  1. I've used that page to teach my Year 4 class about how anyone can write anything on the internet and you need to really be careful about where you get your information from. :D
  2. Thanks everyone, I will start looking into each of them.
  3. Hi all, My beautiful girl Bella went to the rainbow bridge yesterday. I would like to get a drawing/painting done of her for my partner for christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? I have looked online and it is very overwhelming, if anyone has had one done and can recommend someone it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks everyone or your replies. We live a 2 min walk from the beach and OH tries to take her and the other 2 swimming every day or so. I'll give the tea a go. I actually thought of the pinetasol, but Bell's pushing 55kg and there's no way I could get her in the bath and she wont go near the clam shell we have. As to how it was diagonsed, I found a big scab like thing on her back and all the hair just fell out in my hand when I was trying to seperate it to find the wound. I didn't find a wound but she now had a bald patch, I continued investigating and found a few more spots. That afternoon I took her to the vet, who took one look at it and said she had a flea allergy. She wanted to give her a shot of cortisone but couldn't because of some other meds Bella was on but gave us some antibiotics and said to change flea treatments to comfortis. The comfortis has worked really well, now I just want her skin to lose its redness and give her a break.
  5. Bella has been diagnosed with a flea allergy and her poor skin is very red and itchy, we've been to the vet for medication etc but I was wondering if anyone has a natural solution we can use on her skin to soothe it. It is really driving her crazy as she really has never had fleas before beside the odd one or two here and there, but since we have moved to the coast it has been a big problem. We've switched to comfortis at the vets advice so we will see, she is washed with malaseb. Anything we can use to help the poor old girl would be appreciated. Sadly every year something new pops up for her.

  7. Hi all, I am wondering if anyone knows of and can recommend dog friendly accomodation in or around Yenda which is near Griffith. I would like to go to a friends babies christening next month but will have to take my 3 babies. I am going to google it of course, but was just wondering if anyone had any first hand info. Thanks in advance.
  8. I just bought my lot their own sofa Got a click clack sofa bed on ebay for $50. They love it. Now I just have to get my lounge cleaned and we will all be happy.
  9. Well we received the fines in the mail today. OH tried to ring the ranger involved but he was at a course, waiting for someone else to ring him back. I just want to clarify some things that are being said. I'm not trying to get "out" of the order, I was simply asking for advice as I have never been in this situation before. The fact that we received the letter on the final day to contest it - we will be speaking to the ranger about this hopefully tomorrow. 2 of the 3 terms we have already met, I still don't know what the third term means, do I have to take the dogs to classes and show proof, has anyone had to do this before? Everything I wrote in the OP was what I was told, firstly by a neighbour, who was in her front yard when the pug owner stopped and asked her if she knew the dogs, which she didn't at that stage as she hadn't realised we had moved in and by the ranger when he came to speak to us. Our dogs were under our house when we got home. We threw them inside the house and went and spoke to the neighbour who said that they had been out all morning, rushing out from under the house and barking at anyone trying to walk past then going back under the house before they took themselves off to the beach. I am not disputing the fact that it was them. The neighbour saw them. I completely understand that the council needed to be involved, I would have done the exact same thing. I am just a bit upset that now we are being told that the dog was injured. The neighbour rang several of the closest vets to ask if a dog had been brought in, but couldn't find one. That afternoon we rang more vets and still could not find any. We were very worried for the little dog. You picture in your head what would happen if a 45kg and a 60kg dog attacked a 4kg dog. The outcome wouldn't have been pretty. Thank you for the advice that has been given.
  10. OH is going to ring tomorrow to find out about an extension - Dogs are registered in his name I want some evidence of the injuries, this is the part that irks me as all along we were told there was no injury and the owner hasn't contacted us for costs etc, which I most definitely would have had it been the other way around. They are the only terms listed, do I have to get training, is that what the third one is saying, I don't quite understand that one. I will get OH to find out tomorrow.
  11. We have just recieved a proposed nuisance dog order for 2 of our dogs. They escaped from our new house the day after we moved in. We were told the dogs had attacked a pug who was sitting on a beach which is clearly marked as no dogs allowed, while its owner and her daughter were swimming. The council came out 5 days later and took their photo and microchip details etc, saw where we had fixed the problem - they had pushed a wire fence under the house down - and said everything looked great. The council adviced the owner to take her dog to the vet but she said it was fine. The ranger said that because of this, the fact that we had fixed everything and it was their first day in a new environment he believed nothing would come of it, but it would still need to go to a panel to be decided. Today on the proposal it states that both dogs attacked this dog and it received puncture wounds - this is the first we have heard of this - and that obviously the dogs were offleash and not under effective control - as was her dog. The notice says we can contest the notice in writing on or before 5pm 8th dec. Today is the 8 dec, and we don't get home before 5pm - it only arrived today. If we don't contest then the dogs will be declared a nuisance 7 days after the date of the notice which is the 1 dec, so they are now declared a nuisance. The terms we have been given are: - ensure dog is under effective control of a competent person by means of an adequate chain, cord or leash that is attached to the dog and that is being held by the person whenever it is in a public place - this happens anyway, as they have terrible recall. - take resonable precautions to prevent your dog from escaping the confines of your property - this has already been done and the ranger has sighted it. - prevent your dog from endangering the health and safety of any person or animal, a example of this would be enrolling your dog in behavioural and obedience classes - this one I don't understand??? The order will remain in place for 6 months. A nuisance dog order is final and is not subject to any appeal or review. Is there now nothing we can do?? Is this all that happens??? Thankyou in advance
  12. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will definately look into them. I would love to stay with our vet, they have done sooo much for us over the years but I work in Greenacre, so would have the hour commute home to pick up Bell, then the hour trip back up for her cartrophen injection and to fill her script, then the hour trip back again!! I googled some vets the other night and found one (can't remember the name now though, will have to google again) that visited Bundeena once a month, which could work out well for Bell as she hasher shot every month. She goes in today for her last visit, I think I may cry! Can't wait till we are fully moved, am looking forward to the peace and quiet and the water. I grew up in a little town of about 2000 people on the coast and we had a 1/2 hour drive to "town" to do shopping etc, so I think I'll fit back into that mindset easily, OH on the otherhand!?! It was his idea though!
  13. After some suggestions for a great vet in the sutherland area. We are moving to Bundeena this weekend and Bella gets monthly cartrophen injections and is on thyroid medication, so I need to find someone within the next month. If it wasn't an hour commute I'd be staying with my awesome vet. We have 3 dogue de bordeauxs, one of which who has had 2 knee ops and severe arthritis. Any ideas would be great. May not get back to check for a day or two due to the moving (having a break from packing at the moment) but please let me know what you think. Thanks
  14. Thanks for all the advice. Got results for Bells blood test and she is now on a higher dose of meds for her thyroid, so hopefully that plus the modified diet will help. Going back in 2 weeks for her cartrophen injection so we will see how much she has lost then.
