  1. Most Thyroid issues are caused through Vaccinosis. If the dog is annually vaccinated this is likely to be the cause & should be ceased..........I am not sure how long it takes to get the function back to normal, (if it can), that would be a question for Dr Jean Dodds who is an expert in this field. Natural therapy for maximising function is to feed Kelp & Apple Cider Vinegar daily.
  2. Once a dog is jabbed as an adult it lasts for life, there has never been any need to do it annually.
  3. I never give C5 to mine, and once they have been vaccinated as an adult they dont get any more for life. If you must prove your dogs immunity you can always get a Titer test done instead, but completely unneccessary in reality. The compromise vaccs protocol is once every 3 years, but again unneccessary, but better than annuals!
  4. Any of these do work, depends on the stain/coat type though I spose as to what works best. Sards wonder soap Champion Tail stain remover (silver highlight) -horse product Laserlites no more stains Lemon juice
  5. If he is a good eater, then raw chicken mince (whole carcas etc ground, not human grade) will put weight on him. I find my boys need more food than my girls, they are more active & can eat twice as much as the girls to maintain condition. Sometimes this can be an underlying problem though, if increased food doesnt help then I would have him tested for thyroid or diabetes for example............
  6. Glad to hear it !! As I said previously Australian Vets are not up to speed they dont understand titer tests & T cells ........A dog either has them or they dont. High levels mean the dog has been exposed recently to either the disease itself or a vaccine for it, low levels means the dog hasnt come in contact with the said virus, however, the T cells are still there ready to respond if exposure was to occur. The more you inject a dog the less immunity it has to that very disease. Once a dog has T cells it has them for life in most cases............I believe you must put a dog under extreme radiation to be able to kill the T cells off, but the radiation is so high the dog would be dead as I understand it.
  7. Parvac is Parvo only, and you can even buy it online yourself if you wanted to. The concerning thing about Titer tests in Australia is that although a few Vets have finally started to do it, they still dont understand what it all means........"low" levels dont necessarily mean the dog needs another dose of it.
  8. You need a regime that does not "overlap" on treatments. If there are no mosquitos around then you cant get heartworm, and there shouldnt be too many fleas around either right now. 3 monthly intestinal wormer is more than enough, make sure the brand you get does Tapeworm, many puppy ones dont include it. If your Vet nurse is talking about the annual heartworm injection & giving it at 5 months of age!!!!!! This injection is mentioned on this forum many times, most experienced people on this forum will tell you not to ever touch it let alone on such a young puppy. It is expensive & potentially life threatening........Monthly treatment throughout mosquito season is enough, and if you forget it is no big deal, it is not that easy to catch heartworm firstly & secondly the monthly products are good for 6 weeks in the dog .......... Here is a regime that might suit. Advantix (ticks & Fleas) OR Advantage (if only Fleas are a problems) Canine Allwormer 3 monthly, plenty of other brands around like Drontal etc Valuheart monthly heartworm OR Proheart/Heartguard brands
  9. Mine is called "Liver Bread" Ive been making it for years, it is supposed to have cornmeal /flour half half. I use parmesan alot too. I have so many recipes on file, I havent made many of them as the favourites are this one & Fish Bread
  10. blend them up raw in a blender add 1 cup of wholemeal flour a clove of garlic 1-2 eggs mix it up & spread the dough in a baking pan & bake at about 180 for about 20 minutes.........It will come out like a cake that is a bit too hard but still slightly spongy. Cut it up & serve as treats or freeze.
  11. Apple cider vinegar may help remove the oily look ,also cornstarch/flour, potato flour things like that brushed through. Not sure what your dog is allergic too specifically, but you may find using essential oils in the oil helps too, a drop of T tree oil for example.
  12. The only way to save $$ is to buy in bulk. I find "Canine Allwormer" the cheapest. You need to check the expiry dates though, as it would take an awful long time to go through bulk tabs for 1 dog. As an example I can get the above brand for 40kg dog 25 tablets for $7 each.........You of course need 2 tabs. The other thing to do is to get expired tablets from the Vet, they are good for a MINIMUM of 12 months, and you may be able to sign a waiver saying you are buying them at your own risk etc.........They cant sell them in theory. You will also get them online cheaper (eBay or online stores) than the shops or Vets, but you then have postage, so unless you are buying multiple items it wont be that cheap.
  13. I worm mine with adult stuff from 8 weeks. Up til then they get worming syrup .
  14. Does she eat grains & rice etc...........most dog foods contain cereal, grains, pasta, rices, corn etc..........Cut out ALL of these things, feed fresh raw meat & bones & give apple cider Vinegar & Kelp daily, also fish oil capsules & evening primrose capsules daily.
  15. I start mine on little balls of beef mince at 3 weeks & I stroke the sides of their mouths to induce the sucking motion so as they swallow it & this allows them to experience solids for the first time (Cavaliers are only little) Putting a large meaty bone or a hunk of offal in the pen will let them play with it & taste it, rarely do mine actually eat it though ... Chicken mince is a carcas minced so that is what an adult would eat, you can add wing tips & chopped necks as they get more competant in chewing etc, If you need a more sloppy mix to start off , I use goats milk & cooked oats mixed in raw chicken mince, they love it being warmed too. As for salmonella poisoning, that is a myth, dogs are carnivores, designed to eat raw meat & bones & old buried bones etc, they are made to break down bacteria & process raw meats..........
  16. Discovered at Wagga Uni the fact that Rasberry cordial/rasberry juice kills a range of gastro "bugs".........it is the most common form of treatment in "Bali Belli" too :D
  17. Red cordial, Slippery Elm powder I have used over the years, but mashed cooked pumpkin is always best IMO, fixes diarrohea - constipation, all tummy upsets, so long as it isnt something more sinister of course.
  18. My local butcher minces the carcasses for me fresh the day I want them & he gives it to me for $1 a kg......Always get it fresh, as frozen can be dodgey, as many places freeze it when it is almost "off".
  19. I use Laserlites "Dry Kleen", or Biogroom dry shampoo "Super Blue Plus" (tearless)
  20. No it is not the kennels fault, how do you know you got it there anyway? Just treat it with cough mixture. Personally the only dogs I have heard of getting KC are those vaccinated against it.
  21. Where are the "cold hard facts" that they are necessary & are harmless? There is a very valid argument for you to debate with this person straight away LOL
  22. I have a page on website "Vaccines" and it contains many Links to lots of sites about the dangers of it, and how unneccessary they are. I have never seen any website showing any studies drug companies or otherwise that prove they are harmless & neccessary.........It has always just been a nice money earner with no one ever questioning it, but now that some Vets are suing Drug companies over the misleading/false recomendations/instructions on their products it is finally being taken seriously ...
