  1. Dear people

how rude of me to offer advice, you have owned a pointer and therefore know more than my extended years of breeding and research into the behaviour of dogs.

Of course two males will get along great at first go, with no issues at all, and as the younger dog will not be showing any forms of dominance whatsoever towards the older dog as male dogs have done for eons, he will of course not attack the older dog and cause any damage.

Im so lucky to have you for a puppy owner, you must have that magic touch as you what you say will automatically be the case, and even if its in the dogs nature, once you state so, it will be so.

You can pick up the puppy at any time you like, day or night, I will make sure he is groomed and bathed, I will provide all nessicary documentation to go with him at a moments notice.

If i am busy, either feeding dogs, exercising them or even helping a mum birth a litter, then I will drop what I am doing to attend to your needs, they are far more important than the mere dogs.

My address is (insert number of local pound), please do call in when you want, I am presuming that you are the most important person in the world, and therefore will call in when it suits YOU and not anyone else.

    Forever in your debt

    Sir Sarcasm

  2. why are you worrying bout a better 'look' at the groomers?

so what if you stuff up. fur grows back. If she looks bad, so what, its better for YOUR piece of mind, right?

or would you rather put her pups at risk, but at least she would look good?

Id nto have anyone roudn to look, I even dont have visitors when I have a litter. my family know now to ring before they want to come around. ( they think i had 14 litters last year, according to them.. I havent had a litter in about 2 years though heehee)

  3. HAHA you are exactly like me Trisven... today shes not.. tomorow it might be.. day after DEF NOT! then 2 days after that you are SURE she is lol...

I think everyone is thinking 'oh just get the dam U/S done so you can shut up already' about us LOL

I dont think Ill bother.. Ive lost a hecka lot of weight and no pants, show suits to fit, so Im thinking Id prefer to spend the $100 on something I can actually wear without having to hitch it up.. quite embarrasing going to town and having to hold your undies and pants up so they dont fall down....

  4. Its amazing how much you can get by a lil honey........

Do speak (as mentioned) to the VET in charge, ask if it is at all possible either to squeeze you in somewhere, or to have you on stand by notice, so IF he has a spare few minutes, he can call you in. Obv means ready to drop everything on sat BUT if you get it then isnt it worth it?

    a 300kms trip is nothing.

sure you would do that if needed, but if YOU need this done, then YOU have to make the call, either hear now, or later...

  5. Hows this?

A supreme grand champ must be one who has won over 10 BIS at a GR CHAMP show. these can be like stakes classes. There must be a entry requirement, such as 50 dogs?

This wouldnt work in NZ, people enjoy too much the prizes and taking out BIS after BIS....

I personally would like to see once your dog has reached GR CHAMP status, a special show for them, to compete against each other.

  6. Its the same as me Trisven..

Dont want to get the U/S to find out its a NO..... Its not that cheap here either... so dont really want to waste the money.

In poms its not so obvious a week later lol.. One kept me guessing right up to 7 weeks.

(singleton though) This bitch is bigger.

how bout if you go, Ill go?

Im so hoping to get a positive result... I havent had a litter in so long, and my last 3 litters were all singeltons! (1 was a stillborn) I think its just shy of 2 years Ive had a litter!!

    Good luck anyways..

When you decide what to do, let me know so I can book mine in.. or not LOL

  7. There should be a magic 8 ball that could tell us!

Or maybe we need to breed dogs that let us know the minute they have implanted, and are in fact pregnant. some kind of code..

Like bumping your nose, left hand then your belly...

Trisven, you can handle that huh, you can do it? lol

  8. LOL thats so funny!

they might go back to you for next pup?

Had many people come up to me at shows and say they are after a pom.. I say I know, I spoke to you last show and showed you the parents of next litter and never heard from you.. I presume you still have my business card or do you want it again?

They then EMAILED me to ask if I was having any litters soon and that the poms they have seen were far too expensive. LMAO

(you aint getting a show quality dog for just $300 thanks)

  9. Locations.. I cant afford nor want to drive 6 hours to a show... then 6 hours back.. I cant drive at night and its just not do-able a lot of the time. My limit unless its a weekend away is 2-3 hours.

Judges. does it really need to be explained more?

Cost of entrys. I paid over $90 to enter my two dogs... plus add gas, food, its a very very expensive weekend away.

Other things. I have kids, sometimes they can come and more than often they prefer to go to a dog show, but sometimes you have to stay behind.

other exhibitors.. I used to joke that when a particular exhibitor was there Id have to stop at hospital to remove the knives from my back. Its still true. Shes in my breed, but now its just laughable at what she is spouting. Guess someone doesnt like being beaten LOL.

  10. I'm new to the Poms but I'm completely and utterly in love with the breed already (having had mine for 3 months now). She's right up there with the smarts and quick to pick up things, but she's very independent and not so much a lap dog at all, would rather sit way over there by herself then on me. I'd actually consider a Chi as a second dog when mine grows up.

Bitches (poms anyways) are more independant, only coming when SHE wants attention.. Male poms are always ready for pats and attention. I find my bitches prefer my hubby over me, whereas all the males LOVE me.

  11. Im a pom breeder exhibitor in NZ.

at 10 weeks old your pup is still just a baby.

I find the easiest way to train is every hour to hour n half, always after a play, always after a drink, always after a meal. without fail. When they wake up, they have to go straight outside...

If they havent been outside for an hour, take them.

What bonus is there for her to do as you say? You have her penned up all day, she wont bond so quickly to you and therefore training is longer.

Id be thrilled if she only had accidents once a day, dont be too hard on her!

great dogs, although we also have a crested they are just the best to me :)

I have a pack and its helpful, as they all go out together and line up to go over each others spots... very handy LOL....

Let her spend a LOT of time with you, for bonding, when you praise her after going shell want to do it as opposed to not bonding with you and not really wanting to please you so much.

They are very intelligent wee dogs, you can teach her to sit pretty easy, then beg..

Our 'pet' knows so many tricks! his latests ones were back, where he will walk backwards and also fishing, where he goes into a down stay, i cross the room, throw out a imaginary line, say Oh i caught a pom, then pretend to reel the 'pom fish' in, he comes to me, its very very cute and so many people love it.

He also does BANG! where ill make my hands like a gun and shoot him, say bang and hell die down... he knows dance, shake hands, beg, dance, back, sit, stand, speak, fish, bang, down, stay, hide n seek, toys, etc etc et c

  12. singletons are normal for me LOL.

but them I have poms, very short bodies...

Out of the last 3 singletons (and last 4 litters) all but 1 were natural.

1 stillborn. All were above the average size for my breed, but not overly so.

The C section was elective, she went into labor the night before, she ended up having to have a c section 2 hours before we had booked her.

The other bitch had 3 litters all singletons no c sections.

  13. Im not going this year, but how nice of you!

Are you going up to auckland on the 5/6th?

we have a big group, we often share, with poms, pekes, chinese crested, ACDs, swedish vallhunds and even had the low chens in!

(p.s can you tell me how many poms were entered?)

  14. Day 63 for my last one. Was hard slog to just get a mating, she must have remembered what it meant and was so over the whole puppy thing. good mum though. singleton from 3 matings. she was a tiny bitch, and both hers with me were singletons. (one was stillborn)

Her half sister always had a c section. she went early one one, late on next.

My first ever litter was a pup that slid past the opening and blocked the way. She then had uterine inertia next time.
