I wouldnt let a pup of mine go to a party to be presented. sandras suggestion of taking it, then taking it home sounds a good plan, you dont want to freak the pup out by a lot of people not knowing how to handle a dog, nor do you want 30 party goers giving the puppy 'just a lil bite' of this that or the other thing and ending up really sick.

my molly does... every single bloody time. screaming like madness for first few mintues then after that its constant whimpering. then after that its the keep away from me growl or howling. then after that its the not interested any more growl/bark. then comes the dont even GO there growl/bark then the what the hell are you doing back there growl/bark then the i might be going into labor in next week so ill start grumbling now growl/bark then the yes, im having puppies growl/bark then the i might have them today growl/bark then 3 days later its silent. thats when i know shes in stage 1. then when she starts contracting we go back to the growl/bark then the i just had puppies growling/barking/moaning then the my pups are pretty arent they? growl/bark/moan then when they are about 5 weeks its the i dont want to do this moaning. 2/7 then after that its im not your mother growl/bark/whine then its the im a bitch and ill dam well ac like it growl/bark/whine then the im coming into season bark/growl whine then repeat.

Well we got a succesful mating last night, after we fooled her into thinking it was our desexed boy she was going to mate with. She didnt want a bar to do anything with our stud. But put our desexed boy in front of her and shes almost but raping him herself. shes always had eyes for him, and althought hes a lovely pet, hes desexed for a reason! lol. Im hoping she will have at least 2 his time, shes had 2 litters and both times were singletons. and boys.. i want girls! So im hoping now shes a bit older shell go the other way than your theory and start pumping out girls, id be happy with 3 in this litter LOL

I have turned away all but 1 whom have asked for use of my stud dog. I am extraordinarily priveledged to have him and I am not about to abuse his breeders trust in me to let him go to anyone, and esp those certain 'lines' that will try anything to get him or his progeny. Other than that, its bsically the same as above. But there arent many in NZ whom Id consider. Being allowed to own and show such a dog is a huge thing for me, and every day I thank his breeder, hes just the bestest! I will always go within the guidelines that have been set down to me on any dog or bitch.

I had a bitch here a few weeks ago, and now my bitch has come in, 2 months early. Nothing to worry bout??? or am i being overparanoid? she can still ovulate? she had her last heat in october. Im hoping for a litter this time, all girls please, and of course all BIS quality.

Dont you remember the days of first love? Youd go rabbits, all the time! once in the morn, once at night, maybe wake up in middle of night for a quickie..... Hes just going to fall in love. a LOT. once their heat is over, they just 'want to be freinds' and hell deal with that too.. or they can get married and never have it ever again

HAHHAHA i might use that one and email her back! hahahha love it!

not only are purebreed owners pumping out thousands of pets a year, we are contributing to the killing of shelter dogs! even if you have 1 litter of 1 puppy a year, that is 1 puppy that I could have adopted! I answered a question on YA! and got that email, telling me that i was irresponsible, becuase Im a breeder and breeders are the reason shelter dogs die and if i really cared about dogs I would stop breeding. WTF! some silly PETA supporter who works in a vet clinic who KNOWS EVERYTHING including the ugly truth about us breeders, that we dont health check our dogs and we only do it so shelter dogs die, MILLIONS a year! I didnt know NZ had millions of dogs put down each year, and that my 1 litter per year that is supplying me of 1 puppy (singletons) is causing all those millions to die. shame on me!

c sections here start from (elective) at around 510 to 1,569 depending on your vet. emergency c sections are anywhere from 710 to over 2 grand, depending on who is on call. scans are anywhere from 55 to 97. (depending on vet) my vet is cheaper c section, middle range scans but they do have the best scanners in nz. the dearer vet is the more *popular* one with branches through out the city. costs you $120 to even look at the vet after hours, money up front thanks. (thats NOT the consult fee)

If i want to know what Im doing in my breeding, i just ask one particular person. she seems to know what im doing faster than i do! apptly i already have another dog from overseas here. wish shed offer to buy it for me too! i wonder how on earth i afforded it, but I must have! she does ask me every so often what im up too etc, and then goes and tells everyone else.. INCLUDING the names i wanted to name my next litter, that have suddendly been used via another breeder. funnily enough, she doesnt talk to that one, but the one she did tell must have told that other one, dont worry it confuses me too! You will hear good things and bad things bout anyone, depending on who you ask. go with your gut instinct... and take anything with a grain of salt

