  1. We had a pom who had a silent season and mated. Had 2 pups from it and had normal seasons after. Her next whelping we desexed her, as it was the 3 C section limit. (we didnt desex her at the time of the c section)
  2. I allow exp doggy people here for the whelping, it keeps me company and she is well known to the bitch. I dont allow strangers near the pups, but im not going to tell any visitors not to even look at the pups! usually they are off the floor, and no touching is taking place, from around 5 weeks they are allowed to hold, we go through so much hand sanitizer! If its a singleton, then they go everywhere with me from around 8 weeks old, even to shows, staying in the show trolley with mum. lots of social interaction, if they are staying or going, and i like them to be car savvy (not get sick when in the car) and to have learnt to sit, and toilet trained. When you have other dogs etc, they are introduced when mum is ready, never before.
  3. Sounds like my girl.... was sure she was up to around 7-8 weeks preggy.... didnt get a big belly, but got milk! all the signs.. then..... just..nothing her belly never got round.... you could get milk but there was nothing there. she better not do it next time! oh, she didnt have a false labor or anything either..
  4. When you breed a litter and have 10 pups, you get a pretty good base to choose your next stock. when i breed, i get 1 or if im lucky, 2 per litter. I dont have a good base to choose my upcoming stock. You can sell your remaining 8-9 pups, sometimes i have to sell the whole litter, which consists of 1 pup. Just becuase that bitch has had a singleton litter, doesnt mean i can back to back to back breed her, i still have to rest her. You tend to get more money from the sale of 8-9 pups than i do of selling 1, so you are in a better position financially to get more bitches. (thats taking it to the extreme, but our dogs have to pay for themselves when they can) You can say well its the breed etc, our fault for having dogs that dont have many, but when your chosen breed has a average litter of 2, we dont get much choice. So are you berating us for having 3 litters which sometimes add up to 5 pups when, if we had dogs that did have large litters we would only need 1, or are you jealous?
  5. I have had the public ring me, on 2 occasions. First one, she had a male pom that she said she would *let me* use on my bitches. me... Oh.. um.. ok.. whats his pedigree name? her... Oh, he doesnt have any papers, i got him from a pet shop me.. Oh, so you dont even know if hes a purebreed then? her... oh he is, he is that lovely gold color all you breeders want. me.. well have you at least health tested him? her... done what????? yes i would have the privilege of using her maybe purebred but unreg untested dog on my bitches, for a unrelated puppy of mine.. with papers of course. I still think she was mystified why i politely (for once) told her i wouldnt use him another one wanted to know if Partis were common, and would i be interested in using her boy.. he did have papers, he WAS patella cleared but he weighed about TWICE the normal size! my girl is on the tiny side anyways, so putting a 5 kg dog on a just-pushing-2kgs was out of the question. I get calls asking to use my dogs, but it kinda blew me away that they would think i needed to use their dogs! lol
  6. She will have to pay here, and if she gets a letter from you the breeder saying the puppy is desexed and will not be used for breeding, how much it cost etc, she will have to pay our EXORBITANT GST (govermental stupidist taxing) on the price of purchase... of course, you can sell him for 200 AUd, if his purchase price is 1,200.. the other 1 k is for his lodging LOL. customs here dont need to know that. How awful of me! she will however be up for a 33 maf fee, and a 17 admin fee that she has to pay.. depending who she gets when she gets the paperwork done is up to them charging, when we went to get fiver, the people ahead of us had to pay GST, but another guy didnt bother with us, just said oh, here, gave bryan the paper and walked off.. so its a matter of luck! Do give her my details, i can help out where i can if im heading up to aucks i can give her grooming tips, or she can come see us at a show!
  7. I paid around that to get Fiver over, so the price is ok... I got my lovely mentor to do most of my work though, so it worked out a lil cheaper. Im glad its just a pet, tell the lady that Im here if she needs any advice, grooming etc! Id love if she could take him to a show in aucks, i can meet one of your babies!!! You are right, merles are not accepted here nor in Aus, in american there are a lot of kennels that will state proudly they are 100% merle free. Its not a pattern to be dabbling in for the uneducated. I didnt know annettes would be so long away! i hope shes going to show them the reason why annette wont be able to do it herself if that she has to be phsyically there to sign the paperwork etc... Maxines poms come from aus, they are purebred, and all regoed with the NZKC. how is edward doing?
  8. Maxine Young in Tauranga breeds Partis. Also, Annette Ironside has brought some over. To bring a dog here, you need to get a agent, they will tell you of all the health tests that need doing, pup will also need export papers etc. Is this to the lady with the blue merle poms?
