  1. That's because he's spethal :D Raybans, I answered your questions in the Sibe thread. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures with your new buddy.
  2. I'm not really sure. Atleast 10 times their own weight I would say. I know 6 of them can pull our quad bike with two adults riding and the brakes locked on!!! Our last couple of sleds have been imported. Our current one is a Danler from Austria. Our rigs and scooters are made locally.
  3. Totally! Roary is the best at it. He flies up one side, barely puts a paw on the platform and then flies down the other side. My Mum couldn't watch
  4. Cheers! Daddies and Pa's come in very handy for making these things ;) I have to admit though that I had a ball when it was my turn to use the nail gun Thanks Sky. Our boys spend alot of time sunbaking and the platform is perfect. I want hubby to build another one now for the other running yard. The ramps are awesome because puppies can get up and down easily and it's a great work out for their muscles.
  5. I really don't know what to say other than I feel your pain. Cherish this time with Oscar and make some beautiful memories. Will be thinking of you
  6. We have a double level platform with ramps either side. Our boys LOVE it! They also love spending time on our son's Cubby House. They climb up the rock wall or stairs and some will go down the slide.
  7. Oh hon, you didn't make me cry. I'm just getting soppier as I get older. I've always been a sook when it comes to my dogs and I can cry at the drop of a hat thinking about them. We had a bad time losing two of them last year, one of the pups in my avatar, Drifter and Phoenix our old Mallie girl which was only 7 months ago. It hurts, it really does but please know that if/when you have to make the decision for Oscar, it will be one of the greatest gifts you can give him because it will show just how much you love him by ending his suffering. Trust in yourself that you are doing it for him and remember that he has been blessed to have your love, even if only for a short while. Wish I could give both of you a hug
  8. Pretty sure we are all guilty of that This might sound really weird, but my dogs have given me a look when it was time. It's unmistakable and kind of says, "I've had enough". God, I'm bawling now...........just know that you're not alone O.K.
  9. I feel the same. Unfortunately, I have had to make the decision three times now. The first time my husband was O/S and I had to go through it by myself. It was the hardest thing I have ever done and 7 years later, it still rips at my heart. Quality of life is a major factor for me. I never want for any of my dogs to lose their dignity. Pain meds etc can only do so much and trust me, you will know when it's the right time
  10. Awww, bit cute ;) Can't wait to see how they grow up. Don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh before P.S. I prefer males too - not that anyone can guess that one
  11. Yep, definately need puppy pics
  12. They are only housed in kennels at night. During the day they are all out together in our running yards. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's good luck or good management that they get along so well And yes persephone, it's alot of fun!!
  13. We have 11 entire male dogs here. Four generations in fact and three of them are littermates. We have no fights, no issues between brothers and they are three years old. And to those who say not to get two puppies at the same time, we had four at one point. Currently we have two pups who are three months apart. Guess that makes us extremely crazy
  14. Couldn't agree more! These people need a kick up the butt by the sounds of it, not a bloody dog to add to the problems. People really do live with blinkers on don't they Ask them how much time they are willing to put into working this dog. I had Mallies for 15 years and know just how much needs to be invested into a dog of this breed. I realise the pup is a cross, but it's still going to have to be trained properly and cannot be left in the backyard for the rest of it's life only getting attention at feed time. As for the four cats, tell them that if they really love and adore them, don't bring this sort of dog into the home because they won't last long. I could count on one hand the number of Mallies that get along with cats and that's only because the owners manage it very well. As sad as it sounds, it would appear that this family doesn't manage anything too well. Good luck trying to persuade them. I wouldn't be able to bite my tongue if I were you.
  15. We have used both Dogtainers and Jetpets over the years. I have never had a problem with Jetpets. The most recent dealing with the agent from Dogtainers in Adelaide was not satisfactory at all. The Canberra end however, is brilliant! The latest I have made a booking is a week out but you could be cutting it fine. If I were you, I'd book as soon as you have a date and flight number. I have always paid when making the booking
  16. My ultimate trailer would be a 5th wheeler - there are some really hot ones around!
  17. Our son, who is 4, loves sleeping in the trailer with the dogs. We camp in winter at races and it can get pretty cold but with 11 fluffies letting out hot hair it's very cozy. And yeah, a car with a large towing capacity is a must :D
  18. This is our BFT. Built to our specifications and it works really well but I would love it if it was half the weight 8 berths which fit two Sibes easily in each. Storage up top and underneath as well as a compartment in the nose. We take our quad bike in it to training but then our rigs, scooters etc go in the front of it when we are racing. Each side has an awning so the dogs are shaded if sunny but also out of the weather if raining. We have an annex that fits on the right hand side (like a caravan) and this is perfect for when we are camping. We can either sleep inside the front of the trailer or in the annex. Access door this side so we don't have to open the ramp all the time. Storage underneath which is large enough to put our annex, sleds, ski's etc. When we ordered this trailer we knew it would be big but when my husband picked it up, he nearly died
  19. Never in a million years would I consider any dog to be fool proof. If anyone seriously thinks that their dog is 100% reliable, then they are the fools I haven't read the other topics so didn't know about the hot debate. Might have to have a sticky now Some of my dogs will roll-over when they greet people. It's not something we have taught them, it's just a natural instinct for them. Maybe his dogs are the same? And yeah, buggared if I know how he tells the b/t's apart either
