Different/unusual Breeds In Dog Sports
pie replied to huski's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We have a St Bernard doing agility here, they only enter occasionally, amazing to watch though! Here he is at the Royal: http://www.yourdogphotos.com/ Not sure I'd consider my two too unsual since there are both Manchester and Tenterfield Ag Ch's, but I do have the only Tentie trialling in WA at the moment, with mixed results Papillons seem to be the standard 200 agility dog, we have 2 trialling here in WA currently. I love seeing different breeds out there doing agility, one of my favourites is Whippets, they do it so gracefully. -
Argh, forgot to PM you, it's in my drafts, I'll do it now!

Congrats Ange! Can't believe he was that cute grey puppy at Riverside a year ago, what a handsome boy he grew into.
-
Judging starts at 7.
-
Too many cute puppies! Haha Tiggy I told you he'd be bitey! Don't miss those needle teeth!
-
I'll bring a goon bag (that sounds classy doesn't it - it's not a real goon bag people, don't worry ) don't know about baking because I have to work tomorrow but I could probably purchase some delicious goodies so if you're bored come on down! ValleyCBR will be there too but she's stewarding. Video would be awesome.

Yep, I love them and would consider one actually, but the grooming would be a shock to the system ETA: One of our clients bought their blue roan CS puppy into our office when he was about 9 weeks, he was so unbelievably adorable and sweet, and his little silky ears, awwwwwwww! I thought about pupnapping him ;)

You could always enter then scratch on the day when you see the course if you decide it will cause problems?
-
I entered Gamblers once and scratched - I didn't want to do it because there was no natural course and it seemed confusing running past things and also having mini sets of 4 weavers, probably better for a more stable dog but mine's a bit 'special needs' He was also not in a good mood that day. I was glad I scratched because a lot of the dogs I was watching were very confused by it. Having said that I did do a snooker run in a judges exam once that was fine, it was more flowing and wasn't too spread out. This thread has good tips on Games: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=187821 I saw some mighty fine flying terriers last night....I think you'll do fine! ;) Yes if only he realised he could do it at trials - I broke him somewhere along the way, feel like I'm learning so much lately though because of his broken-ness so it's not all bad! Planning to get some lessons before I break the other one too because of my slowness!

Oh wow I didn't realise that fire one was one of the finalists? And this one ;) http://www.canon.com.au/worldofeos/photo5/...x?imageId=52615 I think it's a bit disappointing, there were great images entered.

Our first night trial since March tomorrow night! I'm excited, love night trials! Though we have a few killer moths around at the moment, great when you have a moth obsessed terrier Yep I agree Jess, the top dogs seem to be able to do obstacles more independently. I think they react to things like call offs better though?

I think RE awareness is required for agility too, aids in proper weaving, contacts, etc. Don't know if you've seen this Kikopup video vCBR but it shows her teaching the exercise then doing the pivot in heel position http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsvNvK8T1z8 Poor little Tobylarone Man that dog must love the vet! :D

YAY! Love those Cockers doing agility, wish we had some here Looking good, and the best part - how happy does he look!!!
-
Sorry for your loss Angelsun, the Mannies are special dogs that really work their way into your heart and soul. I'm sure he knew you loved him to the end, and that you left him in Canada for his own good. And WOW look at all his accomplishments, what an amazing journey you had together, quite fitting really given his name! RIP Journey.
-
Haahahaha poor Shine indeed! They look so cute playing together though!
-
Of course it rains on my one watering day!

Was just going to say what Ness said! Haven't seen Cypher at any trials lately though (could have missed him) I would've thought a running A frame could be equally as bad for shoulders as a 2o2o a frame providing your dog shifts it's weight to its rear on the 2o2o A frame (probably not always happening with drivier dogs I guess?) My dog is quite 'square shaped' so he has to flatten and shift his weight or he does a handstand and flicks off. I agree that the ascent can be worse than the descent too, the noise you hear as some dogs hit the A frame! Crikey! A lot of people seem to be thinking about running contacts now, and I'm sure Daisy Peel's visit will inspire some, looking forward to seeing some running contacts in trials!

Do you think it could also be the quantity of dogs they have trained and their experience from that?

I challenge you to get a photo of him going over a jump

She is a lovely girl, I think she's gorgeous too. They were parked next to me at a trial when she was a little puppy I have seen some rare colours in Tenties (I believe it was called a dilute fawn?) but can't find any pictures The only colour Manchester Terrier I can find apart from Black & Tan is blue:

That's her Lyndsay
