  1. Have you had his thyroid checked? Is there a reason that you are using phenergen rather than another antihistimine? Phenergen I usually only use on insect stings when their whole head blows up, as it works quickly & it makes them sleepy........I dont use it for other things due to it making them sleepy..........Have you tried all the other products like Telfast, polmarine, claratyne, periactin (makes them starving)
  2. Any Grevillia or Bottle Brush trees around? These will send the dogs bald especially where the tree branches brush the dog, if no contact the pollen will still affect them.
  3. Frontline hasnt been working for years. Advantix works, but even though it says it works for fleas for 4 weeks it only lasts 3 weeks.
  4. Laserlites "Whiten up" might be handy for you, it is a dry clean, so spray it on , let dry & brush out, you migth do this regularly in between show baths, easier than washing the dogs all the time. Laserlites also have "Dry Kleen" which is a dry shampoo for shows mainly,Whiten Up is a step up for stain removing etc. Sards or sunlight soap well lathered up, then done in a blue shampoo migth be all you need if the whiten up works. I have had brilliant results on urine stains using "Champion Tails" silver highlight stain remover, but you have to mix it just right etc or your dogs will be purple
  5. It has to be ESTER C though.....very different thing to Vit C.........
  6. If you google "Ester C & Hip dysplasia" you will see all the reports on studies done about this being a "miracle cure" It can not fix the problem but it can markedly reduce symptoms & further degeneration etc...........It has to be ESTER C not plain Vit C. You can buy it at health food shops but it is cheaper online through places like Vitamin King or Natural Citty.
  7. Sorry, I cant help you, as I DO use poisons on my dogs, I use Advantix cause Frontline doesnt work. Neem oil (spray) deters ticks & fleas and other bugs too, but is a hassle to make it up etc.......I use that as a fly spray, an old farm tale is to feed the dog sulphur every day! .......There is no product that is 100% affective against paralysis ticks
  8. Have you done a blood test & urinalysis? I would want to be knowing why she has mouth ulcers, what has caused them? Apparantly they can be a symptom of diabetes or kidney disease..........I have seen mouth ulcers in old dogs with very bad teeth and the gums start to "go", they get ulcers on teh gums above the rotting tooth. You can use Colloidal silver it is a natural antibiotic, but you would need to dab & hold a swab to the ulcer for about 5 minutes to suffocate the "bug", you can also put some in the water dishes. It is an awfully long time to have such a complaint, a sign of immune defiency, but I would be wanting to know what exactly has caused it....
  9. ESTER C TABLETS NOT vit c, ESTER C from the health food shop
  10. All mine do that, I put it down to the fact that they know it is poison & is causing them long term harm , I spose they wonder why I want to kill them & thats why they sulk or hide & act like they are being punished etc.......
  11. I have only heard of contagious ear problems being ear mites, which can come from cats also. Usually I see multi dog house holds with the same ear problem it is diet (cereal, grains, rice, pasta in 95% of all dog foods) Or they get water in the ears when bathing/swimming. Humidity breeds Yeast too, but usually starts from grain diets IMO
  12. The seminar will be between the 19th & 22nd of June, I dont know the venue etc, you can contact someone from the Goldie Club or wait until details are posted to the forum later. GRC site Dr Dodds will also be visiting Sydney & QLD.
  13. Thanks for confirming that Felix , much appreciated
  14. There was a celebrity Vet on TV many years ago on one of the morning shows, could be more than 10 years ago, saying this, and how they want it banned & correct labelling etc.........The main product he spoke of then was VIP from supermarkets, but I never saw it leave the shelves, and I know people who fed it all the time, used to make me cringe. Preservative 220 also is dangerous, found in beef mince (not sure what else??) People have lost their litters by feeding mince to their babies (bought from a pet shop), they suffer neurological damage, due to this preservative "zapping"the ability to absorb Thyamine. In young ones it causes irreversible brain damage & death. I wonder if 220 is the same thing as sulfur dioxide, perhaps it is the name for it on the label???? Can anyone confirm this???
  15. Perhaps he is being lazy, and thinks it is far easier to scoff down a few pellets LOL Make sure he doesnt have tonsilitis, usually they are finicky about all food though I must admit. How about getting your carcasses ground down to mince, and coat the dry with mostly mince, then start adding small pieces of bone like wing tips cut into smaller bits & add those, then work up to bigger & bigger pieces. When I feed my tiny babies chicken necks I cut them into tiny slithers with my chicken scissors, so that they are almost transparent, if they swallow whole it doesnt matter as they are small enough not to worry about, I gradually make the pieces thicker & thicker til they can eat a whole neck, you might have to go back to baby steps with him til he remembers how much he likes it Sometimes they can get pack behaviour over bones also, are you sure that his brother or another dominant one in the pack isnt eye balling him warning him not to eat it, I have seen this within someone elses pack before.
  16. It is hard to say, and was it a correct diagnosis???? Uveyitis can be related to auto immune problems, and Over vaccination causes auto immune problems, so it is possibble but would expect to have other symptoms with it..........I have to wonder if it wasnt just photophobia, if so I would say it is definately caused by Vaccination, as they often cause encephalitis (inflamation of the brain) symptoms range from very mild to severe, photophobia (sensitivity to light, causing pain & soreness) is a symptom of encephalitis..........anyway it is all guess work, but if it happened again under the same regime that is proof enough.
