Thinking of you and your daughter, it's a horrible feeling not knowing. Fingers crossed this will turn into another 'Alvin is a rotten little sod' story soon.

Having a Lab X and a Kelpie, and in the past Lab fosters, I really can't imagine what it's like to have to encourage a dog to eat all its food! The foster failure SWF needs a slightly smaller kibble, but even with missing teeth he scoffs it down. We feed Big Dog Barf patties at night, and various dry in the mornings.

So is black with a smattering of white under the chin and a white chest marking acceptable?

Greyhound Missing In Fairfield Area (sydney)
Katdogs replied to nswgrey's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
He may have found his way into a factory area where there aren't many people around for a week or two longer. Hopefully he'll find his way back out again! Good luck. -

Dog Bite Wounds And Scabs And Scars On Humans
Katdogs replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nurse Jodie did her best on the night it happened and Stevie cleaned up my tears! Even a little bite #%^** hurts and it had been a very bad day! I might try some of the Ichthammol ointment, and keep going with the vitamin E oil - the pharmacist said to use it for six months. I'm a wimp so I'm not sure about bubbling H.peroxide! I can't imagine how much a serious big bite would hurt. And why is it SWFs I'm trying to help are the only dogs to try? -
Love his name! He does look like pure mischief!

Just stunning I got to meet a Pyr at the Dogs NSW spring day. An awesome creature, but a working dog at heart, and lots of it!

Dog Bite Wounds And Scabs And Scars On Humans
Katdogs replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's not hot in the area at all, and the weep is clear. It really does feel like an itchy pimple. Strong antibiotics don't suit me - some icky side-effects - I'd have to have lots of puff and pus and purple to use them again I was just wondering how other people treat their bites, and if there's anything else I should have done rather than betadine, or if there's better scar treatment. -
Almost 18 months ago I was bitten by a SWF with manky teeth and had to have antibiotics. Multiple deep punctures (from just one snap!) and it !@#$ hurt! I still have a lump on my wrist from that bite. Stupidly I picked up an old sleeping dog (much cleaner teeth, and I thought he was awake) a few weeks ago and he got me on the face. It was more of a scrape than a puncture, so I betadined and put up with it, but again I still have a lump there. It had healed over completely and the lump was getting smaller, with application of Vitamin E oil. However, this week it's come up as a weepy sore with a head on it, like a pimple! Any tips for dealing with dog bites and scars - apart from being smarter and/or moving faster?

Rescue Lumping Breederswith Byb And Pet Shops
Katdogs replied to Kavik's topic in General Dog Discussion
I didn't know much about the pure-bred dog world until joining DOL to ask for help when my mutt pup (Lab x GR) was proving too smart for me. Then I saw the rescue forum and got hooked. My second foster was a failure (Kelpie x ? - an amazing little girl, loved by all who meet her). I've since fostered a dozen or so dogs, mostly pound Labs and a couple of SWF. It's helped me realise what works best for me and my family, and given me a 'shopping list' of traits that I want and don't want - and the best way to get this is through a good Breeder. Now I hope my next 'own' dog will be a very carefully researched reg PB Lab pup (black male with 'intelligent disobedience' but an off-switch) for obedience and Delta/therapy training and companionship. I do not want to be made to feel guilty about choosing a pup from a Breeder because I don't believe I will be adding to the overall 'dog problem', but for some reason now when I mention this dream pup I get a lot of people giving me grief - more than when I got my first mutt Stevie (given to us by a friend, but from a BYB and the rest of the litter when into pet shops at about 5 weeks old at Christmas ). Rescue is the new black! -
Hey T, there's a family in our street looking for a pup - previously owned a Lab, before children came along - I think a message was left on your phone a few nights ago by Sue? I'm sure Caleb will have a family soon, I think he's very handsome. It would be very interesting to see how the pups grow up, is it possible to ask the new owners to send in a photo each Christmas?

So there's definitely Lab in these kiddies if they worked out the ears quickly! Glad they enjoyed them. I hope you can spread them around fairly at the rescue - and if there's any doubt, the black dog gets it!

I've had James cuddles - he's lovely!

Stevie's had an MRI to check the extent of her weird lump, and is booked in for surgery next Tuesday. It's a lump on her hock, with some (increasing) involvement with her soft tissue. "Not malignant but aggressive". Is there anything I can do over the next few days to prepare her? She's apparently a 'star patient' for the nurses at SASH and even the surgeon mentioned what a good dog she is but is there anything we can do in the next few days to make her better "conditioned" for the surgery and recovery? We have to take her to SASH on Monday night.

Tips On How To Remove Dog Hair From The Car
Katdogs replied to Huntia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think the technique depends on whether you are dealing with needle short coat, fluffy undercoat, sticky long overcoat or ... LAB FUR!!!! -
I posted the link yesterday and it was gone very quickly - I didn't think until afterwards that it might be inviting comment that could get Troy into trouble (sorry Troy)

Rubber glove, and wipe/ rub fur into little rolls then vacuum. Not that I ever do it, we just live with it  -
Wow that's just wonderful!

My cat is 99% indoors but takes great delight in leaving half skink torsos for us. A big wriggly skink tail is what got her moving again when she was paralysed by Orijen food. Your cat is being a totally normal cat - it's the cats who don't prey on anything who are unusual (although it can make them better pets).
