  1. I like the gripsoft ones but I use the sidecutter style. They last ages and I do my dogs' nails every two weeks or so. Have heard good things about the shear magic ones though. Given up on buying any from the supermarket, they are pretty much always rubbish and not sharp enough
  2. Cider she was having a blast - can't fault the enthusiasm there! I missed the Classic - last year missed it because of KC, this year had a work trip to Bali, maybe next year  Glad to hear everyone had fun and had some great results
  3. One of our Chi's used to do that. He'd take a chunk and go to his favourite spot, put it down, then eat it. My Manchester does this - i think she doesn't like to eat alone so will grab massive mouthfuls of biscuits and carry them to near where we are, spit them all out and then eat them - strange dog! She's always done it, unless the other dog is in there eating with her
  4. Well done aussielover on your titles - the first ones are always so special. Nice going getting two in one weekend :D And congratulations TO and jovi :)
  5. Hey good thanks - which part of WA are you in? There are agility trials held in bunbury, Albany, and geraldton - unfortunately that's it for country agility trials. If you go to dogswest.com there is a calendar of events on the right hand side :)
  6. Nice photos :D I've been meaning to get around to going to Penguin Island for a while now :)
  7. Was linked on the FB post on WA Dog Shows. Here it is
  8. There was a promo video - looks to be some sort of contest to determine a top dog - maybe they will have to teach them agility or something?
  9. Mine sleep in crates in the bedroom - best thing I ever did was stop them sleeping on the bed at night - we all get a much better sleep this way and wake up much cheerier :D now the thought of them sleeping in the bed creeps me out  If I am by myself I will sometimes let one on the bed but two people + dogs is awful - and I have a king size bed! Even when we go camping the dogs are crated in the tent :p
  10. Looking forward to seeing video of the handsome Hudson in action
  11. They are - this is a statement from them on their FB page:
  12. I have done some happy hurdles at training - at first when they set one up I walked it and thought it should be called horror hurdles but once I ran it I actually really enjoyed it - was a fun challenge. Didn't realise there was a page about them, will check it out
  13. Not to mention the owner took off without exchanging details or checking on the dog, didn't even apologise according to the article - hardly a great example of a responsible dog owner
  14. http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/16064798/family-pet-mauled-to-death/ :( RIP Elfie
  15. Alphabet drills are great - I like them because I'm not very creative and they uncover (and help fix) holes in my training :D
  16. E+H I have these slip leads: http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=807&ParentCat=340 I use them for trials and training, they are easy to get off and on, you can adjust them so they don't close too tight, and I stick it in my pocket when running at training - doesn't take up much space and is really light.
  17. I have the comfortflex harnesses for my two, I really like them, they wear them for walks and I haven't noticed any coat rubbing or wearing. I would recommend those or the Julius K9 harnesses ish posted (they are a little easer to get off and on I believe)
  18. That would have been better but never mind. Next week is going to drag for you :p
  19. I definitely think you should get a behaviourist to assess the situation fully and to help you before this escalates to worse situations, but in my opinion until then (if not beyond) you shouldn't be picking him up, especially not when he is asleep and likely to get startled. Some dogs just don't like it - just because you can pick them up doesn't mean you should. I could relate to a lot of your situations, My Tenterfield terrier is like this - he doesn't appreciate being picked up, doesn't appreciate feeling trapped, and also his crate is his safe place and I am always careful not to reach into it or eyeball him in it and invade his personal space because I know he doesn't like it, and he then knows if he needs a break from the world he is safe in there. I always call him out of his crate before I do anything in there, never drag him out. He is a special boy... and requires a bit of management but we live in harmony the majority of the time :) Also remember that your Boston is a terrier and terriers have a very different personality to pugs, and some terriers can be quite feisty, particularly if you aren't respecting their space. I hope you find some solutions that work for you and Archie :D And please post a photo :p
  20. Yep worth watching the DVD. However there are plenty of dogs who can weave quite successfully that have been taught the channel method or slanted poles so if you'd rather do it that way - go for it!
  21. Nice one! It's a familiar scene to me, fellow Perthie
  22. I have two 7x8 foot Cool puppy mesh walls from Cleanrun - one fits perfectly as a wall (using ball bungees - see picture - get some they are handy - Bunnings sells them in packs for cheap) the other one fits but it's a bit more of a stretch  I don't know why they are slightly different, they are the same brand ordered at the same time.
