  1. Love Emu face-on! I think flicker doesn't like me Do I have to log in to see all the photos and comments?
  2. I know nothing about any dinner party - I live in another state and do this thread bec no-one in NSW would step up to the plate and help out the state's biggest pound. I saw this request on FB and decided to post on here - I hummed and ahhed whether it would attract the usual muck rakers and snide comments - I thought maybe this time it would be different, but sadly I was wrong. Sorry BL I was replying to DD and shouldn't post when I'm upset. I'm glad you're able to help out Blacktown Pound and you obviously have a big heart. I'd really like to not think about Rocky's K9 at all, but because she is fairly local to me I can't help but run into people who tell me about their rescue - undesexed, or a different one at the park that was DA and growling at the children - and then I'm forced to take notice. If you hadn't started this thread about Ben, I was going to start a thread asking if rehoming undesexed dogs that have been released by a pound to a rescue group is legal (obviously it's not ethical). I thought Blacktown was desexing before sale, so this particular dog must have come out under Clause whatsy?
  3. Yes I've seriously only just noticed. I don't want to think about Merna and her antics any more than necessary - such as when her name was raised at a dinner party the other night, or a thread like this comes up by coincidence at the same time.
  4. OMG first time I've looked at Rocky website. I can't believe she has the hide to put up a tribute to Norma Faulkner and claim to be trained by her! That's so so wrong in so many ways. Vale Norma. I hope you can't see your name and amazing work being used like this!
  5. So, I was going to start a BP/RK9 thread. How does a young female spend some weeks in the pound, then more with Rocky's being treated for demodectic mange, then two weeks after adoption still not be desexed? Still having treatment for the mange, too. Lovely couple who are very dog-savvy but still, this group is still a long way from meeting my own requirements of ethical rescue.
  6. Check UTI and what you're doing is great. You know what you're doing now and I totally understand your frustration! You are dealing with the most stubborn breed I've ever met! For cleaning up I recommend Delete. I've had a couple of sample sizes in show bags and a little bit goes a long long way! Also a mate of mine was having similar problems to you and she swears by the stuff. She has a house cleaner who thinks it's the best product for pet owners and recommends it to clients. Not cheap but if the white vinegar isn't working, this will.
  7. Yep, thought so. I think ours would get on with Tapua's ok, but not a serious guard. Also Jodie might discover she needs to round up chooks. I don't think that would end well.
  8. Oooh maybe - but could I bring my three dogs? How would we all go with your guardians?
  9. I would love to do it but timing is all wrong - the last week of August would have been perfect!
  10. Should I get the thread deleted? It's giving away someone else's details
  11. I'm glad inspector Minimax didn't try to climb up and pat him!
  12. Yay I got it right! Thanks dee lee for solving this! Magnificent beast - I'd love to meet him at street level. How big is he compared with your Goldie, dee lee?
  13. I'm very sorry no humongous dog was spotted today but it's just a matter of time :)
  14. Excellent work Minimax! That does look like the right place because I now remember walking up Illawarra Road from the east and seeing the dog on that balcony the next level down from the roof. I hope your stomach forgives you eating the burgrer. MadWoofter you're on! Apart from a rolly Staffy called Happy, Sammy's latest new friend is a young Wolfie X that you would adore almost as much as a Strawberry Fields Patisserie toblerone mousse!
  15. I think that would be very brave Mita! I hadn't looked at Sarplaninac photos before. That's a lot of dog!
  16. It would be funny if you could actually see the dog on google Earth. I have much better maps than google earth, way more recent too, so I was half expecting to see it  Are your maps better than Six? I used to use Six for work at all sorts of locked off levels. I miss it.
  17. Yep, google earth makes me think its that corner, above the old clothes shop. But I could be wrong about that too!
  18. Not next Saturday but almost any other I'd love to lead a dog-spotting coffee and baked goods tour through Marrickville! Henson Park and Marrickville Park both have a lot of dogs of all shapes and sizes and I think Sammy has introduced himself to all of them.
  19. It could be Maremma cross, but I'm sure it has colouring on the face. Similar shaped ears/top of skull so I started looking at those but I keep thinking of Casowner and lilli photos which is why I found the Anatolian. But I have a history of getting breeds very wrong!
  20. This rooftop has big views Mita, it's on a road that runs along a ridge and the building is several storeys high. The dog can see a long way - and somehow see down to across the street too. I've seen the dog a few times on Saturday afternoon rambles but I have a dreadful sense of location and direction I know it's the eastern (city) side of Marrickville Road, somewhere on or near a corner. I've usually got two dogs with me and Sammy still needs some wrangling through the crowds, especially if there's another dog nearby (which is what draws out the giant). Minimax or FF it would be fantastic if you could spot it too! Sometimes there's another dog up there with it - but I'm talking about the BIG dog!
  21. I can't get a photo but there is the most huge dog living on a rooftop above shops in Marrickville Road (Sydney) that looks like a giant! She/he has sloped ears and varied colouring. He/she guards his/her patch of the world and if another dog is being walked past s/he has the most echoing of barks. Has anyone else seen this magnificent creature? I think it's the corner of Illawarra Road. Not sure if this link will work but something like this I AM the world's worst breed identifier but I'm pretty sure this is not a Golden Retriever or Labrador
  22. How lovely for the whole family! He's so beautiful.
  23. Love the Chimps. They're all great photos T!
  24. Really? No GoldenTamarin or Crab-Eating Macaques? What were you doing all day (again)? Noice piccies AGAIN! Love that big paw!
