  1. we wanted a large breed dog that didn't shed
  2. I think it's a lot to do with the breeding. Our breeder breeds for calm, laid back, sweet natured spoos and that's exactly what we got. However I have also seen other spoos that have been a bit nutty so I guess choosing the right breeder is as important as choosing the right breed
  3. My standard is not high energy or very active at all. She is a year and 3 months old and perfectly content with one or two 20min walks a day. We might go on a longer walk on the weekend, or take her to the river for a swim, but sometimes we don't go anywhere on the weekend at all and she is happy just pottering about in the backyard. We both work full-time and she doesn't have an issue with that at all. This dog loves to sleep. Her second favorite thing is probably play so we play with her and her toys a lot. As far as barking goes she is a warning barker and will alert us when someone is at the door, but has otherwise never been a nuisance barker. We love this breed and wouldn't hesitate to get another spoo. (We have also had an Lagotto before but she was an older dog and so I don't think I can compare the two.)
  4. an airtight Vittles Vault http://www.amazon.com/Vittles-Vault-STACKable-60-Stackable/dp/B0002H3S5U
  5. usually she wears her own woolly coat but if it's really cold/rainy/snowy she has her weatherbeeta and pajamas
  6. My spoo probably sleeps 18-20 hours a day but she goes to bed when we do, which is around 10pm on weeknights. She will sleep through undisturbed until morning when we wake up. When she was a pup she slept in her crate by our bed, but now just sleeps uncrated anywhere she likes in our bedroom (her bed, her blanket, or just on the floor). The bedroom door is open and she is free to roam but never has. She's a good dog
  7. If she likes the 'look' tell her she can get the same look from a shaggy unclipped poodle
  8. hahaha these photos are soo funny here's my entry
  9. Oooh! This looks great! Do you swim with your dogs? Or do they just go in? How does it work....not sure that Poppy would just hop into the pool without me! Lol! they allow people to go in with their dogs
  10. Is this a Std Poodle or a Lagotto? Never really been a fan of Poodles [has a Poodle face] but gosh he/she is stunning!! thanks, she's my spoo with a slightly hairier than usual face
  11. for pools there is http://www.caninehydrotherapy.com.au/ it's indoors and heated and I remember it being $5 a swim a couple years ago as for beaches, we like Nudgee too
  12. She lives inside and only goes outside when we are home (by ringing the bell on the backdoor). When she's older we'll train her to use the doggy dog and have free access in/out but for now inside is fine. She gets walked at least twice a day, rain hail or shine (ok maybe not hail, especially if it's golf ball sized). Walking in the rain doesnt bother her but we just got her a new Weatherbeeta coat which will be nice to have as the rainy and snowy season arrives
  13. We rehomed our weim 2 years ago when we moved to the US. It was a very sudden move and an extremely difficult decision to make but I know we did the right thing. His new family sends us updates occasionally and I can tell that he is very happy with them. You aren't a bad owner for considering this, clearly you are planning well ahead of time and considering your options. I'm sure that no matter what decision you make your dog will be fine
