Are You Not Allowed To Dislike Certains Dogs Around Here?
pie replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Me too! :D Yep I do this too then I shout out the window "Ewww I hate *insert breed*" Not really :p My OH used to joke that a lot of the people in our neighbourhood probably thought I was always checking them out, but I was actually always looking at their dogs  Oh well probably gave them a confidence boost at least  -
Personally - if I PTS without attempting to fix or at least identify the problem - I'd feel like I let my dog down. Especially if it bit me because I had done something like pick it up when it was highly aroused. It's just not that black and white for me and I can speak from experience here. Not to mention that if the dog was the way it was due to the way I was treating it then the issue could arise with a future dog also if I had not been corrected myself. Before I had to deal with this situation myself I did have the view "if any dog of mine bit anyone it would be PTS with no hesitation" but now I view it differently - but that's just my opinion. It's easy to have all the answers when you're not in the situation yourself, and it's easy to say 'I'd PTS' when it's not your beloved dog on the vet table. No doubt I have offended people with my view

Of course everyone has their likes and dislikes, but you have to respect and appreciate the fact that the person whose dog / breed it is most probably loves it and thinks it is the best breed/dog in the world. Sometimes I think people should keep their thoughts to themselves, it's not your dog so why feel the need to express your opinion on it? Not necessarily you Puggerup just something I've noticed lately. I see it a fair bit, and have even heard someone say to an excited expectant puppy owner in a disgusted tone with a screwed up face "Ugh why would you want to get that breed" - just not necessary at all. If it's not your dog then it's none of your concern IMO. Obviously if it is being aggressive that is a different matter and you should at least ask the owner to put the dog away when you visit. Sometimes you need to ask yourself if you are being supportive and helpful rather than judgmental. Being Judgmental doesn't help anyone. -
Your strong dislike for this dog is obvious, but it's not your dog so it's up to your friend what she wants to do - she obviously loves the dog so can probably do without you telling her to PTS. No I would not PTS for that - there are a number of factors involved and the dog should never have been near her face when it was in that state - I hope she can get help from someone who will teach her to read the dogs behaviour better and help the dog with its issues. If the dog can't be rehabilitated after some attempt at least then I would consider PTS. Definitely shouldn't be rehomed IMO.

They are really striking! I think they'd be too big for my dogs though and I just bought them some Boomerang tags - no more hanging tags woohoo

 Yep it is cheaper - but not that much (For Virgin) Small Pet 0–10kg $55.00 Medium Pet 11–20kg $75.00 Large Pet 21–30kg $100.00 Extra Large Pet 31kg + (max 65 kg)$100.00 + $4.00 for every kilogram over 30 kg Even Kyzer would be classed as 'medium' once you add the crate weight on! I guess buying an airline crate for a little dog is much easier and cheaper though - the big dog ones are expensive!!!
-
Oh big tough Rosie! My two aren't storm phobic but I'm always keen to keep them that way, so last night we had a merry game of isqueak chasing when the thunder started  And I gave them a chew each when I left because I didn't want them to go out the back - dogs behind us are storm phobic and were barking and crying when the thunder went I don't want my dogs to 'catch' it!

Oh squee, I love ETTs :D Yes the BB fact sheet for Tenties has them at $200 - well they are at least triple that now. (It also puts them in the top ten family breeds - 5th place - with designer mongrels in 2nd ) I'm surprised ETTs are that expensive TBH, Manchester Terriers are much cheaper, on mains, and ETTs are essentially a Mini-Mannie, wouldn't expect the health testing to be much different? Well breeders can charge what they wish anyway.

Bendigo Man Threatens To Kill Pet Cats If They Wander Into His Yard
pie replied to Peace_Of_Mind's topic in In The News
This man is entitled to trap cats on his property, however he should take them to the pound, rather than putting up threatening notices and harming the cats. Agree - in my old neighbourhood I got sick to death of neighbourhood cats roaming in my back yard stirring up (and beating up) my dog, coming through the dog door into my house, mating loudly in front of my bedroom window in the middle of the night and just causing a disturbance in general. If you love your cat, keep it on your property away from cars, violent sickos and dogs and spare a thought for the people whose quiet enjoyment your cats are disturbing. If you want your cat to be outside but stay in your yard perhaps you can put these up http://www.oscillot.com.au/ -
Yep totally understandable! Aww poor little rejects
-
Hmmm I'm the same Ptolomy - I would be bouncing off the walls!
-
Silly Jilly! Wow hope you do get a puppy, I want cuddles, squeeeeeee Banjo won't know himself :D
-
Yes, but the problem with that is some breeders are not. You can't deny that there is a genetic factor, you just have to look at different breeds to see some are more prone to aggression.
-
Awwww squeeeeee how cute!! Do you have any names in mind? Are you going to use a real Aussie name?
-
