Yes you can give Cranberry tablets, they have helped dogs cope in renal failure that I know, but you can NOT give human things like ural sachets as you will make it worse, dogs have a different ph level to their urine than humans do........... Vet asap is most adviseable.

Alot of people wont use Rimadyl long terms due to the adverse reactions, personally I wouldnt buy them in bulk in case your dog has issues too...........

I would stop putting the cream in as it is for no reason. You might want to change to a Vet that is more familiar with the breed, I think I recall you are from Sydney, Hills area? If so I would recommend going to Karen Hedberg, she has had some of the most successful Cavalier Breeders go to her over the years.

Cavalier tears are common. What exactly is the eye cream for? Did they check for extra eyelashes? Once she starts teething they will get worse, and many Cavaliers have tear stains for years, as their heads keep changing up to about 3 years of age in some lines. The only product that will work on stains is "Kojo" you can get it online at Petnetwork. Did you buy from a Cavalier Club member?

Normally if there is an issue it will be with the whites, alot can tolerate the whites, but yolks fine, and normally will be a vomit rather than the other end, but anything is possible.

Sheree is right re the poison making the dog sick over time & affecting the other organs, I too would always opt for a dental on my old ones. However, if your Vet has said they are against it, I would change Vets as they wouldnt have said that if they were good at this procedure & experienced in anaesthetics...........We have a Vet in this area who is forever losing dogs under GA or post op, usually young healthy dogs for routine procedures, so it is VERY important to go to a reputable & knowledgeable Vet ...The risk is low these days.........

Chlorophyl liquid from the health food shop for body odour (dont know how good it is for long term, but breeders use it to mask bitch in season scent) . Antibiotics if his gums are infected, try wiping his teeth over or scale them yourself, charcoal tablets for bad breath..............Make sure he is always completely blow dried after a bath/getting wet..........

Could have got one stuck or spiked his mouth with one etc and now has a phobia about it...Could have a sore throat ie tonsillitis & will only eat soft foods cos of it............Check his teeth & down his throat to make sure he doesnt have something stuck , piece of toys, or something . I have seen a dog with rotting decaying threads of string wedged in his teeth that went down his throat, it was obviously there for some time & the smell of infection was the first thing I noticed when I groomed him, this is what the culprit was, part of a chew rope toy, I removed it & he had antibiotics as his throat & gums were infected due to it....just worth checking. Cut the carcas into bits & see if it makes a difference.

It is a rip off, they are concerned about the loss of income from annual shots, so have put the price up to compensate. It is the same vaccine. Vaccines are not necessary annually & never have been. Once a dog has been vaccinated on an adult healthy immune system it most often lasts for "life". The annual heartworm shot is something many of us avoid at all costs, and recommend our puppy buyers stand firm when their Vets try to sell it to them. Again there are many threads about this subject too.

Put Pineapple or paw paw pieces through her food, she wont touch them after that.

Can I Feed The Dogs Uncooked Corned Silverside
Cavandra replied to Miss Monster's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
past the used by date is not a good idea. -
It is usually Tonsillitis in Cavaliers that causes "fussy eaters"........Cure it by putting 1 drop of Iodine in milk each day for 10 days..........Iodine is toxic, it is ONE drop..........Antibiotics will not cure it. To make her eat go to the chemist & get Periactin tablets, give her half a tablet 45 minutes before her dinner......The side effect of these antihistimines is HUNGER.........completely safe to use daily, you can not overdose a dog on them.

First Season, How Can I Make It Easier For Her?
Cavandra replied to Norskgra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree, if something bad happens to her during this fear period she could be ruined for life. -
Very bizare thing to happen , why has he made a sore in that spot I wonder, should be flat skin that looks alittle like a flat scar but no reason to have an opening to allow pus to be coming out of it............Peroxide, apple cider vinegar or witchhazel for wound cleaning, betadine if he doesnt lick it off.

Sounds like vomit rather than urine

Sounds to me like he is paying off a new Mercedes!

Dogs Ageing Before Being Really Old
Cavandra replied to pawsaroundoz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Over vaccination (Vaccinosis) ie annually vaccinated dogs often have reduced lifespan, and signs of early aging, particularly arthritis & Thyroid -
If you can get under the house you could spread lime powder there.

Alot of people use the tick collars & say they are brilliant, also very economical. Preventic or Killtix........You can take them off for swimming or bathing obviously.

Yes thats fine

I dont bother with C5, and C7 is just a money maker, and will potentially cause more harm than good in your dog!!!!!!!!! My dogs get C4 maximum, usually C3, and that is once on an adult immune system & never again in their lifetime.

People starting on BARF diets get very hung up on fruit & veg content, they are not necessary, just an extra, and in small amounts will do no harm.

Carbs are not necessary. Dogs are carnivores & their system is made to digest & absorb meat & bone. The reason so many dogs have skin problems, yeast infections especially ears is due to excess carbs in their diet. Carbs convert to sugars, and yeast feeds on sugars, so do cancers etc.........Commercial dry /wet foods are full of grains & cereals, and cause so many problems. When a dog is sick often chicken & rice is recommended, & it often helps, but in general day use it is unnecessary.

There can be hope! Not sure where you are situated, but a freind of mine in Adelaide had her dog diagnosed with Thyroid cancer & the GP Vet said she would be lucky to see 3 months out. Not being happy with that my friend went to a Holistic Vet in Adelaide, and 12 months later her girl has never been better, and the tumour has shrunk so dramaticly that people dont believe the dog ever had cancer now!!! It involved detoxing, special natural diet containing specific things & avoiding specific things, NO MORE VACIINATIONS or chemicals.........

Obviously Collie breeds can not have Ivermectin, so need alternatives. I use monthly "Valuheart" (which is Ivermectin), and follow Jean Dodds advice by giving it every SIX weeks & only through mozzie season.
