Attn- Dog Groomers/owner Operators

Gold Coast, QLD So you think it's better to go in as opposed to sending emails? -
Hello, I'm currently un-employed as of last Friday : / I'm dying to get involved with animals, and work within an animal related industry, so I'm wanting to apply for a dog washer/dryer position. (in a perfect world, a grooming trainee ship) I am just wondering what the best way to go about this would be? There are currently no positions advertised around my local area, So I was thinking about maybe obtaining their work email address's and sending through my CV with a quick cover letter? Or would it be better to go in and speak with the management/owner in person? I know how busy grooming salons can get, so I wouldn't want to be an annoyance when they are not even advertising for workers : / Any tips or advise, or things to include in my cover letter? Thanks

A miniature Aussie Bulldog? Interesting, do you have a photo? If it helps, when my French Bulldog was around 6 months old he developed a rash which sounded very similar to your pups, it didn't bother him, and he never scratched at it. It was mainly under his armpits, leg, belly/side area. The vet informed me that it was a low grade allergy and could be cleared up with antibiotics- my dog couldn't take them at the time, in the meantime though I switched his food over to a brand that was for sensitive skin and it went away! He doesn't eat that particular brand anymore and I haven't had his rash come back either. If it is or isn't an allergy, I would take your pup to the vet to get checked out anyway

What about Nyla bones? They are safe to chew and be left alone with and also come in lots of different flavors/shapes and sizes. http://www.nylabone.com/products/non-edible/ I used to give my pup rawhide chews until I heard some really horrible stories of dogs choking and dying. When I stopped giving rawhide, I made the switch and started giving him dog biscuits as a treat when I went out and left him. Snot doesn't really treat his nyla bone as just another toy, he chews on his for hours and hours- it's his favorite. and good for teeth and gums too!

I'll probably just give it away, thanks

Ahh must be then, grey and purple box? I'm not at home so can't check. I never knew that about advantix though, interesting. That's what brand I usually buy for him.
-
I have had a box of advantix for cats sitting in my draw at home for over a month now, and I don't have a cat. I was just wondering if it's the same stuff they use for advantix for dogs? And if I could actually use it on my dog if I adjusted the dose obviously to suit his weight/size? Probably a stupid question, but you never know if you don't ask!

Hi, I was just curious as to what everybody's thoughts/ experiences are on puppy vaccinations and when to allow your puppy to visit public areas I personally thought it was 2 weeks after their 12 week shot? I followed that rule with Snot, it didn't mean he wasn't socialized young, he went to puppy school every week and I also took him to friends houses alot who also had dogs. So what differing opinions are there on puppy vaccinations? When did you take your pup to the beach/dog park or around the block for the first time?

Snot likes his Nyla bone ribbed, for extra pleasure
-
Get a nyla bone! I only discovered these when Snot was about 6 months old, I wish I had earlier though! He chews his for hours, and nothing else comes close to being his favorite toy. They are also really good for their teeth/breath.

I'm not sure if this is the right section, but... In the last two days Snot is refusing to shake hands? We have a bit of a ritual for when we give him a treat, sit, shake left, shake right, down, up and then beg. Now, all of a sudden he refuses to give us his paw  When I put my hand out to take it (either paw) he will quickly drop to the ground and won't let me touch or go near it, when I do try he will dodge and softly bite/nibble my hand... His paws are fine, I have inspected both throughly. When he is relaxed he will let me touch, squeeze and move both paws and joints and I get absolutely no reaction from him... He only goes funny when I want him to shake for a treat, Yet he has been doing this trick for over a year? I don't want to make a big deal over it and give him a complex and I can't think of anything that has happened for him to go like this, any ideas or tips to get him back to doing it?
-
Be careful it doesn't become an obsession for him. I'd nip it in the butt straight away and not let him do it.. My old Bully used to do the same, but it was to the point of obsession, she was very OCD and it would become near impossible to break the behaviour and get her attention while she was doing it.