  17. GoldiesRgreat, this is exactly the problem, your dogs were vaccinated when they had a shot after 12 months of age (adult immune system). You need to understand what Vaccinations are & how they work.........The dog got T cells at his first adult vaccination.....he cant get any more T cells than he got at 12 months, so you could inject him every day & he wont get any more (it is impossible), he either has them or he doesnt.........All you do when you inject annually is make them sick eventually, or nothing if you are lucky..... Your concern about your dog getting a dreaded disease is how Vets sell the product, that is the spiel they give... they are brainwashed by the manufacturers themselves, there is MORE risk your dog will contract the very diseases you are injecting it for due to ruining the immune system with annual vaccines.....That is why so many vaccinated dogs get Kennel Cough. Vaccines last up to 10 years in the dogs system, can you tell me why people keep giving them more & more each year It is a rip off- a con job, making billions for the drug companies. I have heaps of links on Vaccine damage on my site Website As I said before you need to go to the seminar at the GR National, Dr Jean Dodds is a world expert in the field, you will walk away very knowledgeable & hopefully educate your Vet & your clients, better still would be get your Vets to attend also! Dr Dodds will tell you NOT ever to use the heartworm shot ever.......and recommend Titer tests or a 3 yearly protocol (the compromise) ....Titer tests are better, as you can see if levels drop, Distemper should last 10 years in most dogs, whereas Parvo probably wont, so you can see when the Parvo drops & vaccinate just for Parvo & not give a full cocktail of stuff your dog does not need..........This is just an example.........A vaccination card means nothing, as your dog may not be able to become immune, so no amount of injecting will do anything, a Titer test will show if your dogs can use the vaccine or not. This is another reason so many annually vaccinated dogs get Parvo as the vaccinations do not work on these particular dogs (like Weimeraners), without a Titer test none of us know if our dogs are immunised or not basically!
  18. The problem is that your dog can have no reaction for years then suddenly have one, and many dogs have no reaction at the time but build up in their system over years to react later in life in the form of arthritis, cancer etc........If we humans had a Hepatitis injection every year I think it would make us very sick eventually, and that is what we are doing to our pets ;) "killing them with kindness" I see you are in SA, you are lucky indeed as Dr Jean Dodds is the guest speaker at the Golden Retriever National in May, to get a good knowledge of what Vaccines do to our dogs this is a seminar not to be missed
  19. I have always given Phernergen for bee stings, not only does it reduce the inflamation but it also makes them drowsy, so relieves the distress & discomfort abit .
  20. It looks like you do Agility (from pics) ??? If so wont you need "proof" of vacc for your Club? If they do require it I would recommend you get a Titer Test done & ask for the results in print so you can use that as proof your dogs have immunity. Titer Tests (blood test) means more than any Vaccs certificate, as it prooves your dogs are immune, whereas many dogs that get annual jabs are not immune at all, as they are not able to ever become immune, so the owner for all the years of the dogs life has been wasting $$$ injecting the dog as they can never become immune (some breeds like Weimeraners fall in this category) there is no point giving them vaccs at all. Your dogs had lifetime immunity after the age of 12 months, occassionally they may need another booster when they are old, but a Titer Test is a good way of proving to yourself your dog is immune rather than taking my word for it, or any Vets word stating the opposite to what I am saying if you get my drift....... As far as heartworm goes, I give my dogs a monthly one, I say monthly, but they are good for 6 weeks, so if you are late giving it it doesnt matter much. I only give them medication through mosquito season. I also buy large dog ones & do 4 dogs per tablet, much cheaper that way.
  21. Most Australian Vets arent associating reactions like this to the injection either! They start treating dogs for epilepsy when in fact the seizures are from the vaccine.......... I have a client a little Maltese who every year gets a cocktail of rubbish (never been to a boarding kennel or obedience or anywhere else that requires it), and every year she has an adverse reaction......Huge very painful cyst at the site of injection, extremely sick & generally "flat",& then panting like a crazy thing..........every year this happens & every year the same Vet injects her, and then puts her on a drip the next day........ This Vet says to the owner that it is all worth this hassle & bad reaction each year as they wouldnt want her to get Distemper! These sorts of ridiculous statements have the pet owner convinced they are doing the right thing..........I would like to know when this Vet has ever seen a case of Distemper actually This dog will die soon, how much can her tiny system take of this trauma, Distemper vaccine lasts 8 years (min) in a dogs system, so why is she going to get Distemper & where will she get it from anyway LOL Stoooopid remarks.......
  22. Yes I freeze all my meats & bones first also, I never feed fresh just in case.
  23. What breed? Does it have long hair which are going inside the mouth (in teh corners of the mouth especially??) That can get putrid smelling Hows the tonsils? If the breath smells like urine, it is kidney trouble. I have had a client with putrid rotting breath, teeth & gums looked fine, but when I opened the mouth wide I saw he had a piece of string from a toy most likely caught between some back teeth, which had built up disgusting rotting things, and the string went down the back of his throat & was rotting too......absolutley gross I can tell you, once I got the string out, he recovered, and no more bad breath.
  24. Wolf Eyes that is so tragic What compensation did the Vet offer you for this blunder ? I know of a pup that was given the heartworm, and OVER vaccinated also, she started having seizures.....They are not to give it to dogs under 12 months of age , the Vet ignored it then wouldnt take responsibilty for this perfectly normal dog that suddenly became sick..........Anyway, she was detoxed through a Homeopathic Vet & she is seizure free now, but she is lucky, as so many Australian dogs are called epileptic, when in reality it is a drug reaction causing inflamation of the brain (encephalitis), the dog keeps getting pumped with vaccine each year without the owner having a clue it is what is causing the problem !!!!! I was reading on an American Vet forum how they recommened people take legal action against their Vet rather than the drug companies , as most cases are being won in court this way. The Vets over there apparantly should be warning their clients of the dangers of ALL vaccines before adminstering them, and a consent form signed, which most do not do .......They most certainly dont do that here!
