  1. Bwahahaha naughty Rosie! RubyStar can sympathise with you on that one RFT :D I think she should have a grounding exemption for sunday
  2. I think I have just the answer to cure you of this problem Hmmm yes I thought after I typed that I might be signing myself up for something :D Yes RS soft pats & cuddles are good but so is being able to wash a dog in Winter and it drying in 5 minutes without the use of a dryer
  3. :D No more dogs for a long time, got to 'un-break' my two first Sometimes I do wish I had a fluffy dog that I could groom though. I love brushing dogs
  4. Yep it's pretty damn cute that's for sure.
  5. Thanks TSD, lots to think about there, yes my handling does need a lot of work too and I'm a reserved person which probably doesn't help things! He is interested on the start line stay, coiled up, ready to spring, leaps off the start, then once he has done about two jumps he is over it! I use just a verbal but sometimes he doesn't hear me if it's windy or noisy so I should really start using a signal as well I think.
  6. Well the wheels seem to be falling off for me and my boy Kyzer :D , the last few agility trials have been a mess and he hasn't been paying attention / running around jumps / jumping over contacts / running off. I know he can do it, he is consistent and enthusiastic at training, but at trials he is switching off and I want to nip it in the bud now. I want to work on improving our bond, I'm pretty sure he doesn't really care if he is with me or not, would rather do his own thing, doesn't care much for praise, which I think may be part of the problem. It has already been suggested that I hand feed him all his meals or his meals come out of my pocket and are given as reward for training. So I'm after any ideas on how to improve our relationship, also any other suggestions from more experienced people who have had similar issues would be appreciated. He is the first dog I have trained and it's really frustrating me! Even if this isn't the issue here our relationship could do with some work anyway. Thanks in advance.
  7. Bugger Maureen! Haven't seen you in ages. Is it Aussie puppy breath? :D
  8. Also try asking in here: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=106088
  9. Trixie said she doesn't mind off topic chatter in her thread
  10. I don't think SR train on Tuesdays? ACWA & Dobe Club have Tuesdays.
  11. Yep it's the Perth trial but it says it's at Canine? My helpful suggestion was giving Amypie Beans to run - that would clearly show her that the frustratin she is feeling with her dog is nothing when given a masters dog to run, with absolutely no skills whatsoever MY brag for today - I won second prize in the raffle - a spiffy new bar jump Yes maybe we could trade :D Well done on the raffle! I'm one of those people who have never won anything in a raffle ever!
  12. Fingers crossed for a full recovery for Hudson :D Thank goodness your ex was with him and took him to the vet!
  13. I wasn't being negative - I was frustrated It's all good, I did some training with Trixie which put me back into a good agility mood At least she is enthusiastic. Yep got the new car on Thursday :D Soooo much easier for dog stuff! Can leave the crates in there and put the tailgate up. Our next trial is on 31st July.
  14. :D :D :D ^That pretty much sums up my day
  15. Ask Ptolomy She had to put up with my frustration All bad bad bad - next trial is at Canine and if he is still mental / away with the fairies / off his head there then I'm going to have to come up with a different plan. Bloody dogs! :D
  16. Trixie says no one is allowed to rant on her birthday :D Just joking - yes don't you love off lead dogs charging at you The weather was pretty hideous - I think it was worse in Rockingham where I was at the agility trial - I'm glad I bought giant heavy duty pegs for my gazebo otherwise I think it would have blown away!
  17. That looks like it RS, I think last time we parked near the T section of Berndt & Sinclair? I'm going to park there too. If it rains... dunno? I have a gazebo? It is Trixie's birthday today :D
  18. awww just keep looking at the puppy pics and ill be sure to share more so you can experience it vicariously through me I'll keep looking at them if you post more (subtle hint)
  19. Yes I have that problem too, if it's too easy the dog gets it wrong, yet he can pull off the trickier courses! I always thought it was because he thought they were boring but it's probaby like you say Vickie - staying connected, when you're doing a lot of crosses and calling the dog and he has to really follow you he probably doesn't get a chance to disconnect, but on the straight boring ones where you're just running in a line it's harder to stay connected. Never thought of it that way before!
  20. I'm not aiming to run my dogs the same at all, there isn't that much of a size difference really (one is a 300 dog and one is a 400 dog, similar proportions) but even just from doing basic training with Trixie I can see huge differences, Kyzer is small and darts this way and that, is quite nervous so doesn't like working with a huge amount of distance or being sent out to jumps far away (need to do more work with this) can turn on a dime so I can't turn away from a jump until he has pretty much taken off, Trixie is faster, but longer strides, wider turns, commits to tunnels etc earlier, I can see I'm going to have to do more distance work with her or she's just going to end up jumping all over me because I'm going too slow  Good luck! I got to that point with Kyzer too, he was doing well in training and we needed to start trialling because the trial environment is half the challenge isn't it! He does well in training, we rarely have a really bad training session, but at trials it just falls to pieces! Last night at our closed club trial we ran a Masters jumping course clear twice (first time I got a bit lost though - so many jumps! :D ) because it was just like a normal training night, but at trials he just zones out most of the time. Still trying to figure out what the problem is, I suspect it's a combination of my nerves, a lot of barking dogs & people, and maybe getting tired throughout the day. We're going to be in novice agility forever
  21. Awww cute! You finally saw it!!!!!!
  22. Priorities  That's cool valley. Yes I have an agility trial but it's in Rockingham - may be a bit of a journey for you!
  23. I was going to bring banana cake! Miss Trixie says "no way will you see me in my birthday suit, it's too bloody cold!!" ;) She's wearing a coat almost 24/7 lately, and now I think she looks strange when she has no coat on
