  1. A week late, I know, but thanks so much for stripping Gomez, he's looking very handsome! He looks like a little puppy without his big hair!
  2. K9Kutz, a member on this board did a fabulous job with Gomez... I know, he's not big, but give hima shout, he may do big dogs also...
  3. JRT, yes and no, depending on what you want for your dog Have a look here: www.dogfoodproject.com and learn how to read the labels on dog food and what they contain and how they affect your dog, then make your decision... I would not feed it to my dog
  4. Thanks for all the info tramissa and sheridan - the dog did have "valley fever" about 3 years ago she just told me, I had never heard of it: http://phoenix.about.com/cs/health/a/valleyfever01.htm The dog wasn't eating very much and was listless, which is why she asked me, and those are th first 2 symptoms... I will pass on all your info and see if she wants to come in here and have a look Thanks again
  5. A friend of mine in the States just told me her dog is quite sick an the blood tests show she is "losing protein" and it could be a liver or kidney problem... Anyone know what this is? The dog is Aussie/Rotti rescue dog
  6. How's he doing today? Did you get the test results back?
  7. does he like liver? this is really gross, but full of nutrients and liquid - boil some liver and then puree with some of the cooking liquid so it's soupy... :D for us, but Gomez thinks it's the most gourmet thing you can give him...
  8. If he does like ice, freeze some of the stock in ice cube trays so he can suck on them Glad to hear he's perking up a bit and drinking! The other thing you can do is add some of the stock to his food and he should slurp it right up with the food
  9. Try boiling up some chicken, just the chicken and water, once it cools it's very tasty to them.. Or maybe the liquid form a tin of tuna or anchovies in water Hope he's feeling better soon
  10. Whoopsys in Elwood did a great job with my Norfolk - I know it's not exactly the same, but the groomer is English and very experienced - It's not too far, and there are a lot of shops in the area, some nice cafes and the beach is right down the road if your doggy wants to get really dirty before getting groomed!
  11. Moses is as handsome as ever!! One way or another, he's been on tv, what, twice now? We thought you guys were GREAT!
  12. Yes I am in Sydney, the Hills can is about $2.65. We were told the Eagle Pack was I think over $4 per can ie nearly twice the price. I am not stingy about what I feed jake and maybe Eagle Pack would be better value anyway. Jake has a tendency to sensitive and itchy skin so I would definitely like to look at something additive free. Thanks for the link. Maybe try Eagle Pack Holistic kibbble and do away with the canned food, it's mostly water anyway... The fish formula is very good for sensitive skins and definitely hidden additives or fillers - it's more expensive than the Euk, but you feed less so more economic and better in the long run - If you still want to put something wet-ish on top you can add some boiled turkey mince or eggs, etc...
  13. Yep, sugars, fats, mostly rancid, as that is what appeals to their tastebuds... it's like eating McDonalds and KFC every day...
  14. Bruce was Gomez's vet in London - great guy!
  15. www.dogfoodproject.com Have a look through these pages and you can decide for yourself what you would like your dog to eat... Read the labels on the food packets...
  16. Always feed what your dog does best on - BUT - it's a very big BUT - please do your research, know what you are reading on the labels, do your research on ingredients and quality, and then decide what you want to feed your dog... Corvus, your dog is a perfect example of what a lot of us are saying here, you don't know what the dog is doing well on until you change or try something else... I'm glad your girl is doing well!
  17. www.dogfoodproject.com Have a look through those pages - it's jam packed with cereals and fillers that are not easily digested and lower quality ingredients
  18. Eagle Pack is available in stores - have a look at their website and then stockists: http://www.eaglepack.com.au/Default.aspx Good choice! Whatever you change over to, do it gradually, especially with a pup, like over 2-3 weeks, reducing the amount of old food by a bit every day.
  19. Would love to, but I already have the beginnings of athritis from years working in kitchens, I think it would finish my hands off!
  20. I wish! Most of the Norfolks here are breeder's own, and I haven't found any in NSW.... boooo....
  21. goodness, sounds like a pain of a job! I'd first come across the term when reading about Airedale terriers I think, given they are not tiny it would be one hell of an effort to do, yet needs to be done for show condition. Yes, it is a painful and specialized job - Gomez is smaller than an Airdale though! He is not a show dog, he is neutered, but we like to keep his coat as if he was a showdog, true to breed, it provides temperature control and waterproofness - their coats tend to get soft and wavy if clipped, it's a big nono... Plus, there are so few Norfolks in this country, he may as well be a good ambassador for his breed!
  22. All you wonderful people who do handstripping, why aren't you in Sydney????!!!! or at least within 2 hour drive of me.... Kissindra, hand stripping is pulling out the dead coat by hand - it's for double coated wiry breeds, such as Gomez - it takes a while and a lot of expertise and sore joints, it's a job to be highly respected - especially when it's done well! It's been very difficult to find someone that does it here Some groomers I have gone to say, "oh yes, we do handstripping, we use a Furminator" this is where I turn around and say no thanks!
  23. Got it! Thanks... Now back your regularly scheduled porgramming - sorry to have derailed a bit, but seeing as you were all in here....
