I don't have experience with a big litter but imagine it would be very daunting.... In regards to the milk supply. The more the pups feed the more milk she will produce given she is getting enough calories and fluid. I would definitely feed your girl 4 times a day and if she is not drinking enough try adding puppy milk or formula to her water. Totally agree with Baileys Mum's comment about weighing and ensuring pups gaining the least weight get a helping hand getting onto the best teats. Good luck

Rescued Beagles Walk On Grass For The First Time.
hilaryo replied to hilaryo's topic in General Dog Discussion
*nods* Yes agree with that and it works! I'm a sucker for a sad song with anything sad or heartwarming - always ends in tears with me. -

Thanks Chicko and Claireybell x Yes, Clarabelle very upsetting. Unfortunately beagles are the most common dog breed used in labratory experiments and testing.

Please help beagle breeders worldwide stop our beloved breed being bred for experimentation. The following facebook page has just been set up and provides a link to an online petition. If you love dogs show you care....please! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Oppose-plans-for-breeding-beagles-for-vivisection-in-uk/217354688297659?sk=wall#!/pages/Oppose-plans-for-breeding-beagles-for-vivisection-in-uk/217354688297659?sk=wall For those not on FB - here is a direct link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/petition/oppose-plans-for-breeding-beagles-for-vivisection-in-uk/2877

I just grabbed the number of a Vet who comes highly recommended by a lot of doggie people I know she only works 4 hrs a week in a vet clinic at Manly but is booked out 6 months in advanced but she also runs from home it just means a trip to Melany (Sunny Coast about 1 - 2 hrs from me) but everyone who has seen her raves about her, so I am going to see her as soon as possible as well. Just wanted to say good luck! I found the vet/chiro you are going to see excellent! Expensive first visit but well worth it.

I'd massage the lump downwards while pups are feeding from it.

He had the implant in March 2008 when he was 4 1/2 years. It wore off around Feb last year when he was nearly 6 1/2.

My boy had the 12 month implant. It lasted nearly 2 years!

Yes, they are! Our breed being medium size dogs - beagles. We just flew last weekend from Brisbane to Sydney return with the dogs as our luggage and had no problems at either airport. We always fly Qantas with our dogs. We took carry-on luggage and the dogs were part of our 23kg allowance. We had 3 dogs with one only being a 4-5 mth old puppy. We purchased additional baggage online - 5kg for $35 instead of being charged $10 per kilo over the allowance at the airport. Between the 2 of us, the 3 dogs took our allowable luggage to being over by 8 kgs. So with the additional 5kg extra this left us still being 3kg over. Qantas where great and didn't charged the additional $30 in either Brisbane or Sydney. The hardest bit is fitting your things into a small case so it can go as hand luggage. I took 2 bags and no handbag. I wouldn't put a jumper on Daisy - as previously mentioned it gets very warm inside the plastic airline crate despite the ventilation holes and front opening door. As the dogs are loaded last (after all the normal baggage) she could be sitting in the sun for a short while. Our dogs get stressed when flying but are OK at the other end. Due to stress they pant quite heavily so I would have water and a container to put it in when you get her out on arrival. When you check her in at oversize baggage, they will (or should) us electrical ties to secure the front door of the crate. As you can't take scissors with you, get someone to cut them before you leave the terminal or she will be stuck in there longer than you want. If you decide to fly Qantas, I would ring reservations (not AAE) and tell them you want to book flights with them and you will be flying with a dog as part of your luggage just to be on the safe side before booking.

What's Wrong About Giving Dogs Human Names?
hilaryo replied to W Sibs's topic in General Dog Discussion
:D This thread has given me a chuckle or two. All our dogs have human names. A girl I know has a Shar Pei named "Elizabeth Taylor" and they always use her full name when refering to her, never Liz. -
I'm very happy with RC and dogs love it. I particularly like the smell. Some dry foods I've bought smell like cardboard.

OMG 10 Congratulations Oakway Busy sounds like a bit of an understatement Well done.

Absorbing Puppys Why Does This Happen
hilaryo replied to jeenie in a bottle's topic in Breeders Community
Sorry about your girl! Is she a maiden? Maybe she had a low grade infection or possibly something genetic are a couple of things that spring to mind. Hard to know for sure why puppies die and are then absorbed. In my girl's first litter she had 6 puppies implant with 2 dead and 4 live at 4 week scan. She went on to whelp the 4 pups. Better luck next season. -
Unfortunately no puppies for Macey. She'll just have to go "la naturelle" next season. I am surprised because she is acting and looking pregnant and doesn't have phantoms normally, but it's a human grade scanner setup with an experienced operator so that's that! Best wishes to everyone in April litters for beautiful healthy litters

My girl is now on antibiotics for a nasty UTI which she has never had before. She had just finished a course of ABs 4 days earlier which was a preventive for another problem. I have booked a ultrasound for next Wednesday (4 weeks). I noticed her internal stitches from the surgical AI are now up against her skin on her abdomen - perhaps "something" is growing in there It will be a bit of miracle if there are puppies with what she has been through!