  9. Info bout the breed, my lines and our kennels, including weights of thier pups, days eyes opened, etc etc. Bed Blanket TOy Bag of food (i dont bother with the puppy packs, i get them a full size bag along with the puppy packs if i get them) food bowl/water bowl (we use the cheap plastic food bowls for our lot, but we tend to buy new funky bowls for the owners) Gift for the owner (usually a I Love My Pom cell phone charm or something) worming tablet Flea treatment Loan of a book on Pomeranians (i have built up a large library and will lend them out) show lead (very hard to find things that fit poms here, so i just buy show leads cheap and put them away) grooming kit sometimes puppy pads if i can source them cheap I knit them all a cardy for when they get the puppy uglies if it is winter all pictures of them, i usually email this Basically, they jsut pick pup up and away they go.. they dont need to buy anything as it all comes provided. I find the pups settle easier, on thier own beds that has smells of here, and i try to go that extra mile. Its a good idea bout the bus cards, and looking at vista print i could go wild! Maybe baseball caps with THEIR puppy on it! no wonder i dont make a profit LOL. All the feedback ive had is that it is so handy having everything, although they grumble they dont need to shop! I suggest to them if they do wish to shop, and buy thier puppy stuff, what i provide can be given to the spca or pound on their puppys behalf.

  14. OMG you all forgot the numero UNO number 1 thing on the list! BOTTLE OF WINE! then... comfy chair, sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrellas, dog crate, dog grooming bags, dog trolley, table to put the crap that everyone INSISTS on leaving on MY trolley, the wind break for the dog on the trolley (and hides the dog from the judge if i happen to get a spot ring side), umbrella stake, mat, tarps, coffee, cups, money, cell phone, camera, gazebo but we dont have one, dont miss not having one, seeing as we go through so many a year with the dam weather, tent pegs, map, numbers, etc etc but the bottle of wine.. OH and a watch
  15. My wee boy is a lil porker! hes named so far porky pig.. we dont know what to call him LMAO hes not opened his eyes yet, but anytime soon, almost there! cant wait till he grows a wee bit more!
  16. dont tell her you called her paxman LMAO is pan-Xan lol shell go all chinese crested on your hiney and no, vayda didnt produce anything but milk
  17. the msot important thing at baby stage, is that it is fun! crate training is MUST, they wont be out all day, and need to know a crate is somewhere they can rest in, esp on a hot day. a socialized happy puppy is wonderful to see in the ring, its all about learning. If you have other dogs, when you take yours on the lead, let him lead, sometimes follow, and when stacking, get him used to other dogs beside him being stacked. Its always interesting and so much fun to see the babys in the ring, even the ones who as soon as they set foot in the ring sit down and refuse to walk, still get as much cheering as the dog that doesnt put a paw wrong. You want to encourage your dog to have fun, if they arent food orientated get a squeaky toy or his fv toy, and lots and lots of praise when you are handling him. then when judging is over, head back to shade for a well earned glass of bubbly for you!
  18. so...... IM after a stud for my wee girl, and do the test. the dog is 5 times her size, has a nose the length of a borzoi, and coat of a chihuahua, and the body length of a daccy. the mating may kill her, but at least the pups will be healthy?
  19. Hi After a dryer, for poms. Been using hairdryers up till now, had enough! IM in NZ so shipping would be a factor, the only one i can find in trade me is from australia anyways lol... Any ideas or websites i can look at? thanks
  20. It was hugely rushed, but we let them settle then got mum all cleaned up.. Hes a lovely orange colour and we are terribly excited !
  21. PIcs taken less than an hour after he was born
  22. Molly had her baby! ysterday morn, my thermometor broke so wasnt able to take her temp... around 2.30 noticed she was panting so put her in the puppy pen, went to pick up kids from school etc. her noo-noo wasnt swollen, but i thought she might do something later that night... so i get back, and shes still there, panting, and around 4pm she starts digging a bit... not enough to make me think anything much... just sitting there smiling away, panting... (its a hot day anyways, some of the other dogs are in the coolest spots they can find) 5pm, i get up to stir the soup we got, and she lets out a peep, so i look in and OMFG shes pushing him out!!!!!!!!!!!! so after a very little labor my bestest girl ever had a free whelp, but only a singleton, which i suspected. a boy (of course i dont need boys) 136 grams! hes a fatty but hes just lovely, very tiny body which we are after, good looking legs, a few days early but hes doing great and mum is fine! i have taken some pics, but they are of him wet..
  23. OMG MM im so so sorry! what a terrible tragedy to happen. Is the brittany in season or coming in or out?
  24. ive been thinking of doing those courses, ill wait until the $$ is better for me, as im not in australia lol
