Sammy The Anti-gardener And His Big Weekend
Katdogs replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Kura's a cutie indeed Isn't it funny they both like having their heads eaten! Sam hasn't really destroyed anything, yet... Greg's slipper was manky and no great loss anyway... but he would if he could! I think the biggest win so far is 'sit, leave it' when he wants to tug-of-war  -
We picked up our black Lab boy last weekend after ENDLESS waiting (see thread DOL Dog) Havianas will definitely be a favourite. The rule is if you left it on the floor, you must have meant the dog to have it! I'm putting up with the puppy stage but I think I'm better at it this time than with Stevie 7 years ago. We've fostered and cared for quite a few dogs over that time and a bit of wee doesn't scare me like it used to!

Sammy the Vampire is feeling the heat He won't come out in the sun at all, and would rather sleep on the bathroom floor tiles all day. My special Piping Hot thongs that hiked through Italy now have extra ventilation and drainage holes. One of Greg's slippers is dead. The girls are really playing with him now, except when he's being a pest. Stevie's finally learnt to tell him to @#$% off when he's chewing her too hard. Then he sticks his whole head in her mouth to say sorry. I know he's growing taller because he can now pull at a bag hanging over the back of a chair, but poor puppy says he's starving all the time. Then again, he is a Lab! He's eating as much as Jodie for two meals a day, has a chicken wing to himself at lunchtime, and a couple of biscuits at night. He's almost learnt to sit and wait for permission to eat his food but he's starving so wants to jump straight into it. Next step will be to have him wait until the other bowls are down as well, and to ignore them. He's definitely pulling his bites on people now, if he manages to get his mouth on us at all. He's learning to leave/give things when asked, except Greg's shoes. This has been such fun so far! He's nine weeks old and fearless. -
Yay another black boy! I'm no good for advice except go around the house today and pick up every shoe, cover every wire and put books up higher. So far the only damage has been my thongs (extra ventilation/drainage) and my husband's old slippers, and one wine glass. Luckily our pup is sleeping a lot through the day and after the first night has been quiet at night Camera ready?

Sammy just learnt not to mess with Jodie when she's really warned him and is tired. He kept pushing too hard, then squealed. No marks on him, just broken pride. -

Jodie doesn't share very well. She won't fight but will snap a little to warn off other dogs (even if they're five times her size). As far as she's concerned, it's a serious job! -

Oh I almost forgot! Sammy had a little bit of raw carrot and chewed it up happily and cleaned up the crumbs! He can also empty a waterbowl in 30 seconds by digging really hard, just like Stevie :) -

Baby boy has had a very tiring day thinking about dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, whipper snipper, mower, roasting chicken smells and his own chicken wing for lunch! We left him at home with the girls for grocery shopping and I think he slept the whole time. Jodie is happy because it was mowing day and her job is to put the ball under Greg's feet every 30 seconds. Poor Stevie has hotspots and a pesty puppy on her tail but when she's the centre of TD's attention she's a very happy girl. I keep forgetting how shiny she is. She's so black she's almost silver! Tapua we heaps of photos of the man. I'll try to email them to you :) -

We're having so much fun here but OUCH puppy teeth! He's beautiful and strong and brave and a bit cheeky and has an independent spirit. Luckily for the girls he also sleeps a lot still! He already has an awesome 'come' and 'sit'! -
Does anyone have contact details for crickets? In OT (dearers thread, sorry cant link on phone) ) she sounds very down and a phone call might be timely from anyone who can have a chat.

He's a water baby alright! I'm using the tiniest bowl/ramekin thingy I have in the cupboard for his water inside but he still sticks at least one paw in. Outside, he's very impressed with the clamshell and the way Stevie can spread the water across the whole backyard! Jodie's been a little testy, as expected, about puppies not knowing the rules. Stevie's not sure about not being the centre of attention but she'll get over it - he adores her completely already. I think the cat might emerge in a few days, maybe - or leave home completely. I'd forgotten how quickly a puppy can go from ON to OFF-splat-snore... -

He's beautiful! A happy big waggly chubbalubs determined already to chew every wire, shoelace and thong in site :) We've met his sisters, mum and 'aunties' and a very special obedience dog who looks after them all. Such a happy household and very welcoming. Will post photos tomorrow when we get home. -

Awww shucks. On our way over the Blue Mtns at the moment. A lot of thought has gone into this puppy. The lines, breeding, raising, gender, timing are all just what I hoped for. Now it's up to us to bring him up well, as a good boy, with all that we've learnt from Stevie, Jodie and the foster Labs. It's a big responsibility but also a great joy! -

Poo bags now remembered! Squishy toys - TD has given us a bag full! I think I'll just take one, and a chewy one. Treats - I'll take some with me for his mum and aunts, but I'm not sure whether an 8wk puppy will get anything other than his normal food when travelling - just in case of erk. Treat for his breeder - Yep! -

Crate, harness just in case, collar, lead, towels, more towels, water bowl... Anything else we need to pack to bring him back? It's a four-hour trip -
That's an awful lot like theft

Greylvr have you received any paperwork from Pound Rounds yet? All my Christmas post (parcels, cards etc) has been getting around Australia without a problem.

Bump so the thread doesn't get lost. Random searchers might find the thread and get an idea of what's going on.
