I imagine your Iggy's coat would be very similar to my Manchester (can see every little mosquito bump on her! Pom Breeders in Perth are rare unlike east coast. Can we buy the puppy from east coast and ship it to Perth? Does this allowed to buy puppy from other state and ship to another state? Yes - a lot of people do this - my last pup was from Brisbane and I am in Perth :)

I have a squeak killer too who is 6kg - and we also store the survivors in a safe place (the freezer :laugh: ) your BT sounds like a machine!! Try the Dexter elephant version - squeaker is protected by the elephant feet. In my local shop it was also cheaper than the isqueaks and cuz balls.

My dog is 7 and I think he would be better with an elderly person than with us... he can be a bit ball crazy and has a habit of hunting for rats / ball chasing but I'd say 22 hours of the day he just likes to snooze and when my mum is looking after him he picks up on her quietness and just follows her around snoozing in the sun and he particularly loves fossicking in the dirt when she is gardening :) I think people can sometimes say they want an elderly person because the dog gets stressed out with hustle and bustle and groups of people, I have seen a lot of TTs / MFs that are anxious so it wouldn't surprise me if this was why they were saying they wanted her to go to an elderly person. Mine fits this description and I can see how he would be better with an older quieter household. But sometimes they say an elderly person because the dog is not good with kids, which can be a problem if grandkids visit often...

As Perse said they are not a registered breed - about 20 years ago they tried to get recognition but weren't allowed because they are not a miniature of the Fox Terrier, so the breeders split up and some went for recognition as the Tenterfield Terrier, and some stayed as mini foxies. There are slight variations between the two standards including foot shape (TT says round foot, MF says oval foot), but the breeds are very similar.

Yes the dexter the elephant is the toughest of the lot - my dogs are yet to kill one - Isqueaks get killed in one sitting.

I feed every other piece of chicken - but not drumsticks, my dogs are small though (9 & 6kg) I probably would if I had a large dog.

I think sometimes people think their dogs are fussy but they are just not hungry because they are being fed too much! I know that was the case when my boy was a pup - reducing his food (and introducing a second dog - though you don't have that issue) led to him eating his meals with a lot more enthusiasm. I can't see exactly what is in your bowls but if they get fed twice a day it seems like a lot of food for small older dogs I love the photos :laugh: Particularly Danny's look of disgust

The only way to know what is really going on is with a heart ultrasound - I'd do that so I knew what I was dealing with. It cost me approx $400 from memory and was arranged through my usual vet (visiting specialist). How sad for the new owners :-( not a great start for the pup.

I'm so sorry to hear this news LP - Leo was a very special and well known dog on DOL, and my first introduction (online) to Aussie Shepherds when I joined DOL. Such a stunning dog, I still have that puppy photo of him etched into my mind - how can one puppy be so adorably fluffy. A very beautiful tribute to a special boy. My thoughts are with you. RIP Leo

Yeah I looked up the costs of the Spirit when we went to Tassie -

It's a 29 hour drive for us to Adelaide, as opposed to a 47 hour drive to Brisbane - just around the corner :laugh: ETA Poor Tassie has to travel regardless - no Nationals down there!

I agree - our family dog was never fussed over and lived on Go Cat biscuits her whole life (didn't like dog biscuits) and lived to 18! I know people who spend so much time and money taking their dogs to holistic people, specialists, only the finest raw diets etc and these dogs seem to have the most health issues - I wonder if it's just that they aren't picked up in the dogs where care is more 'relaxed'? I think you have to find the balance between being neurotic and spending your whole life freaking out about things that could happen, and preparing specialised meals for your dog and wrapping them in cotton wool - or you can relax and just make the most of the time you have with your dog and face the fact that shit happens

You only need the DogsSA membership for trialling, if you are training at a club you just need to be a member there, whether or not you are an ANKC state body member doesn't usually make a difference. I'm confused, why are people yelling at you for using equipment
