  1. Hey! can you please add me in, due on the 29th december... Pomeranians. My wee black girl finally allowed the stunning Carlos to have his wicked way with her... Now she doesnt want a bar of him, but if she so much as sees the chinese crested Casper, shes like HERE BABY! .......hussy... I aint having none of that designer breeding in my house thank you. carlos is living in enternal hope she will tire of the nakedness and suddenly have a large desire for fluffyness....
  2. ew.. just.....ew....... thank dog i live in NZ! not saying we dont get moths/maggots, my next door neighbour brought her cockroach infestation when she moved in next door and noticed a few, so we got rid of them pretty quick! i cant stand spiders though, they are the worst.
  3. Pet poms, hardly ever. when they need. they dont smell so it can be 2 years before you realise they havent had a bath in that long. show ones, more often, with around 3 diff shampoos lol! All mine get done in kitchen sink then grooming table with the dryer on warm. they do prefer the warm air, but if they had thier way they not be bathed full stop!
  4. i got pomeranians. for every oh what a cute dog i get 3 *oh my (insert some random person or relative) of those, a cheee waa waah.* i smile and say no, its a pomeranian. guy last weekend said they look the same. I said sure they look the same, like a BMW looks like a Ford Escort.
  5. it is in feilding I heard, where we have had the last few ones. mansfeild park, you can google that.
  6. lots of interaction with other dogs! usually they are lil fatties too.. lol.
  7. Im sorry, i should have mentioned this in original post, but YES something IS being done, via the channels that I personally feel safer going down. We do have photos/video availble to use. As for not saying anything, I have done so in the past, when i seen a couple hitting another dog, i told them that the next time i see them doing it to thier dog Ill dish out the same treatment on them. Please do not think I walked away with nothing being done. As far as I know, an email has been sent to the kennel in Aus where he got it to report what we had seen.
  8. A change in a bitches temperament is well known to be a sign of a season. Taking into account the bleeding, flapping noo-noo and flagging anything that resembles a male (even my hubby in one girls case) Id pretty much say that bitch is in season lol. Mine do change to a small degree, whether it is voicing thier opinion over everything, to snarling, but all have been great mothers, protective but not overly so. Lets humans touch her babies etc.. so YES i would. but if she was wanting to bite the hand day in day out, then id most likely desex her. (actually its the boys that drive me nuts when i got a bitch in season)
  9. at a ribbon show one day, i decided to enter adult handler stakes.. she asked for a reverse triange. so off i toddle thinking HOW THE HELL am i gonna manage this? got to turning point and thought oops, not that way, twisted around and ducked and bobbed and managed to get him on the right side of the judge again. got back and the judge said wow, that has to be the most graceful one ive ever seen. seems she was gushing! she really did like my handling she awarded me first place out of a very very large group, all cos of something i didnt know what to do, nor how to recreate. It was a fluke! i still remember that, but im sure another judge would have seen past my blunder. so when i show the dogs, i just try to listen hard to what the judge wants, I have confidence in my dog, and i used to try to get him stacked correctlly, until a judge said *leave your dog to do it naturally, it does look better*. now i go in with more confidence in my dog, and when you got that, you really cant stuff it up too badly. if the judge likes your dog, he likes it. If he doesnt like it, he doesnt like it and not much you can do will change that. If you got a stickler for tail set, and yours is low, he will know without you trying to make it look higher.
  10. I went to a NZ show last weekend, I had not entered any dogs, but my daughter was asked to help show, and so we went along. Usually I stick by the toy ring, and dont pay much attention really on what is going on around me.. so unobservant i know. Anyways, we were by the terrier ring... (my daughter was going in the working ring which was by the terrier). I know some people in this particular breed, so decided to turn around and watch this particular terrier breed. What i saw shocked me. A man (who has other breeds in same group) physically hurt his dog BEFORE they got in the ring, hitting it.. this was witnessed by others. the dog cowered etc, and he went in ring. dog obvisouly wouldnt walk, when he got back in the line up he yanked the collar up, so high and hard the dog was lifted off its feet. he smacked it again on the rear end, and was yanking it around.he grbbled the dogs muzzle so hard I doubt shed have been able to breath, and forced her head into position. the judge ignored him. the steward ignored him. ringside, me and about 5 others were HORRIFIED! saying OMG what! when i asked how to make a complaint about this, i was told to go up and tell him his behaviour was noticed, but not to make if official becuase of who this guy was and how tough he could make it for me showing. i got told by another person not to approach him, as more likely than not hed punch me for even suggesting he had been called out. the dog he owns was imported. Should i email the breeders and tell them? I have left the issue with someone else in that group. what would you do... when it happened I was thinking OMG and even said OMG what is he doing to that poor dog loudly, hoping the steward would hear. the international judge ignored the guy. I am ashamed the judge will go back and think we abuse our animals!
