Here is a link to information about Oxyrich: OXYRICH Mel
-
Dogs should only get puppy vaginitis up to 7 months of age... If a dog was older than that then it is likely to be an infection... Most cases of puppy vaginitis are treated with antibiotics when it is not an infection at all... I do recommend a Vet visit...but you can opt to not use antibiotics if it is not an infection... Mel

Oxyrich is Stabilised Oxygen it's used in homeopathic remedies... Mel
-
Use ½ teaspoon of Oxyrich + I cup of warm distilled water and make up a douche. Draw some of the mixture into a 12CC syringe (minus the needle, of course!) take her outside and give her a little squirt (in the vulva, not the fanny, this is not an enema). Do this a couple of times a day for 2-3 days then once a day for 2-3 days and it will take care of it. Mel

Since you don't want to use antibiotics, I will see if I can find an alternative method... Mel
-
It is simply a condition caused by the normal sloughing off of cells and part of hormonal and developmental changes. Mel

I didn't even read where it said Puppy That's what I thought it was but then I kept saying she is an adult dog *doh* Mel

Sounds like an infection, I would get it checked out... Mel

Pack Heirarchy In Domestic Dogs

Enters Tia our Alpha dog It's funny watching my dogs eat, it is obvious to see the order... I guess the real eye opener was when Tia had finished her dinner and walked away from her bowl, now with out a sound from Tia...Stanley the male whippet then slowly backs away from his bowl so that Tia can eat whatever he has left :D Now if this was Johnny the male greyhound, Stanley would growl and even try to be aggressive with him... Our order is: Tia female greyhound Stanley male whippet Johnny male greyhound Mel -
We've lost two dogs to bloat, it is believed by the Veterinarian to have been genetic... There are numerous precautions that are taken throughout the racing industry, as when greyhounds are racing they are placed at high risk... My mothers dog died on the Vet's table of a heart attack, my boy Bundy who passed away December 10 last year had already passed away when I found him Ben was 8, Bundy was 5... I stayed for the autopsy, I was so angry that I had to know what this 'bastard' thing had done to my boy...I am still yet to get over it... Sometimes no matter how careful you are, you have no chance...and it is true that once a dog has bloat, it is highly likely that he/she will have it again... Mel

My Little Experiment With Dog Food
greyhoundangel replied to Anna H's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine is even further from scientific I thought you had used the more expensive kibble, that's why I thought I would ask what you used, I have never seen Supercoat be of any use, I actually really do not like the stuff at all...but then again, it probably works well for others! Hills has always been my favourite, just so damn expensive, it was okay when I was working full time...but I have no chance now! My mother had had success with her racing dogs being fed on Chum kibble ;) now I think she uses something else, but there is no difference in the dogs... It's good that you know what works well for your dogs, and I think that's the best that any of us could ever do... Mel -
My Little Experiment With Dog Food
greyhoundangel replied to Anna H's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It's weird because on some dogs I have found improvements on high quality dry food... Didn't say all, but whenever I have seen a dog look 100% better than when it left, generally with a nice thick shiny coat, healthy teeth and gums, I don't know...just looked a million dollars...they were fed on solely dry food... One of the dogs was fed on Eukanuba, one on Purina and the other on Advance... Not to mention that at one stage I fed my dogs only on Hill's and I was happy with the results... Not to say BARF doesn't work, as I part feed BARF...but yet to see anything really special... Mel P.S What brand of dry food did you use? -
How Young Is Your Dog?
greyhoundangel replied to MelodysMum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Tia's DogAge is 38.7! That's 16.6 years younger than the average DogAge for Tia's breed. Johnny's DogAge is 40.7! That's 0.3 year older than the average DogAge for Johnny's breed. (it's hard to judge Johnny as behaviour problems relate to his brain damage and weight problems relate to damage caused at birth, to me he is happy and very active for a dog of his age) Stanley's DogAge is 15.5! That's 6.0 years younger than the average DogAge for Stanley's breed. Mel -
How Many Dolers Feed BARF As A Result Of DOL?
greyhoundangel replied to Ciara's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We always used a mix of both....for example the rescue doggies had last night: Kibble, three of them had an extremely large turkey drumstick, others had mixed chicken pieces (wings, drumsticks etc) and finally the remainder had lamb off cuts (meat and bones)... Generally they have kibble and chicken mince...sometimes with pasta, rice and veges... Mel -
What I have heard from everyone who has the flu vaccine is that yes, of course they still get the flu but it is no where near as bad as if they didn't have the vaccine... I have a lowered immune system and constantly get the flu throughout the year, sometimes symptons last for more than two months...I have been urged by many people to take this vaccine, and I think I will be a fool not to do so next year... I think we need to remember exactly what the word 'vaccine' means: vaccine - immunogen consisting of a suspension of weakened or dead pathogenic cells injected in order to stimulate the production of antibodies Mel

C4 already protects against parainfluenza virus, it's just that the C5 covers both the bacterial and viral... Mel
-
Do people use C4? I did initially and now we use C5, and at one point yes we were using C7... C4 is a C3 plus the most common organism causing Kennel cough, parainfluenza virus...and C5 covers the second most common cause of Kennel cough, bacterial (Bordatella bronchiseptica) as well as the viral strain... Mel
-
A C7 is a C5 + C2 so again no need for the + kennel cough... Mel

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about and he will be back to his usual self soon... Just a thought, is he the type to chew things? bedding, umm anything really? Mel

All my pets are cremated...my all time heart hound, on the anniversary of his death I always light a candle...Stevie's photo I still carry in my wallet to this day, he passed away 7 yrs ago now...kind of hard to believe it has been that long...:D I also have his name tattooed on my thigh in Japanese... My beloved furkids have songs...:D Together Again by Janet Jackson for my heart hound Stevie, and yes My Immortal for my boy Bundy who passed away last year... I've had more furkids that I have lost, but for some reason these two have songs... I've lost four greyhounds and one cat... and many other pets, rabbits, guinea pigs, a rat and a bird.. Mel

That was just beautiful, the story warmed and saddened me all at the same time... That's a wonderful gift you gave her...:D *going off to have a proper cry* Mel

Wow he truly is beautiful and the expression on his face says it all... Wendy, I'm glad I finally found this post and could see pictures of your special boy, what an absolute darling... Mel

That's just so sad... I lost my lamb Pumba to a dog attack, when he should of been safe! He was killed by two Italian Greyhounds, he would not of been scared of dogs as he had been brought up with them, and he was too young to defend himself... He got along perfectly fine with a Bull Terrier cross, and an English Mastiff, not to mention the many Greyhounds that I always have... I actually find that the Italian Greyhounds have such a high prey drive, higher than many I have seen in a Greyhound. They had also previously killed one of my rabbits...:D I wish I had a picture of my Pumba, but unfortunately we didn't expect anything like this to happen and we had only had him 3-4 weeks at the very most... I don't feel I can get another sheep now, although I would love to, but Pumba was really special and it will never be the same... Mel
