  1. You're very reasonable Jellyblush. I'm on the 'there's got to be a limit' side but I have immense respect for your care and efforts for lovely Roo. I truly hope you can both find peace, one way or the other. ETA I haven't had a SA dog other than one little foster I gave up on after three days (took him back to the Rescue's kennel). I just don't know that I could cope at all
  2. Please pm me if anyone sees my FB story and thinks I got it wrong. I dont want to jeopardise the campaign to raise awareness of how good groomers operate.
  3. Is it an ANKC recognised breed? I haven't heard of it. Off to google I go!
  4. I've already spoken to close family in the area to warn them anyway, but the more people who are aware the better.
  5. Thanks DD I saw your post on FB and have shared it now too. Hugs Caz. I think the Urban Animal idea is a good one - even if it's just 'how to identify a good groomer'.
  6. Lancashire Heeler is another breed I've never seen. I'd love to meet one but again they're not in Aus.
  7. I kinda understand Big D's stats and logic But I'd still rather see ALL rescue dogs desexed, for behavioural reasons if not reproductive reasons. I believe the general pet dog owner doesn't need (or want) to handle entire dogs or bitches.
  8. I've heard of it and started a thread (so long ago I can't find it). Standard Poodle boys, out of the one sac. I don't think it's possible to tell how often it happens but it does sound special!
  9. Ah, well I can't help with 17 months! My Lab pup is less than six months and will still have a good try at eating anything once, but obviously isn't as chronic a weird-eater as yours. Good luck!
  10. How old is he? Are you serious about Prader-Willi? I know a couple of people with it
  11. I just found the HWHV on Dogzonline but no Kooikerhondje I think I'll be watching all the other groups now just for fun. Question - they don't seem to have the very blingy leads I see advertised here - are there rules about leads at this level?
  12. Oooh I'm watching the Gundog group judging now on youtube - so many beautiful dogs! I've never seen some of them before, must find out more about some of the spaniels. Also do we have wire-haired Viszla in Australia? The Lab is really so handsome :)
  13. I love that photo of him jumping He does look like a solid boy but fit and strong! I'm trying very hard to keep my Lab puppy in trim - whether he appreciates it or not :D
  14. I hope Goldie Rescue don't mind, but I love this photo too - Annie and her foster friends: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Golden-Retriever-Rescue-Inc-GRR-Sydney-NSW-Australia/391593125505 Love their smiley faces :D
  15. Ok so if anyone hears terrible groaning noises from my place I promise it's Sammy playing bitey-face with Stevie - not OH's reaction to the hole in the back lawn
  16. How puppy-proof do you think?
  17. Some sort of make-up/cosmetic 'dark spot remover' that didn't register except it had a cute Dalmatian puppy in it. Then I saw the puppy in a handbag! The more I think about it the sillier it is but the angrier I get. Dallies are not little squishable dogs - they have legs and feet - why roll it into a handbag? /end rant - not that I would have bought the product anyway
  18. Oh I do appreciate it - at least, my back does! The trick is he has to keep up with his girls!
  19. It's a joke Joyce So today Sammy jumped into the back of the car all by himself! My baby is a big boy He also 'fetched' six times! That's new, I didn't think he would ever get it. I think he's trying to copy Jodie. All his sit/drop/stay/heel training has left his silly head in the last couple of days - since going to official training It's also coincided with Stevie being shut in through the day so maybe he just has too much energy to burn when we get home from work. I'll try a big walk off lead tomorrow then work in some formal work when he's worked some of the wiggles out of his bum :)
  20. Caz, I just had a thought. Although the subject matter is too sad for ACA and TDTN, perhaps ABC's Stateline might be interested in the story? They did a report on the Orijen cats. It's not a huge audience but it's an influential one. It could be approached more from the 'this is an unregulated industry with cowboys' angle? Buddy's legacy remains just by the awareness raised in this thread, though - and word of mouth.
  21. Stan you're wonderful  I keep going back to the original photo. It's just stupid enough for our local Council to have done this!
  22. I'm a walk away too. Let me know if you're around Kat. As long as it's not raining!