  11. wow, if every breeder stopped using a bitch who had varying degrees of any agression during her season/mating/whelping/raising the litter then i doubt there would be 1 breeder left. I got poms and I dont see how a problem in a great dane would be differnt in a pom, a great dane is same size as a great dane, and a pom is same size as a pom.. There would be a problem if she had a great dane that wanted to kill a pom.... but she doesnt. I had a bitch who would REFUSE to mate with anyone but my desexed pet, even now she flirts with him and prefer his company over any other dog. is that a problem too, should I not breed from her because she prefers another dog? Personality changes are a RECOGNISED part of pregnancy (or falsies) and this can be lumped under the personality change. If the bitch did this out of the blue with no health problem (sore toe, and daughter stood on it etc) then it would be a concern, but the poster ONLY said it happens during mating.
  12. I think like others have suggested, that the main problem is that the vet thought a) proceed with surgery, after conformation of pregnancy. Im sure he would have realised that yes, the dog is in whelp and would therefore change his tactical surgery. choice of anethis, time under etc. A break-down or confusion of conversation is horrible, when it comes to your dog. I believe that you would have gone ahead with it, after discussing the pros/cons of her in whelp, no vet will want to open themselves wide for a mispratice suit by aborting the litter, or using tactics that would result in the abortion of the litter. regardless, you now have a happier bitch and we all look forward to your posts bout your new babies! (p.s congrads on upcoming litter!)
  13. I think it all depends on circumstances. When you have a low-liltter-number breed, with high chance of C section, ive lost money before litter is even born. however, saying that, I gave away a dog for free as he didnt turn out show quality, to a family that is one of the best around. I would give a free one, but only if i could. Circumstances have changed since I could give away pups. I dont mind swallowing the (up too)2k bill that comes with breeding a singleton, but I just cant afford to give them away anymore.
  14. Silver labs here are banned and regoes were canceled. There was such a big stink, and rightly so. I talked with some of the lab people, and once they got the *breeder* banned from registering the sillver labs here, and found out they had plans to move to Aus, they informed the lab people over there. From what i gather, they come from the USA, where they had labs and weis, it was only in thier kennel that silver appeared. They refused DNA tests to prove the dogs were purebred here in NZ, and would not co-operate with the NZKC at all.. (this is just from what i have been told)
  15. I have a bitch who doenst know how to produce more than singletons lol. First litter with me was a natural, but boy was stillborn. second, natural as well, but he is fine and well. (not however if he doesnt stop barking) I xray them now, as close to due date as i can, and take it from there.
  16. We can do this in NZ, and its GREAT! saves time, paperwork, (maybe a tree or two) and lots of energy!. You can do a lot with the NZ system, and its one thing i really do love about it, of course you must still send in hard copies of registration names etc, but for litter notifications and online renewals, its wonderful.
  17. More often than not, a dog winning on its own merits in NZ under a NZ judge is NOT seen very often. As a result, I and a lot of others dont even bother showing under NZ judges. If they dont know the breed, they do not put up the best one, they put up the most known face. Possibly thinking that, as that person has been around for a while, they have good dogs, they must be good examples. Can tell you some shockers, as i bet you can tell some too. Win or loose, Im still taking home the best in show! (well, in my opinion )
  18. I voted DEPENDS becuase to me yes, it does. If a stranger with a horrible example asked me to pull my dog out, so they can win the CC, it would be a NO however, with a friend with a good example, and in MY OPINION, WORTHY OF ITS TITLE, then i would. I have done it, and had it done to me. You aussies complain bout getting a BIG for a gr ch? try NZ! its 3 BIS at ALL BREEDS show, under 3 diff judges, and the dog must have over 50 CCS!. In our group, there are a few GR CHS that are kept showing, usually they win BIG and RUIG and of course thier classes, yes, they are good dogs, no one is disputing that, but when the dog is a GR CH 20 times over, makes you wonder why they are showing it? to stop others i presume...
  19. The guy is pretty onto it for sure so nice to see the BOB winners Only 1 person has entered with her poms, wish id have gone lol!
  20. Good luck ;) to all exhibitors that are there already. For those in Aus who want to keep an eye on who is getting placed etc, this is the link http://nds.nzkc.org.nz/ There are some pics up now of the Best of breed winners
  21. Poms can have a recessed vulva, but they come right after their first heat.
  22. Oh im so sorry for you. I was dissapointed with my molly, no sympathy from me with anything lol. Good luck next season....
  23. If you are going to have the emergency vet on the weekend, would it be worthwhile waiting (if you can) till the monday? keep taking temps etc, if on thurs at any time it drops, get it done on friday, but Id be inclined to try to hold off till the monday first thing, if you are not 100% positive that she will have them early.
  24. Good luck! let us know how it goes, and lets hope that there is a singleton for you
