Training run with 10 of our running line Siberians

So do I :)

Hello! Did someone call my name? Hope is most definately a registered, purebred Siberian Husky. She is a combination of Igloo Pak and Polarspeed lines and is a half sister to one of our youngsters, Ruff. The European lines are quite different to the US/Canadian lines and in our kennel, we have both :)

And don't forget that KC can lay dormant in a dog for up to 21 days before they show any signs.
-
We have 12 (four generations)
-
How old is the dog Mille? We have only ever tested one of our boys prior to a mating and that was because he was an older dog that had never been used at stud. He'd been in four homes prior to coming to us so we wanted to make sure he still had swimmers
-
Why wait you ask? Well, from our point of view, the bitches who have been mated to our boys have belonged to friends of ours or those that we have known a long time through our sport. They always come here to our kennel with their bitches and not one of them has ever bought paperwork with them! Money does not exchange hands until the stud certificate is signed and I guess because they are people that we trust, and they trust us, it's never been an issue. If it were someone that we didn't know who requested one of our dogs at stud, it would be a different story. Stud fee would be paid at time of service along with paperwork signed but I would want to make sure that the bitches name and all relevant details were filled out on the paperwork and that I took a copy. Call me strange, but I have known of someone using a signed stud certificate, which was blank, to register a litter that took place later on down the track that did not involve the dog at all. I guess that's a worse case scenario but it's not something I would ever want to happen to us.
-
How very weird How long ago did the mating take place? Maybe he's waiting to see if your bitch is pregnant before doing any paperwork? However, to increase demands AFTER the mating took place is bloody poor form and I would be very peeved. Hang onto your emails Mille because you might just need them!
-
If he's leasing your bitch, have you signed her over to him already? Sorry, you may have already said whether you have or not. As owner of stud dogs here in our kennel, we do not sign stud service certificates until we have confirmation that a bitch is pregnant. Most times, in lieu of stud payment, we have pick puppy but this is an agreement that we make with the bitches owner prior to any matings. That's just how it goes for us. It sounds like his demands and conditions changed AFTER the mating took place? If this is the case, do you have anything in writing from him as to what his terms originally were?

Mixing 2 Desexed Male Dogs With An Entire Male
idigadog replied to mumsy's topic in General Dog Discussion
IMO, it really comes down to personality and temperament. We have 11 entire males living here together with no issues. Two weeks ago we had another breeder here for 5 days with her 3 entire males and 2 bitches in season and just this past weekend we had 10 extra dogs in the yard, 5 of which were also entire males. Sure they were all very excited and vocal to start with but once they introduced themselves and realised that I wasn't going to let them get away with any shenanigans, every one of them just went about their business as per normal. For what it's worth, we always had more trouble with our bitches than our dogs. I think that if both of your dogs and your cousin's dog are well socialised, well behaved, even tempered boys, then they will probably have a fat time together :D -
I have 21 dogs in the yard here today. If a snake decides it needs to get in badly enough, well..........
-
I don't think I have the energy to get into this arguement. I'm still pissed off from our last incident. Living on the edge of a knife is doing my head in

When we had Malamutes we would get asked if they were: Alaskan Malaboos Malaboots Malamutts Black and white GSD's With the Siberians we get: Oh they're black and white Samoyeds aren't they?

Our running yards have cyclone fencing which has the thickest grade shade cloth on the outside of it going the whole 6 foot height. The fencing and shade cloth are buried a foot into the ground. Gaps have been filled with either mouse mesh or that expandable stuff in a can. Every door going into the dog shed has mesh under it and all the gaps between the shed and the slab have been filled in with either blue metal or the expandable stuff. The colorbond fencing that runs around the night yard and our house yard has been back filled (which is a big no-no apparently ) and the gaps between the gates also have mesh over them. I mow the grass around the running yards to within an inch of it's life and our paddocks are clear of debris etc. Our dam is at the opposite end of our property but our neighbours dam is closer and both have water in them so it's not like the snakes are desperate for a drink and have to get into our shed. I'm just stuffed as to what to do next? Frustrated, defeated, pissed off, the list goes on! I'm just so upset. I really thought we had done everything right. When we lost Drifter last year and had Rookie and Sully bitten, we upped the anti big time. I walk the dog yards before letting them out, we constantly check the outside of the fencing, our dogs are not allowed to roam and chase any of the local fauna yet we are still not winning. When this happened to Cooper on the weekend I just lost it. I really feel like I have let the boys down and no matter what I do, I will never be able to protect them. Thanks SC. Cooper is lying here beside me and is recovering remarkably well. We were lucky I guess that we caught it so quickly and he hadn't even gotten to the wobbly leg stage by the time we got him to the vet. He's a tough old buggar and the most awesome dog. I just hope he forgives me -

I am just truly over it. And I think the thing that gets me the most is that every other dog on properties around here just wander willy nilly and nothing ever happens to them. It's almost like we've been those over-protective parents who wrap their kids in cotton wool and the crap always happens to them. Those kids who are neglected and left to their own devices always seem to survive without harm. I know that's an awful way to feel and I don't wish harm on anyone's dog, but I'm really at my wits end now. Imagine if all 11 of my dogs were bitten this summer - that's $27,500.00 worth of vet bills at the emergency clinic. Yep, that's right The emergency vet in Canberra charges $2,500.00 up front and last nights vial of antivenin cost $1,400.00 (double what our regular vet charges). We have already spent around $40,000.00 in fencing. What do we do now? Edited to say that it wouldn't matter what the cost was, we'd pay anything to save our dogs lives. But what about those that don't have that sort of money, especially up front? It must be heartbreaking. -

I'm so sorry for your loss Memphis. RIP Tallan Well, we had one of our old boys, Cooper, in ICU last night. I don't know how the hell it happened but a tiger snake got into our dog shed/runs and Cooper had it. We have done everything possible to protect our kids and I feel so defeated. Luckily we caught it early and my husband rushed him to the emergency vet, which is 20 minutes away speeding, while I stayed and watched the other 10 boys for any signs. I just can't believe that we have to go through this again (4th time in less than 2 years) but thankfully, Cooper is made of strong stuff and is on his way to recovery. -
There are people in Australia racing Eurohounds. Very good friends of mine actually It's all a matter of personal preferance I guess and what breed appeals to you.
