  1. Jaeger absolutely LOVES these. Unfortunately I've only found one place in Brisbane (Pet Hypermarket) to carry these and I don't really like shopping there.. Does anyone know of any Aussie stores that can do phone/internet orders? Otherwise can you recommend a similar product? I gave him a Pedigree Jumbone this weekend which looked similar but he ate that whole thing in 20 mins! Ziggies take him days, sometimes weeks and he loves nibbling through them slowly
  2. Thanks guys for the feedback here and thru PMs. I won't be going through these guys interesting thing to add, I was rec'd Clear by our soon to be ex-doggy daycare
  3. need to rant Today was the 3rd day he has come home with the treats we packed uneaten. They say that he isnt interested in them (strange because he LOVES them at home) and they insist that we pack him something extra yummy like a big juicy bone. That's not exactly a helpful suggestion because we've only just started to give him small bones (chicken necks) at home and they are only given under supervision. No way am I going to give him like that something to eat there. Decision has been made, tomorrow will be his last day. edit to add: the more i think about it, the more i realise how unhappy i am with the place. we've been patient but can't deal with them anymore
  4. We initially thought he wouldnt do well by himself at home, so that's why we enrolled him in daycare. But I'm now wondering if we made the wrong decision to begin with :S We are going to scale back his daycare days as of next week.
  5. funny that's what he 'strongly recommended' to me, saying that since we didnt do the first puppy school with them that we should have a private session before we began
  6. We currently have him in day boarding on Monday, Thursday and Friday. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays he is in puppy kindy. They have been a bit vague with how his day there is structured. From what I can gather, when he's boarded he's in his crate for a few hours at a time in the mornings and afternoons, with scheduled toilet and TLC breaks. Sometimes they let him out in the afternoon to play with other dogs. On puppy pre-school days it's pretty much just playing with the other dogs for the day, with scheduled 'nap' times, which they say he doesnt settle down well during. We pack him his kong filled with treats, a pigs ear, a biscuit or two and a raw hide chew. Have noticed that they've only been giving him his Kong lately.. everything else comes home in his bag untouched. I might also add that my husband who drops off and picks up Jaeger from there each day often gets 'lecturerd' by the lady there.
  7. is Chermside up north? I have no idea thanks, will take a look at the website
  8. Jaeger is 4 months old and we send him to daycare Mondays - Fridays. There he does both puppy pre-school and day boarding. At home we had some issues with his crating at first but with more, consistent training he has improved a lot. He now settles down very quickly in the crate and can happily stay there for several hours, no barking/whining whatsoever. At daycare however, they say he doesnt crate well, barks non-stop, etc. We pack him treats, toys, blankie but I guess they're not helping. Because of this, they have suggested we hire a behaviorist to come to us for in-home training (at almost $200 for 2 hrs). I'm really not sure what we will achieve if we do hire the guy to come out.. he crates fine at home and I honestly think that it's a problem with the environment at the daycare facility. Apart from taking him out of daycare, what other options do I have?
  9. We are thinking of taking our dog there for their puppy consolidation classes and would like to hear some reviews/comments. I spoke to the man who runs it (Oliver) last week and he sounds like a fairly knowledgeable man who knew what he was doing. Didn't have good things to say about Bonnie's though (which is where we took our pup for puppy school) Thanks in advance
  10. Husband uses this on our pup and he's gotten used to it.. best used when he (dog) is asleep though
  11. Probably having a horrible day because he's teething, hungry and in boarding (not running around having fun in kindy) I can't wait to pick him up this afternoon and give him lots of hugs and kisses I cooked up some chicken thigh last night and will give that to him tonight with rice. Since I usually feed him one cup of kibble with one handful of meat, do you think that's how much rice + chicken I should give him too? Thanks for asking by the way
  12. A bit of an update. Daycare told us he had runny poo yesterday and again today. On the way home he was extra lovey dovey with us in the car.. turns out he needed to poo and the moment we got home he ran to the backyard and as expected it was runny. I called our vet and he told me there is a bit of a bug that’s been going around as he’s been seeing other dogs who have been having diarrhoea too. Advised us to keep him off food (but with access to plenty of fresh water) for the next 24hrs, and after that resume him on a basic chicken + rice/pasta/potatoes diet before introducing his other food back. He added that if Jaeger begins to have other signs of being unwell to take him to the vet ASAP. We have to delay his 4 month shot another week too. I am pretty sure he "caught" something since his poo on Monday was fine (he was home with me all day) and only became runny on Tuesday when he was back at daycare
  13. thanks so much guys i will have a look to see what other weim owners feed their pups
  14. He's due for his next worming next week on the 10th. Have spoken to Daycare and they said no diarrhea today but that he did have runny poo yesterday. They suggested feeding him a bland diet for the next few days- what kind of foods would that be?
  15. I understand what you mean about good vs poor quality food, but we're feeding him Bonnie as that's what our breeder recommends. Is it okay to not stick with their recommendation? He's otherwise a very healthy puppy and is growing well for his age
  16. Thanks Erny. I've asked Daycare to keep an eye on him today and let me know if there are more signs of blood in his stools. There have been no other signs of being unwell apart from his teething which has left him a little restless at times during the day. I'm not sure if the blood was from the meat? Because since it is fresh it is a little "bloody"
  17. edit- title has been updated to 'diarrhea friday' I'm not sure if this is anything to worry about so I thought I'd ask you guys here. Did the usual routine this morning, fed him (Bonnie puppy kibble + handful of fresh minced meat), took him outside to go potty and he peed and pooped (a mix of hard and soft stools like usual) Then not 10 mins after we brought him back inside he had an upset stomach and HAD to go.. had some runny diarrhoea which had a little bit of blood in it Nothing has changed with what we've been feeding him and I know he hasn't eaten anything he's not supposed to be eating. Husband thinks it might've been the meat, but the expiration date isnt until November 30th. Puppy is also teething right now (has lost 5 so far) .. not sure if that would have anything to do with it. He is due for his 16 week shot this week (we're taking him on saturday) and he's due for his worming and flea treatments next week. We're both at work right now and pup's at daycare, but if needed I can take him to the vet tonight (they open for emergencies until 9pm) Thanks in advance!

Have you looked at the Snooza pet futons yet? They have various sizes and Jaeger's one fits into his crate perfectly http://www.snooza.com.au/products/pet-futon.shtml
  20. Our breeder recommends keeping him on puppy food (Bonnie puppy) until he is 12 months of age. Sounds fairly reasonable to me
  21. It's a short video but shows what he LOVES doing. He was a suckler when we brought him home at 8 weeks and now at 14 weeks he still is I hope he never stops ;)
  22. aww he's gorgeous!! I'm so jealous!! We really want a blue Great Dane too but we don't have the space for it at the moment If you don't mind me asking, which breeder did you get him from?
