  1. We have a dog that is going blind, I don't know whether that's considered the same or not... She has to have eye drops every day to help stop it from spreading  Her eyes are pretty cloudy but I haven't noticed much difference in her, she still appears to see quite well... Mel
  2. So sorry for your loss  Indi obviously had a long and happy life - he was lucky to have found you ;) Hugs, Mel xx
  3. Thanks guys  When Steve gets home I will get him to scan in some pictures to share... My poor sister, she is only 15 and Bert was her world...when I went to pick her up from my mums work she was a mess... I kept her with us for a few hours so she could play with Zhanyah and keep her mind off it... Then it was time for me to drop her back off as John had to go to the Vet and my mum was back in tears saying how much Hayley loved Bert and how great care she took of him Losing King, although we knew it was going to happen sooner or later, he had cancer for some time now - but still, it's like the end of a legacy... He was the very first dog I trained, he helped me learn and earn my stripes so to speak...he had been to so many kennels in WA, passed from one to the next and it was finally crunch time where if nobody took him, he was being put down... My dad said he'll take him and I knew he was useless but he was so big and beautiful and boofy, that I thought who cares, now we will have a dog at home again ;) That's what I orginally got into greyhound racing for, it was a good excuse for me to have a dog again...we hadn't had one since we lost Jo our GSD x when I was 13 I hope this is the end of our run of back luck, this year has been stressful enough and I am only just getting over an illness - I just would like a break Mel
  4. Just when I thought 2005 couldn't get any worse :D Most of you will know Jade's story... I haven't been able to post about King till now as the reality of his death had not set in. He was sent to the rainbow bridge on the 1st July with cancer, he would of been twelve this year... Now I get a phone call to say that Bert, my sisters greyhound who we have all known since he was a pup (Steve and I actually picked him up from the airport), a sweet little boy who is only 3 yrs old, had bloat. He was rushed to the Vet but it was decided to send him to the rainbow bridge too because he was just about to go into cardiac arrest... I can't wait for this year to end, I am devastated, this all can't seriously be happening... Mel
  5. RIP Billy Unfortunately no words I can say will comfort you, but you are in our thoughts... Mel
  6. Absolutely beautiful Mel
  7. Oh Rozzie that is awful Do you know that we have a Fudge and she is a torty too? I have a soft spot for the torty's I guess just like the brindles... RIP Fudge Mel
  8. Time doesn't make it easier, I speak from experience. Having it happen more often does not make it easier. I try and find understanding, although most times I can't. The only thing that I hold dear is that I had the chance to know and love them, that can never be taken away from me. Run free at the Rainbow Bridge Maya - I'm sure Jade and the gang would love to play. Mel
  9. It is hard to read the posts I would love to reply to everyone also and I want to THANK everyone who gave their support and kindest words for Jade... I really felt some comfort... Mel

  12. The right thing to do is always the hardest thing to do in these situations Run free at the rainbow bridge darling girl - I have lots of friends who will meet and play with you there... Mel
  13. It's strange that you didn't notice anything when you had him, that this problem has only arisen now? Hope all goes well, it is common for greyhounds to have throat problems, nothing tragic of course, only really an issue when they are racing... Mel
  14. Sounds like typical greyhound stuff to me... Hope all goes well... Mel
  15. Okay how much exercise are they giving him now? He may well be a bit off colour, of course without seeing the dog I can't say yes or no to what it may be... We take our greys for a 20 minute walk and halfway they are acting distressed Mel
  16. What a beautiful boy, that first picture shows real character in his sweet face... I'm sorry to hear that he has left us, I'm sure Byrce and my Chakra are becoming the best of friends at the Rainbow Bridge... Mel
  17. Beautiful Brax, may he run free... Mel
  18. My beautiful boy, It's been one year since you left me, although I know the choice was not of your own. That morning will haunt me forever, it doesn't even feel as though a year has passed... You were one of the most amazing hounds I have ever had the pleasure to meet, you matured into such an unbelievable boy. You never were taught in the extent that the rescue greyhounds were, but you just did it all anyway... So many people commented on the presence that you had, they could all see what I did those many years before... I know that even though you are not here with me in body, you are here with me in soul and you watch over me and protect me each and every day... When ever I need help, I have such a fantastic group of spirit guides to watch over me, and although I would prefer you here, I can't deny my gratitude that you are one of them... I love you Bundy, you may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten... Love Always Mum
  19. I was recommended a lady by the name of Honey Mel