I knew someone would knock me back but oh well lol. I dont have that many studs TO get access too for one. If i lived in oz then sure, i could but the limited gene pool here in NZ means im limited anyways. No, i cannot afford to import all the time, done that and the dog ended up monochord, useless to me. THAT was genetic... waste of all that money down the drain, and We are saving to get another one im time. Secondly, if the dog was ideal in every other way, the patella never progressed, and you put her to a rock solid girl, I most likely would. she said the dog was great in other ways... nice head etc. Unfortunately in my breed, patellas are common, most often caused by injury, tiny wee dogs jumping or being dropped... not saying its NOT genetic becuase yes, it IS a problem genetically and YES i do realise that, and no i wouldnt breed from one who i was sure had inherited the problem. Sorry if i am in the wrong breed/not rich enough etc, thats your problem, not mine. I health test all my breeding dogs, but we do not have the resources available to us (and what newbie does) to just go get another one if I was in that situation. Its a bugger it happened in the first place. Not sure if you knew, but here ARE other grades, up to grade 4 or 5 depending on vet. Grade 2 is not ok to breed with, grade 3 and grade 4 need surgery. grade 0 is perfect. grade 1 does not always progress and a dog can live with grade 1 with no problem in its life. grade 2 is more likely to progress and is not ok to breed with. grade 3 needs surgery. grade 4 is worst there is We eliminate the problem by not breeding with any dog over a grade 2, progress has been made, but it is still rife in this breed. However seeing a dog with what you would presume is grade 3 going around the ring and WINNING, after the surgery the dog was bred from. I havent seen the puppys out in the ring for a while but Last time i seen them, there was no sign of any limping etc in the puppies. out of the 3 pups, all seemed ok. I heard that the patella was a accident, but no one really knows.... the dog went in show as well, and won many awards. (NOT my dog!)

I spoke to a lady who has a quaranteen place here in NZ, and she said that it doesnt look likely it would take effect? and in any event, it wouldnt be until towards the end of this year that they would do it. It woudl be great for us if they did, however it is getting VERY expensive now to bring anything in, seems MAF have come down on a few breeders, charging them for the expected litters that that dog can have, regardless of ifs a pet or not. Any reason for our govt to make more money, no wonder more of us are heading off to oz!
-
Firstly, was it caused by an injury? If genetic, then that really sucks! I most likely would not use if genetic, but then there are no tests to make sure its one or the other! If however, it stayed grade 1 and caused no problem, with all his litter mates all passed, then id be tempted to put him to a bitch with good patellas. grade 1 can be cuased by injury to the knee, especially at a young age.

I have used my stud, who has successfully sired 2 litters with her. One was a singleton stillborn. Other is almost 1 year old! Hes a nice boy, but i need girls! I would like to use him again, jsut got to cross fingers for next time!
-
Great seeing everyones litters, fantastic pics! yet again, molly has nothing. SHe kept us guessing the whole way up, having milk and everything. seems to be only a 50% hit rate with her, and then its a singleton. Ill be mating her next season, but Im not holding out hope. Sorry everyone.

they sound very genuine, but a gun dog in a apt? no. If they really have thier hearts set on a dog and THAT dog, can they move? you can hold onto dog when they have a suitable property. I really feel for you, they do sound ideal BUT is this what you want for your dog, and have the possibility of pup returned in a few weeks because *you were right, he doesnt suit apt life*?
-
In NZ its all done by email, we can do it online and a email is sent to the owner of the stud dog for them to confirm or deny.

Hi guys.... I was just petting molly today, resting my hand on her tum, lightly pressing, but not pushing. I was feeling lil like bubbles i spose? If you can imagine that, it was like holding your hand over a cup of coke, and feeling the bubbles burst on your hand... is that gas????? or the pups? shes about 6 weeks 5 days.

I had one girl who would snarfle a whole chicken while pushing one out if you let her... her half sister is too picky.... refuses anything 24 hours before. but drinks like a dam. I had one who didnt do the temp drop. ah dogs, whod have em!
