excellent not only for mouth health IMO but also provide a stimulating mental activity for domesticated dogs! -

If you are portioning and weighing and mushing and de-fatting etc etc yeah, it will take you a little while and its your first go right? You will get it prepared faster the more you do it and I'm guessing being a first time preparer you were maybe a bit 'perfect' with everything? That is so going to be me on Sunday - so I best get prepared for 4 hours of work!!! -

How much does your boy weigh? Cause if he is 70kgs I guess you would have to feed about 14 kgs a day and I suppose that would take a heck of a long time! No experience yet - will let you know how long it takes on Sunday! *shaking in boots* -
Hi Kiwikitten - sorry little confused - did you pup have a 6 wk injection at all? Or just an 8 wk one? If it was at 8 wks you could go for the 12 wk one and be out and about on pounding the pavements of your street by 13 wks then! See when I got my pup all this was not yet really well publised in Australia so my boy had already gotten his 6 wk injection and thus to get him out and about sooner I did a 10 wk one and a 14 wk one and we were off to the parks at 15 wks. Yet had I know about this info properly back then I think I would have only done more more. Hope that helps you make up your mind!
