  1. Just a reminder to everyone that entries are closing for The Romsey Kennel Club. Entries will be accepted up until Friday 28th Sept. When: Sunday 21st October, 2012 Where: Romsey Recreation Oval, Park Lane, Romsey. Schedule: August, 2012 "Vic Dogs"
  2. I just want to give this show another plug. We really want to try and be one of the fews shows that buck the trend of declining entries. If you look on our websites NEWS PAGE You will see how we donated $1000 to Lancefield-Romsey Lion's Club Units for a much needed bathroom refurbishment in one of the Lancefield Lion's units due to everyones support at last years show. Hopefullyy we can raise that amount again this year. If you send your entries off asap I,m pretty confident they will still be accepted. ;)
  3. OPPS. I will get on to our web designer and have it corrected. Thanks for picking that up. """"""""""""""Fixed Now""""'''''''''''''''
  4. Hi Sarilida. Mini Bull Terriers will be judged by Heidi Holland, (NZ) Grp 2B I believe she has been given permission to award R.O.M from the National Bull Terrier Council of Aust. but will need to double check this for you. Entries are definately still open. Craig
  5. Just a reminder to those that may have forgotten to get their entries in, that we are still accepting them. You can find the schedule in the August gazette or details are on the clubs website. ROMSEY K.C Its on Sunday October 16 at Romsey Recreation Reserve, Romsey. Thanks Craig .
  6. Here are the numbers ANKC pup registration 1990 87,768 pups registered 2010 66,040 pups registered In the past 20 years, a drop of 21,728 ANKC pups. Yet the number of mix bred, cross bred and unregistered pups born in Australia each year has increased dramatically (some say by 100's of thousands a year) which is very hard to pin down as they are all unregistered BYB breeders and puppy fams. There is no question that the constant attacks on purebred dogs and the (inadvertant??) promotion of puppy farms and BYB by animal rights groups, the unis, the government, the AVA may well bring an end to purebred dogs in Australia. Is it not possible that the drop of ANKC reg pups is due to the ANKC organisations and breed clubs weeding out those breeders who shouldn't have been breeding anyway? Or stopping breeders from doing a litter that should have never of been done in the first place? Don,t you think that a lot of the decrease could be due to: The introduction of limited registration. (Stopping pet owners from registering the pups from "pet only" parents) The introduction of having to do a basic course in animal husbandry to gain a prefix and registering pups The introduction of various mandatory health tests? The introduction of various optional health testing that should be mandatory. A greater knowledge of the genetics involved in breeding dogs by breeders. Then you have the dissemination of information now. With the electronic world that we live in now, information is so much easier to access. With this knowledge, breeding choices have become more informed. Just a different line of thought to ponder. Kraigoaks
  7. A HUGE thank-you to all exhibitors who attended and supported our first show. The grounds were left in great condition and we have already been told that we are welcome back again. A walk of the oval after the show and we only needed to use the pooper scooper ONCE and there wouldn't have been enough rubbish to line the bottom of the bin. Thank You All. Craig Phillips Vice President Romsey Kennel Club

  13. Taken from ABC News online.ABC NEWS Victoria proposes tougher pet breeding laws Posted 5 hours 43 minutes ago The Victorian Government is proposing tougher laws on pet breeders to try to stop inhumane treatment of cats and dogs. If re-elected in November, the Government will give councils the power to shut down rogue pet breeding operations and immediately seize animals. Agriculture Minister Joe Helper says breeders that have five or more fertile female dogs or cats would also have to register as domestic animal businesses. "I must stress that the vast majority of pet breeders do so responsibly and they have nothing to fear from this," he said. "But those few rogue ones that don't do the right thing by animals and perform acts animal cruelty will be pulled up really hard under the legislation we propose under the next term of Government." 14. The BMDCV is holding an Auction to raise funds for our upcoming show. We have a small but impressive selection of items that will be available. You can access the auction from the clubs website www.bmdcv.com.au It "should" work along similar lines to an ebay auction so go register now. Hopefully there wont be to many bugs. Thanks for your support. Please feel free to cross post this. Craig Phillips President BMDCV
  15. Hi all. Just a reminder to everyone about this show. The BMDCV is hoping to get over 100 entries for this show. Our judge Satu Yla- Mononen from Finland has an impressive resume, which includes judging specialties in: Denmark (2000 & 2002), Hungary (2001), Italy (2002), Russia (2002 & 2005), Austria (2003), Sweden (2003), Germany (2004), Finland (2004), Norway (2005) and France (2005). Her career highlight was judging the prestigious Bernese Mountain Dog Club 100th Jubilee Specialty Show in Switzerland in 2007. Satu is also due to judge the American National in May. Satu has agreed to critique our dogs, which will be very educational for everyone interested in Bernese. Further details can be found at http://bmdcv.com.au/event.html Providing we can get the support of the Australian Bernese community, and we can keep it close to cost neutral, we will be looking at contracting other overseas specialist judges for our future shows.
