  1. You can get more hose from a vacuum shop. Dont know what you have in WA but in NSW you can get it from Godfreys. They will cut it to any size you want. Ooops should add. Thats the hose for the old model that sits on the floor with the black hose. Not so sure about the newer one with grey hose that is mounted on a stand as I havent had to go looking for any

    Greyhound

Never heard that one before. They either chase or they dont. If it was as simple as exercising them to get them to chase then there would be no dud nonchasing race dogs.
  3. Frozen Puppies at Calga on the central coast is still going. It is now opperating as Rocky Ridge Canine Breeding Facility. The second ph number on the FP website works. I am going tomorrow to drop a bitch off
  4. Looking for contact details for a microchipper in Harden area. Preferrably someone who can come to the house as there are 9 pups that need chips. Thanks
  5. My guys get meat and kibble. The race girls get 500g semi lean beef mince and 1 cup kibble. The show girls get 600-800g fattier puppy beef mince and 2 cups kibble. Their metabolism is heaps different to the race girls and they look like walking bone bags if they were fed as little as the race girls. The race ones are also both hypothyroid. One is fat, the other skinny. In summer the fat race girl gets a very lean beef mince but she lost 3kg in only a few weeks as soon as the cold weather hit (and she had 3 coats on) so had to increase the fat content. Increasing the amount of kibble made no difference. I have found Proplan kibbles the best for keeping the weight on the skinny ones, especially the salmon for sensitive skin and the performance mix. Royal Canin was interesting. I could just about watch the weight falling off them before my eyes when they got the small bite junior ( not sure the exact name) but the junior for large breeds in the purple pack was good.
  6. It is my understanding that the dog doesnt have to entered but htis is for the finals ONLY. Normal handler comps they do have to be entered. I think it was discussed on Ozshow a few weeks ago. Just cant rememebr exactly but you could do a search of the archives to find the posts. I think it was Sue Fed that replied
  7. If you unscrew the end of the watersaving one you might find a small plastic bit inside that makes it watersaving. Remove it and then rescrew together and it works just like a normal one. At least thats what I did when my one needed replacing
  8. Sorry to sound harsh, but as a breeder of IGs for the last 20 yrs I am extremely reluctant to sell an IG to anyone with a young family under 4-5 yrs of age. While I know many people do make it work, it just makes me feel very uncomfortable. Children tend to want to pick dogs up and then drop them (or their toys ect) when they become bored or distracted. In my early years of breeding I had several young families come to meet their prospective new family member. I would insist they bring their children too. Every time the child would drop Iggy and in the end I decided no more young families. For me it is just too risky for the dog. As much as you try, you just cannot keep an eye on kids and dogs 24hrs. Accidents can and do happen. While IGs are stronger than they look, leg breaks can and do occur and cost upwards of $1000 to fix, let alone the hard work and heartbreak when it does happen. Indigirl is correct in saying most breaks occur in young dogs but is is something you need to consider if you do decide on an IG. They are also somewhat demanding. If you dont want a dog that is "in your face" then go for a greyhound. I have both, and while I will always have IGs, the greys are fast becoming real favourites. They are very clean, laidback and certainly dont take up much room. I can fit 4 greys (ranging from 24 - 35kg) plus two adults in a queen sized bed and still get a good nights sleep.
  9. Excellent news Julie. I would have taken him but he would have had to be outside in kennels and there are plenty of littles here too
  10. Havent read the whole thread but I have had a couple of dogs with meningitus caused by toxoplasmosis infection. Various symptoms but included inability to walk and seizures. Treatment was antibiotics ( clyndamicin) and prednisalone
  11. I have racing greyhounds. I am a loooong way from conventional in the way I do things. I train my own dogs. They go to shows, are obedience trained, and whenever I am home they are inside on the bed or a couch. The trainers all told me I had ruined my dogs and they would never do any good. My vet (greyhound specialist) says my dogs are by far the most spoilt greys he sees. One of my girls has just started racing and won her maiden on her second start. So far she has had 6 starts for 1 1st, 2 2nd, 2 4th and 1 7th. Not too bad for a first time trainer. My other girl started off as a show dog. She got her GrCh first then went to the track. She had her first start at 4 1/2 yrs old. Has had two starts for a 6th and a 7th.
  12. Trying to send you an urgent PM

  14. Any other options ? I am travelling through Bathurst and Orange tomorrow on my way to Dubbo for the weekend. If I post them they wont get there till probably Tuesday
  15. Who's Italian? :D Lummevaara's Ch Berizza Every Breath U Take
  16. Greyhound Paige got BOB today at the Sighthound Show
  17. I am so pround of Miss Paige. Today she was BEST OF BREED at the Sydney Sighthound Show in some very tough competition. :D Paige is Brantarby Historys PAige (AI) and is bred by fellow DOL member Rebanne from her very first litter. Huge Thank You to Rebanne for letting her come to Sydney. We have loved you coming to visit and catch up with the four legged family
  18. I am the opposite. I would have entered different dogs to the ones I did, and more of them if I had known. I only have one adult and one baby entered
  19. Dont forget to bring your wet weather gear. In typical Sydney style it is now pouring just in time for the shows.
  20. That would be the Sighthound show at Castle Hill on Sat. I have Paige, Pixie and Skadi entered. Georgi will most likely come along for the ride as she wont want to be the only big grey left at home to supervise everyone. She's not that kinda girl. Also have a couple of IGs in
  21. Thanks CavnRot. Spottychick, look forward to your post when you have time. My girl is in for surgery on Mon morning. Fingers crossed it is not as serious as suspected
