This sums up everything I have tried to say about my dog and offlead dogs. I have a breed known for being dog aggressive. Sure, he is a little guy and not one of the cliched " big bad breeds" but he could be a nasty little beast if I let him. The amount of people with off lead dogs that rush up to mine trailing an owner who says "its ok, he is friendly..." My dog has never attacked a dog before but damn he would like to! Only reason he hasnt is that I am aware of him and try to avoid any conflict. Guess what? after years of it I get angry and defensive as soon as I see an off lead dog. It becomes second nature to defend your dogs reputation from those who cant care less about their dogs. I'm in the same position with my little JRT, Pip (another stereotypical horrible little JRT). She's fear aggressive and she doesn't like other dogs. When people with off lead dogs yell out and say "don't worry, my dog is friendly", I yell back and say "well mine isn't and I wouldn't like to see your dog get bitten, because this one will bite". It's stressful.

My husband's name is Simon. I think it's an hilarious name for a dog. He's just gorgeous.

The one of them in the tyre could be used for a calendar or card. Just gorgeous.

Happy for a meet up - dogs or not. I live in Weston Creek and work in Barton so fairly central to anywhere. Weekends are fine too.

He is just too cute for words. Good luck with him Huga.

I pay $66 for my SWF and that's pretty reasonable for Canberra.

My dog Holly has been diagnosed with a probable case of GME - similar symptoms to the SRMA. She is still taking pred - down to 10mg per day and we will be dropping it to 5 mg per day this week. She was in a really bad way and after 3 visits to the vet I thought the next time I took her I wouldn't be bringing her home. However, she has had a massive turn around with the pred and is virtually back to normal, however, it is a waiting game dropping the dosage - she could relapse and the long term prognosis is not good. You can see her story here. I hope little Shiloh is better soon and it's not too serious. I know how heartbreaking it can be. -
Anyone Else Get Emotional As Your Dog Gets Older?
leighw replied to Muttaburra's topic in General Dog Discussion
My little Lenny (JRT) is turning 10 this year and I can't bear the thought of him getting old. He's my special boy - Mr Perfect. He still loves his walks and trots along at the front of the pack and still likes to play and wrestle with the other much younger JRT. -

He's a dear little fella. I love JRTs to death, be prepared for lots of fun, frustration and naughtiness from him. -
Just a quick update - Holly is much better today and is much more alert and even ran across the backyard this morning, so it looks like the prednisilone is working. I know there is no cure for GME but hopefully she will have a bit longer with us - who knows she might be a miracle dog who recovers completely.

Hi everyone. I took Holly back to the surgery this morning and saw a different vet - she thinks it could be granulometous meningoencephalitis as all the symptoms point to it - she seems to be blind, but the vet said she can see but her brain is not processing properly. As she had another seizure last night and has not improved we have put her on a series of cortisone tablets. If it is GME there should be marked improvement within 48 hours. Of course, there is no cure for this disease but we have to give it a go if it means a bit better and longer life for her. If she doesn't respond, the vet thinks it is probably a brain tumour. I was all ready to say goodbye to my little darling this morning, but obviously it's not her time yet.
