Bugger! My wish list was huge too! Hopefully I get a Christmas bonus so I can place an order anyway
-
You're right ncarter - no paralysis ticks in Perth. How small are they? I have heard people talk about 'stickfast fleas' which aren't like normal fleas that move, they embed their head in the skin and stay there.

Does anyone know if they are going to be doing the free shipping yet? My wish list on the website is huge!

I Know It's Been Asked Before...

Yep, nothing quite like seeing your cute adorable new puppy scoffing her own poo You just can't look at them the same way ever again -
I just approach the dog with the tube in my pocket or behind my back, walk around, pat the dog, then out of their view get the tube, hold the dog, squirt the drops in and give the ear a nice rub. It's never failed me before, worked for my brother's dog, who wouldn't let them put the drops in. Just need to be confident and quick and don't faff about

I tried the pineapple on mine and it didn't work. Still trying to find a cure. Blerk. Some of the suggestions I've seen in other threads: A product called Thrive D added to their food Stalking them and sprinkling white pepper / a few drops or Tabasco sauce on their poo just before they try and eat it -
That's for sure Mine has 'losing teeth breath', blerk! Enjoy your puppy, they are so adorable when they are little babies If only they came pre programmed though
-
Has he still got his baby canines? I know he's not much older than my pup and she still has hers.
-
Kyzer is ball mad (and I think he's a bit older than Rosie??) but his teeth are fine, he only ever really has Cuz balls though, no tennis balls. Maybe it's the tennis ball even when it is supervised? Can you throw them out and replace them with the Air Kong tennis balls (I believe they are non abrasive?) Perhaps kill the squeaker first for sanity reasons
-
Kyzer - make 6 more weavers and work on getting him doing 12 consistently A frame contacts - work on getting them independent Some basic jump grids although I only have 4 jumps and a tyre, might need to make some more! I want to make some proper ones with metal uprights like at training. Not sure what else with him Trixie - Just some basic puppy games and crate games really. The Christmas break always goes for soooooo long I wish we had an air conditioned indoor arena
-
Yep, me either, and I'm not outgoing enough for it, it requires a person that can pester everyone into getting organised etc
-
Mine would be: SOCIALISE - get your pup used to as many sounds, places, things, people etc as you can. BE CONSISTENT - others have already covered it ENJOY YOUR PUP - They grow up so fast, make the most of it!
-
Yep Flyball would be awesome! And I would like Earth Dog but it probably wouldn't affect you I thought I read somewhere that Lure Coursing was forbidden in WA for some reason? Apparently the JRT club have a lure racing setup. The Tentie club was going to make one but I don't know if it ever eventuated.

My note for the thread - dog related too! I wish we had Lure Coursing in WA

2010 Training/title/goals Wish List
pie replied to Seita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Okay I am going to post in this one - I didn't post in the 2009 one - and someone can hunt me down if I don't do what I say This year was a year of distractions and interruptions but I have a great feeling about next year! KYZER: In 2010 we MUST enter an agility trial (I know, I say that every year )! I'm sure he's capable of Novice Jumping, I just need to get off my backside, stop making excuses and become a member of Dogswest and enter a trial! Agility wise we need to work on perfecting our weavers, contacts and see saw. I'm thinking about joining another agility club so that we can get more training in each week. The nationals are in Perth in April and it would be great to be able to compete there, although the thought of it is rather terrifying! TRIXIE: First and foremost I am concentrating on her just being a puppy Next year I would like to enrol her in an obedience club, I think she'd enjoy it and be good at it, and I'll just keep doing foundations for agility with her. There's no hurry. Overall, I'm feeling rather positive! -
Howdy fellow West Aussies

Mine came in a hire crate on the plane too. I crate her in the car when we drive so she gets used to it and leave her in there at training, don't trust her not to eat the seat belts etc I also take her for drives wearing the harness occasionally so that she gets used to both methods.
-
I was doing this on the weekend with my pup. For the stage where you stand on the leash, call them out and let them find their way back into the crate, she says to be patient, but MAN! I was waiting for about 10 minutes I'm sure! Can't help you with you query though, she hasn't progressed that far, but my other dog drives in, I didn't do 'crate games' with him but did teach him 'in your crate' and he knows what it means. What treats were you using? Was it something they were crazy about?

I have it, strong menthol smell, makes my skin feel funny where it splashes on after a shake so must make the dogs ears feel weird ;) Kyzer sulked for hours after the first use (I think it was from the strange menthol feeling) but I have used it a few times now and he is pretty much fine, and his ears no longer get that doggy ear smell. I used to use diluted Malaseb. Never used the Leo ear cleaner.

Agree, I think a few people in this thread are getting the terms mixed up. -------------------------------- I personally don't think a vegetarian diet is right unless it is required for health issues, a lot of the posters in this thread have already said what I was going to say.
-
I'm 90% certain I saw them at City Farmers, is there one of those near you? You could give them a call and ask if they have them? Here is the store list: http://cityfarmers.com.au/contactus.html
-
I've seen these in one of the pet shops - I think it was City Farmers in Southern River?
-
Neither for me too From memory mine had: Trixie had C4 at 8 weeks and C3 at 12 weeks. Kyzer had C4 at 6 weeks and C4 at 11 weeks

Thanks for the feedback. He does multiple bobs, I move around, he stays there, I reward him, then release. He drives to the contact if it is just on the ground too. It seems to be more of the weight shifting that is the issue, or the rear legs coming off, not so much the touching of the contact, he does that fine! No I wouldn't be giving him timeouts at this stage until I can get an idea that he knows what he is doing, I was going to get the clicker out and see what he offers me and go from there really. He does blow me off at times but that's another issue altogether Yes we have fantastic people here but I am rather shy and my dog gets nervous around strangers. I'll bring it up at training next week but it is hard to figure what is suitable for my dog because he is small and everyone is used to BCs
