  1. Thanks Kavik, I'll try that tomorrow. She runs.. weird.. in big wide circles with a lot of momentum, hard to explain, hopefully this will work with her We'll see how we go. I've been watching other MTs on Youtube who have the same running style but have very good deceleration which Trixie doesn't really have at the moment - might work on that a bit too. Example of what I mean:
  2. Does anyone have ideas for teaching a dog to approach a DW safely (and independently)? Not sure quite how to do it without pulling her up and I would prefer not to do that. Last night Trixie, who has been doing both see saw and DW confidently for over 6 months came around a wide turn and onto the dog walk and because it was a bit slippery and she is a maniac she fell off the up ramp near the top, then wouldn't go over it (remedied with some back chaining, treats and lots of happy voices) but I would prefer to avoid it in the future, I don't want her to hurt herself. Maybe some kind of guides?
  3. Good point I'm going to vote to swap ovals!! On second thought, no, I don't like the magpies that loiter up there
  4. I know, I've got my pitchfork and torch ready to fight those show people!! (PS quite obviously a joke )
  5. Yeah that was the other thing - the toilet block. I agree Mirawee... it does seem weird that a purebreed dog association oversees dog sports when you think about it? It was raised last night that there aren't enough agility representatives on the Dogswest committees, if it's all 'show people' (lol) then they are not going to be pushhing for improvements to the bottom oval or a toilet block because it doesn't affect them, let's be realistic. I'm not sure what the no desexing thing was about, as RV said you don't have to register your dog (ETA: referring to assocuates)until they are ready to compete, which is minumum 18 months, which should be okay for growth reasons. Sporting register dogs are allowed to be entire so I'm not sure what that was even about
  6. I don't think ACWA is too bad, if you are a confrontational person, which I am not But if you go on the committee you have a chance to make a difference ;)
  7. I didn't think it was bashing, but then I am not a show person :p You're using emotive language RV, no one said "the show people don't deserve the top oval" There's always a bit of annoyance because our oval is neglected, full of weeds and flooded through most of winter, but the top oval is in much better condition. People enter multiple dogs in agility trials too. How much is a usual show entry?
  8. It wasn't that bad!! They raised a good point about associate members not having voting rights though I thought.
  9. He's not a puppy, he's huge!!! And grown up looking!! And so muscly lol
  10. I have two of those too Tassie, love them, so handy. Can adjust them so they don't get too tight. Can't really tug on them though.
  11. Yep there is normal instructed classes from 7-8pm, set up at 6.30pm. The AGM is at 8.30 Usually the dogs just get left in the cars while the AGM goes on (usually takes about half an hour or so from memory)
  12. Yippeee!!! Will keep an eye out for the serious job of 'puppy socialisation' :D A selfless thankless task but someone has to do it
  13. You get expelled if you don't go... and people think you are fictional... :p It is also just full courses set up... I still can't run so no point in going If I could just do work on contacts it would be ok ;) Oh yeah forgot you have a busted ankle
  14. There is seniors training but will be earlier and probably quite squishy and hectic... It's okay you don't need to go to this one, it's the ACWA one :D
  15. Yep they confirmed it's on, and the AGM (free cake!)
  16. Radar is showing that it is mostly gone though
  17. I'll miss Gizzy - a very special little man.
  18. Dunno, I just don't feel comfortable there!
  19. What about the Gosnells trial? I'll be in Shark Bay, and I dislike Gosnells
  20. No normal trial on the 3rd, just Teams, snooker and gamblers.
