I stuff a kong with the 4legs treats from the supermarket or some Natures Gift tinned dog food. Quick and easy. I don't freeze mine because my dogs are slow at eating it anyway

Puppy Purchasers....taking Your New Puppy Home
pie replied to ellz's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can update you with what I got with my new puppy last week I was happy with it and couldn't really think of anything else I would need, except maybe an extended pedigree but it is easy to find on the net anyway. Perhaps some pet insurance but that isn't crucial. Puppy flew over and the puppy pack was mailed out in advance, she didn't supply any food due to puppy being flown but we had discussed which food she was on and I bought it before she arrived) Display folder contained: - Usual papers for pedigree and microchip, vaccination card - A sheet with a bit of history and description about the breeder, mentioning that if you ever need to rehome your puppy to contact them, and talking about if you wish to breed your dog to contact her to discuss and help find a suitable Stud dog etc, with emphasis on the fact that they had worked hard on the lines for 20 odd years and they didn't want their work undone with reckless breeding. I thought it was a good thing to have in there for emphasis. - Diet sheet - Very informative document about 4 pages long going over toilet training, teething, training, breed temperament, health, grooming, what to expect, it was very good and in depth - Copies of DNA tests for vWD for both Sire and Dam - Two page guide to children and dogs and how to handle situations - Photos of Sire & Dam Also in the parcel: - DVD called "Caring responsibly for cats and dogs" - Pink fluffy squeaky bunny toy (in addition to the one she put in her airline crate) - Chew treat I was really happy with it and it was very informative. I haven't had time to watch the DVD yet (I've been too busy playing with the puppy ) But I'll watch it this weekend to see if it is any good. I think that was all from memory but will double check it when I get home. -
My new puppy climbed out of her bunnings pen (2 packs in a square) within an hour of first being put in there First up and over the side, then by jumping onto the crate and over the side. I put chicken wire along the top like a sort of roof that just goes around the perimeter on the inside to stop her being able to climb out, it was all I had on hand at the time, and put the crate in the middle instead of near the edge. She hasn't been able to get out since. I agree with not using the springs - they easily work themselves loose, I used cable ties instead. I put the pen on black plastic and put Paving bricks around the outside to stop it being pushed around. It's inside the house.

Hypothetical: Dog Food Question
pie replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Me too. It has no jelly bits in it I also like the Ziwipeak but it's hard to get, and NG is at most supermarkets. -
Ptolomy - did you get the Titres at the usual vet or are you using a new one? I'm very curious to get Kyzer redone now after he has been out to an aboriginal community a few times to see if his Distemper levels have risen.

Wow that is cheap! What do you do now? Do you revaccinate because the Parvo levels are low? Is there a Parvo only vaccine?

When we got Kyzer the breeder gave us a towel from the whelping box and a Tiger teddy, looked to be from the op shop, he loved it until he killed it It was bigger than he was at the time. Here he is cuddled up with it the day after we got him, awwww I thought that was nice. I wish I'd saved it from being killed now Apart from that I got an extended pedigree, vaccination card, diet sheet explaining what he was being fed and when to change to three meals then two meals etc, some food, chicken frames, dog roll, basically a few days worth of food, puppy purchase receipt, microchipping paperwork, nothing really out of the ordinary. I didn't get any photos emailed, I would've liked some, but we did visit at 4 weeks and took a few photos. I'm not sure what the other puppy will come with, probably not a whole heap because she's being flown from interstate. -
From memory I believe the OP has a Bull Mastiff?
-
Oh, I read it as he was competing at the time, my mistake. Still horrible though. Do they know the cause?

Gosh, what a tragedy With so many people watching on too, RIP Focus. Oh no, poor Raven How sad. I was wondering how she was getting on.

Oh Deelee , my thoughts are with you and I don't envy you for making the decision you did, for what it's worth I think you made the right choice. RIP Evie

Sorry to hear what you're going through JulesP. We're having this issue with our old girl at the moment, she lives with my parents now and is about 18. I've always thought a dog will tell you when it is time to go, but she really isn't at all, she is having small fits occasionally, very short, then will get up and is perfectly fine, bright eyed, and normal. I'm going up to see my mum this weekend, and I think we'll have to have a very good talk about it. It's just so hard to make a decision when she is herself 99% of the time There is no vet in the small town they live in. I am finding myself wishing that she would just make the decision for us, or at least give us a definite sign.

Aloveen turned my old dog into an itchy dandruffy mess, so I used my MooGoo on her and it worked well, has no soap or SLS in it. I also use it on myself. www.moogoo.com.au

Jenni, where is the Sunday training? I need to found somewhere good too, I'm still traumatised from my last Puppy Preschool experience

My Tentie had some symptoms when he was about 9 months - laid down and when he stood up couldn't straighten his leg. I was advised not to worry or make any decisions until he had finished growing, after a few weeks he was fine and has never had a problem since.

Hi Kenny Is your breeder in SA? I would've thought they would be your best bet for advice because they should have a fair idea of the lines behind your pup and the 'history of ears' :p I think we require a photo of your girl
