Giardia belongs to Protozoa, so antibiotics are ineffective. Normally, you would need to check if dogs doesn't have bacterial infection (Salmonella or Campylobacter) before starting to treat for Giardia. I guess some vets would be able to check for presence of Giardia cysts in dog's feces. As far as I know, the treatment include some of the worming medicines. Diarrhoea would be the main symptom, not so sure about vomiting. If I have to risk a guess, I would go for some other parasites, like worms. In any case, they need to talk to a vet.

How is little one doing?
-
Yes, it is called chemical castration. I talked to the vet about it. The quote I got is about $180, and it lasts for a year. You can repeat it every year if you want, but once you stop dog should be fertile again after about a year. Warning, not many vets would do this, hell some don't even know about it. Cheers

Good news. Are they minis or standards?

Hi Here is a post I started awhile ago about negative aspects of desexing. Unfortunately, it soon develop in rather ugly and confrontational way because some people here don't want to hear anything that goes against desexing. Cheers Desexing info

There are some alternatives if you don't want to castrate your dog. One is vasectomy and the other one is chemical sterilisation. Both methods prevent unwanted puppies, but leave hormonal level intact.

I noticed that my dog gets red/itchy paws after contact with salty water. If you go to the beach or have salt water pool your dog may get this reaction.
-
It may be allergy to fleas. Even one flea bite can start the reaction, and it's pain to treat. We had an Airedale terrier before with that problem and it was difficult to manage. However, it's possible. Your vet may also try to reduce your dog's sensitivity to fleas. Not sure how it works though.

Hi I use clippers only for my dog (a standard poodle) about once a month. It's been 9 months and my blades are still ok. BTW, I use ceramic blades which stay sharp longer. I never washed my dog prior to clipping, but to be honest he is never dirty because he swims frequently and I also wash him often. I don't know if this helps you at all. Cheers

Preservative 220 is the same thing as sulfur dioxide, I have a book on food additives.

I asked the same thing on a Poodle sub forum. In summary, for a standard poodle and all dogs of that size and bigger you will need 10.5 inches. For smaller dogs 8 should be ok. There are so many types and models. I have no experience with offset or anatomical ones. I believe they are designed to prevent muscle cramp from prolonged use, but really have no idea if that works. Feel free to post the same question on poodle forum, or any other breed forum that require grooming. You can get breed specific advices. Cheers

I am so not surprised with this. And microchipping is compulsory in some states. The problem is microchipping is politically correct thing to do these days, so as desexing. It is hard to go against the trend. Cheers

My guess would be a clipper rash. It is a combination of hot blades, irritation from clipping and sensitive skin. It seem that white or lighter colour dogs are more prone to it. Cheers

Well Bruno is on a raw food diet. So, none of the above from us. Cheers

God I love my poodle

I hope she'll be fine. I love Danes so much. I am just curious, dis you use flea drops on her at all? Cheers

Hi all I think I have read somewhere that pups on barf diet grow slower. First, is this true? And if it is true, is the growing simply extended over longer period of time? Cheers

I noticed the same thing when Bruno (our brown standard poodle) was 3-4 months old. I almost never saw him drinking. I was worried because it's so hot here in Darwin. I constantly took him to the water bowl and splash his paws or nose in, sometimes he just had a sip, but more often not even that. Now (he is 10 months) he drinks water regularly. I guess if Cody knows where the water is, which he most likely does, you shouldn't worry unless you notice some of the symptoms of dehydration. Cheers.
