  1. What a grand lady she looks - just beautiful. Deepest sympathy to you Sidoney on the passing of Amy. This line just killed me  Sums up the love you have for your girl.
  2. Bloody shows! I won't be there. I wanted to meet Mili. Have a great day!
  3. Oh dear - hope your baby is going to be fine
  4. I have to periodically reduce my dogs food as they put on weight so easily. This is mainly due to other family members giving in to those pleading eyes and feeding tipbits all the time - it soon adds up. Ruling out any health problem, you've just got to be tough and cut the food more. Switch maybe to chicken necks rather than wings which have more fat and reduce his dry food further. It should only take a few days to start noticing a difference. Having said that - I always feel like I'm starving mine LOL. I used to own a shepherd that was naturally very slim, so I can't get used to the small amount of food.
  5. When hearing about Barf diets - I often think people don't feed enough protein. A lot of people mention vegies and chicken mince from lenards (which is great but really has no muscle meat included) just the carcass. I too feed the carcass and other pieces but I also include human grade chicken and beef/lamb mince to up the protein content. Just my opinion.
  6. Hi Nadia I sent a email 5 days ago asking for information and a distributor in/near my area and I have received no reply.
  7. My dogs get bathed at least every second weekend and sometimes weekly for shows. I use the bath as I don't have a hydrobath (my poor back). I have to wash their faces/heads well as they have fairly white muzzles and they get very dirty. I haven't had any problems even though I pour water over their heads with a jug. I use a very gentle shampoo. Can't stand stinky heads
  8. I would definately want one of the consults - any time will do although would prefer 9.30 to 11.30 if possible. K9: If you have 2 dogs is it possible to have 2 x 1 hour per dog sessions or would you prefer 1 dog for the full 2 hours? Thanks Hilary
  9. They probably would Kitkat - did you see the beagle pack run yesterday - going in all directions.
  10. Holly or anyone else that knows What's are the ingredients of the adult VAN dog food? It doesn't say on the link, although I have emailed them. Cheers Hilary
  11. Well done Booker-T. Hope his foot is OK. Cheers Hilary
  12. One of my dogs was a shocking eater when she was little and also not interested in treats, particularly when out of her comfort zone. After trying everything available the one thing she just couldn't resist was dehydrated liver (homemade). This is not the shop bought dryed liver pieces that you can buy which I found are not nearly as good. A couple of breeders I am friendly with make their own and now give me some to use. My dogs will do anything for it. ....now you've got to find someone with a dehydrator
  13. I'll be there if it's not too hot. Hopefully, I'll see you all there. That reminds me, I better register.
  14. :D :D Bob doesn't eat food he inhales it. I think your all a bit delusional - particularly Poodlefan! ;) Now Flynn has me a bit worried
  15. :D Sorry guys. If this is food eating race Bob would beat your dogs hands down.
  16. I would definitely be interested. I would like to come to two different workshops so I can take my beagles seperately (in some ways they are as different as chalk and cheese). Can we have some more information about content, location, price, etc. PM me if you want. Cheers Hilary
  17. So in other words my young dogs should get one more vacination (at 1.4 yrs) and then that's all they will require? I'll ask my vet about this - sounds great. My boy has been vacinated with C5 which includes Kennel Cough. Several months ago at around 5-6 months of age he contracted KC from a dog park but due to the vaccine he hardly had any symptoms, whereas the unvaccinated dogs really got a bad dose. So it really does reduce the illness.
  18. Fin It's all so confusing! After reading just about everything I can find on diet for dogs, I'm still a bit undecided. Barf (which includes fruit & veg); raw feeding (no fruit & veg; commercial, etc - of course everyone thinks they are right. I personally feed a bit of everything. My dogs get a small amount of good quality dry food, human grade mince - chicken, lamb or beef, chicken drumsticks, wings, etc, veg every few days and sardines in oil a couple of times a week. It's not the cheapest diet but it's what I feel happy feeding. I have never had a problem with bones getting stuck and after reading about Neosporosis (thanks Greytmate) just to be on the safe side I now freeze first. Because we love our animals we all obsess about feeding what's best for them but I do know quite a few dogs that are fed purely on commercial and they seem as healthy as mine. : :D
  19. Do they have to be 12 months if done on soft ground and they are fully grown (in height), eg. beagle 9 mths as I'd love to give this trick a go?
  20. To Salli and family So sorry about Tiger. Thinking of you. ;)
