  1. all our dogs avoid poo. but buster loves rolling in dead things. not even his "leave it" command will work if their is something dead to be rolled in!
  2. buster didn't life his leg till her was over a year old. lol yes, we laughed at the intense look of concentration he would get onhis face while he peed like a girl. lol harry used to cock his leg at everything 30cm or more high. since he got desexed he's began the squat routine as well. lol
  3. lol i love how we even have a command for tellng our dog when to go pee. ours is "have a piddle" lol

    Goodbye Cass

she had many more years added to her life thanks to you. and she knows you'll always love her
  5. actually buster loves tug-of-war. its his favourite. can you do individual runs? i'll get his dog aggression issues sorted to the point where he can focus on me and not other odgs. but i wouldnt put him in a hugley stressful environment like a flyball team. i dont know if he'll be able to handle that. i looked at all the ways of teaching it. i was wondering how you would. so i might have a go at that. for fun if not anythign else
  6. i noticed that eh. their pretty amazing
  7. ahh yeah. i see. i was going to start training buster that way (decided to teach him to sit after it today) but i don tthink i will now.
  8. yeah i reckon she'll grow out of it. mac used to do that all the time. she's just way to excited. we stillhave to be careful not to come home from school and make too much fuss or she'll just piddle herself again. i think it only happens to dogs that get too excited over seeing you. or if you frighten them. but yeah, mac grew out of it
  9. buster has pretty good manners. i can leave my food on the floor next to him and he won't touch it. he jumps up but i allow him to and he doesn't do it to stranges. he barks at people when they first come to the house but i excpect that so i'm not fased as when introduced to them he accepts them he is seriously lacking good social behaviour with dogs though and i believe for a dog to be a good obedience dog, it should have good manners with both people and animals
  10. where and when? i won't be able to compete but i'd love to go watch
  11. oh wow, i'm hopefully buying a clicker tomoroow. i would love for buster to get more responsive
  12. OOOOOO kelpie border collie cattle dog koolie my favourites their not large but their good
  13. would this work in my situation and if so, how would i change it slightly to do so. buster gets very worked up about other dogs. not the ones he lives with. the ones he see's when out walking or the ones barking at him through fences. i have done some basic work, like getting him to drop when he acts up too much. and also a lot of heel work at home. on leash he seem squite dog agressive, but off leash he is a lot better. i have been teachin g him the "focus" command but am interested in strating this program if you think it will benefit
  14. thast pretty terrible you got treated like that  i understand why some people don't like prong/choke collars but their not bad if you know how to use them correctly. but i don't so i don't use them. simple as that. i don't see the reason for people to be so rude really. you'll get a better reaction out of people if your nice about it. god!
  15. i love doign agility trainging at home. i remember when buster was a pup and i was teaching him to jump. and slowly he progressed till i could call him over from the other side. then he'd jump it with me beside it. now i can send him out in front of me to a jump, tunnel or pause table. i love how much communication it takes. and i love teaching him tricks, fidning out how he interprets my messages. would love to start flyball but havn't as of yet
  16. buster does the same thing. but even whe he's by himself. if you want to walk for excercise, walk alone for now. or with ivan. then, everyday. train at home with chopper. thats what i'm doing wiht buster.
  17. when buster started geting old enuogh i just started teaching him to jump. just because i thought t was cool. about a year later i found out about agility. he's a bit DA and not as motivated as he could be but he's very good at learning. i'm gonna get him some more trainging. my next dog will probabkly be a kelpie. i only relaly like high energy dogs
  18. with a couple of our pups, the first day we had them. their first feed, we always make sure to heandle their food on occasion when their eating. sophie has never had a problem with us taking her food. mac snapped a bit when we first fed her and went to touch her food to check reaction. she was just this tiny little puppy so a sharp"NO" and continueing to take the food stopped her, she hasn't done it since. harry snapped a bit the first time as well. but the same method stopped him. buster is very food possessive with the other dogs. none of them can come near his food or he snaps at them. but if a person walks up to him he drops whatever he has and just stands back. he's a lot better now but he used to be that you couldn't even look at him or stabd near him with his food or he wouldn't be able to eat. all in all. stopping that behaviour quickly is the key. your pup doesn't know its doing anything wrong, if those other 2 dogs could get away with it its okay right? you just gotta show your pup quickly and kindly that NO thats not it. if you wanna take its food thats fine, your going to give it back.
  19. our bitch is on heat and our intact male is skitz. he is whining constantly barking, can't eat. can't stop moving. i ha ve him tied to my chair so he will stop going and getting tangled in the curtains tryihg to see her. any way of calming him down. patting him around behind the ears seems to do the trick. but i cant do that constantly
  20. i try to use myself as much as possible but he's not very motivated. sometimes toys but that brings the other dogs running. so i mainly use trreats. they vary a lot, special dog treats, dog biscuits, cat biscuits, cheese, vego sausage. he loves it all.
  21. Buster is 5 years old and STILL learning heel. but thats my fault. he was a difficult dog and i wasn't consistent till about a year ago. he is still difficult but he is a LOT better then he used to be. he heels well all except when there is a distraction.but even that is improving. at first i used the "haul them back method" it was stupid of me to even expect him to learn. i regret that, but he caught on well to using treats to get his attention and his position right and also when i'm out now and he is pulling towards another dog. i put him in a down position. he has a bit of a whinge but he heels well afetr that
